Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
^ While it may be a transit hub....it doesn't mean that transportation entities need solely dictate its design and use. This is what has happened for a long time. Before it was a transit hub, its intent was public space, hence the name P.S. It became the transit hub not by public choice but by railroad push and there is an imbalance of use to date.

Terminal Tower Private Tour
^ Good points... But how about the private tour component? That wouldn't be a public thing... but on occasion like the subway tour.

Yes, over and over again. Little to no response. As a customer and as far as I am concerned, there is no excuse for this. So, if this is how I would be treated as a customer...then I don't need to give my money to them.

New Straitsville, Ohio
^ Yep... but I can show you some of the most beautiful rural scenery in the vicinity as well. I had the pleasure of monitoring many rivers and streams in the region.... Its not all "The People Of Wal-Mart" I actually have 'roots' in southern Ohio. Waaayyy....back in the day, there used to be many clean, proud, and prominent landowners and farmers in the region. Never say obesity because they physically worked hard and ate far less processed foods and ate at home. Many had farm fresh foods. Then, the third generations inherit the land and do not always understand or appreciate the hard work put into the land, or pride in owning it, as their predecessors did. Lose an industry or two.... toss up a trailer....Then add the dash of Sprawl-Marts, and Mall Warts not too far away.....and VIOLA!!!... the result is the photos above. Oh, toss in the couch too! What a cultivation!

Cleveland: CSU International Students creating community on E. 12
In reference to the section 8 housing...a multi-million dollar renovation for section 8 in a prime space for downtown--not the wisest use, indeed. One cannot deny the percentage of negative associations--even if just a small infraction---sets off shock waves of fear. Not good. This is such a nice building too... You'd think it would have been one that could be a showcase residence because of its character. The incident/s there have actually deterred me from seeking it out for window art displays. Lots of loitering too... But surely a world influence here could be the ticket for breathing in new interest. These people see opportunity that many here who have grown complacent or who sit on their laurels do not see.

Terminal Tower Private Tour
Cool extra photo!!!..... Looks like those rooms could use some TLC. This will be fun.... Despite no elevator access... How about some suggestions that those floors could actually be used for.... Maybe very small private meeting room for a few people....a snack bar...museum for the tower.... Wolfman Jack's broadcast room...... weather station... maybe quarters for Rumpelstiltskin? Maybe a small ob deck.....charge admission.... kind of like going up into the torch on the Statue of Liberty...although they don't use that anymore, right? Anyway, if they're sitting empty....it would be great to use one of them for something if possible. Maybe even small pre-paid tours?

The ATV vehicles parked outside the front of that building amuse me... There are some really scenic roads in this region if you get off the main secondary roads. Still pockets of Ohio that feel somewhat remote. This place simply needs a coat of paint here and there...

Cleveland historic trolleys - staying or going?
Well, at least many will remain in the state.... Not what I feared happening when I first learned of this auction.

Technically...where is level 52 when viewed from the outside. Also....On what floor is the G-Brier Suite? What a cool spiral staircase... Just needs some polishing up! Does that spiral staircase lead to the G-Briar suite? :-D

^ Gee! You say that as if it is a bad thing....What's wrong with saving whales, dolphins or ozone layers? :? Without all that we would not exist. I guess compassion is the new radicalism. :shoot: Back on topic...

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
"Why do guys who get thrown out get standing ovations?" Good question.... It is one thing to show appreciation for holding one's ground on a controversial call or when there is obvious dirty play....But, for whiners and complainers like Wallace or Odom in this particular instance...it only sends a message that inappropriate behavior is ok. Maybe having this escalate these days has something to do with mass marketing/media, more than ever before---as they are cashing in on it--- making anti-social, aggressive, and/or criminal like behavior...and being just plain stupid, look as though it is cool/glamorizing it! See "The Merchants Of Cool" Staples Center L.A. == What a pretentious environment!

