  1. I have heard many sensible reasons why many places close at times you would think they should be open. It is a very debatable point with validity on both sides: being open or closing, however, I cannot keep track of how many visitors to downtown that I have witnessed walking around wishing they could go into a place and it is closed. Even on prime time Saturday afternoon on a bright sunny day! I hear the reactions and it is frustrating.
  2. "Now kiddies.... Look both ways before crossing" Told ya... I am working on my noisemaking shoes for me and my dog...my siren hat so the buses will watch out for me!..as it should be first and foremost. You will hear me as I walk...Ka-plunk..Ka-plunk... Then you will hear the four legs of the pup doing the same...a siren and a voice that says... "Watch for pedestrians...watch for pedestrians"
  3. Don't get me started; the "closed on Sundays" is a pet peeve of a number of key Cleveland downtown/urban restaurants, among them: Lola on E. 4th and Great Lakes Brewing Co. (which kills Ohio City on Sundays) ... there are a number of Warehouse Dist. eateries close up on Sundays, too... ... and GLBC fans take a back-to-back hit on our more patriotic holidays like Memorial Day, last weekend, and the 4th of July... I'm not knocking anybody's religious observance or sense of patriotism, but it rankles me that, in a city begging for people to come to urbanized areas and create a buzz like Ohio City and downtown that establishments Great Lakes, Lola (and plenty of others that feature darkness and upturned chairs on tables every Sunday) go a long way toward perpetuating the "ghost town" feel we applaud these places for helping to eliminate... I just don't get it; it makes Cleveland seem so Podunk-y. Well stated. I have said this a million times. Thanks for echoing the sentiment. I have yet to go to the exhibit, but one thing that disappointed me from the outside is that the murals are so dark at night. You would think that an exhibition of this caliber would somehow light up those windows a bit at night.
  4. I think the neighborhood should start letting people know that it actually does have a food co-op nearby. I am blown away at how many live near there and are clueless as to its existence. For those who may not be familiar, food co-ops are an entirely different concept than the typical grocery stores in that for the most part they promote and foster the distribution of locally made products and/or independently owned companies/economies; local food/products. A very cheap lifetime membership provides a discount for every time you shop and in the long run, although some prices may seem higher, the food and products are often superior and since you can walk to this place, you don't have the expense of the car which offsets other savings people might get elsewhere. Plus, you will be supporting a local/independent business. I follow their newsletter and frequent it as often as I can. I do not live around there anymore, but I do know they are going through efforts to largely improve the establishment. It has been there since the 60's.
  5. Sounds like his job is near Tremont...so why not a place right in Tremont?
  6. I'd rather see that complex re-developed first, anyway. Its pitiful looking right now and worst thing about it is that it is on an intersection that should be among the busiest with street activity, but is a dead spot. (the building) Haven't heard anything on the Schofield either, lately.
  7. Corporate socialism and dictatorship...an unaccountable tyranny that can lead to hell too.
  8. Moved near Old Brooklyn.... And that's just what we need in good 'ole OC... More of those gorgeous parking lots. Wow...if the car became obsolete one day... How would we explain parking lots?
  9. The box stores are like A-Ho**s...everyone has one!
  10. Here are a few more for today of a neighborhood near the CBD. Eventhough the streets look rather quiet of pedestrians, most of the time it is full. I just happened to be out at what would be a more down time... Such as right after lunch or after rush hours. I tried to get a couple close-ups of the houses to show the materials. These were build in the late 1800's through the 1920's. I was in several and the materials are solid double brick walls. I was really impressed with the quality of the homes and all the workings in them. Built to last several lifetimes. More to come....
  11. If this has been posted, please excuse....
  12. Straphanger... you are spot on.... It is a classic externality that will levy potential problems on everyone else (city) to have to deal with. Not the right thing to do.
  13. Jerry, nothing personal here, but sorry......you or RTA still does not get it. Many can argue that this attempt (talking buses) at safety actually does the opposite. In a way you are using... or on the verge of flirting with another pro-noise argument that bikers use to justify their loud pipes battle cry when installing illegally modified pipes. This argument shot down big time through physics by their own brethren. (Google Hurt Report) Oh dear...this is pointless... Now I will fit my dogs paws with loud subwoofers that go KA-PLUNK...KA-PLUNK...KA-PLUNK....KA-PLUNK... My shoes too...and a siren on my hat to let the buses know I am crossing the street and have the right of way! But, when we';re all deaf, loud won't matter and then we may have to revert back to using our eyes and stop talking on cell phones when driving. I know... I am selfish because I walk. I'm done with this today.
  14. I've been to Latitude only once (for breakfast) but I wasn't too impressed with their food. Maybe I need to give it another shot. Yeah...its a bit of a cold weather comfort food place. Their menu is limited as far as what I would chose to eat, but what I do, its decent. The only thing I really don't like abut the place is that the floors need to be kept cleaner...and the annoying radio needs to be shut off. I asked them to turn it down and guess what? No one missed it and business went on just fine! Someone even thanked me. I hope the space next to them is filled soon. It is a great building. Anyone know anything about possibilities with it? The old Snickers place, I think. By the way, on another related note..Not really a restaurant, but the Athens bake shop on Loraine in Ohio City moved recently.... Does anyone know if these spaces are looking into being occupied? it really leaves a blank and foreboding void across from Souper Market. I wonder what the real reasons are they moved. Any information?
  15. I may attend this as I am looking in this neighborhood for a house.

    ^^ Woah!
  17. I vote Halle's. Too bad, though that visitors have to witness the big dead zone right in the middle of Euclid... I have tried to make contacts with property owners about doing up the windows, but with little to no responses.
  18. Woah! The plot and drama thickens!
  19. Are there any women bodies there? It looks like men, only.
  20. More trees help to reduce noise. But unfortunately the ones planted along Euclid near the heart are mostly dead and too small to be quite effective yet.
  21. I hope so. This is one of my absolute favorite buildings there. It is really one worth keeping compared to many same old same old types that were built in excess here. (well, needed at a time)
  22. One thing, I publicly say...sorry.. Yes, my post was too long...and are on that issue. I admit it. But if anyone thinks its tiring reading posts like that, imagine how tiring it is to be forced to hear that particular kind of noise nearly every day with no escape. That is how it is for thousands of people. I was simply fuming when the idea of vibration and bass was proposed. Note that my reply was not personal to the person, it was to the issue, really. Tedders, same goes for you... didn't mean to jump all over you for stating my post was long. It was more so out of the idea of downplaying that particular issue. At any rate... no worries.