^ Yeah. True...such a wall wouldn't look too bad in The Flats, but its just too stark of a contrast so quickly. As for that space, I mentioned way up in this thread that it needs to be well planted....native trees/plants to help cut down on noise/fumes from the garage.... It has the potential to be a really great public space. I hope it is not treated as an afterthought. It could be a great selling point/feature.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
^ Great points.. Not to mention other obvious problems like not maintaining the cleanliness of the stations enough.... I could take someone on a tour and point out exactly what I mean. These are basics and should not, in any time, require a higher budget to implement. I also wrote a long article about the ridiculousness of this horn honking thing....why it should not be done...among many other things. Yes, the marketing is not 'selling the product' to make many think about changing their commuting ways. I also find it quite annoying to sit on a bus when all it takes is one idiot who does not have the common sense of a goose---and does not know how to behave and sit there and respect other people surrounding them...TURN DOWN THE DAMN I-pod and stop imposing it on everyone else who didn't ask for it. Tone down the shouting too! Basically... everyday manners that lack by some customers. I have seen food/drink (open containers) being brought on buses.. This should be a no no. The lack of services to meet today's demands is another issue as you pointed out. You're right... It seems to really be a ship without a captain....or worse, a rudder! I am sure there are excuses to be offered for all...and that's fine, but these are just a few reasons I take it less than before.

This facade looks wonderful! Saw it today.... It actually looks original... I hope it will be lit at night. I do hope there is some sort of plan for the side however...as it is simply too contrasting and left alone, looks like an expensive facade was draped over an old crumbling brick warehouse.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
I have had plenty of suggestions for RTA to make transit more appealing. I used to ride RTA frequently... I ride it occasionally now. Most of the time that I have either called or written about a concern/suggestion, it never gets a response. Now, that can only mean the one of the following--or this is how I interpret it because I do not get a response.... 1. Overwhelmed with letters. 2. They don't care or see the issue as of any importance. 3.They hate me! I would hope that it would be more of number 1. Ha! I don't think just because a customer has a complaint, comment, or suggestion about RTA.....that they always need belong to the advisory board. If I have an issue about customer service with a store, or suggestion....does this mean to evoke some ideas for changes that I would have to join some kind of board? The result of not being heard is that I simply won't ride. But, I hate to say or do that because I understand the importance of public transport...the need...and how it is so overlooked in Ohio and is thrown the scrape of the barrel in the funding department. Maybe that is why it needs to be made to where there is more of a demand for it....and part of this has to do with making what you have right now, be as with much quality as possible so that it appeals to attracting new customers. That would be an important factor in helping to justify more spending on it. At the same time, even on a strained budget, I could not understand how my suggestions and/or complaints would need a big budget to be able to address or implement. As to what my suggestions and concerns were...well, that is another story for maybe another post. However today, I did notice something a bit odd about the Health Line station near 4th and Euclid.... It seems the concrete on those median stations is already busting to pieces. What happened? Cheap concrete? Bad work? Or did a bus or other vehicle strike it? Just wondering because I would hate to see these places start looking like crap so soon. Lastly, to elaborate on a comment a few posts up....And although the good 'ole folks may not realize WHY.....But I think it is in rural Ohio's best interest to want money spent on urban cores and public transport, so as to make these places the place where people want to live...instead of choosing to sprawl all over the map and consume acre after acre of valuable farm land that get surrendered to the pressures of sprawl. Not good for the local farmer, is it? Not good for the agricultural community...or in preserving their rural quality of life they love so much in the first place. KJP hits the nail on the head.

Question.... Would there be a possibility of creating an ice skating area? That would be a nice component. I miss it when it was downtown.

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
Not just a mere boring "pedestrian bridge".....How about nice iconic bridges like the ones in Rockefeller Park? Maybe if the bridge looks classic, fun, or romantic enough...sort of "Paris-ish" maybe it would draw more people to want to use it. Add some flags to it, nice arches...don't make it very high....spiral stairs, ramps.... Just a thought.... Anyway, remember..... this is a main showcase area.. I am shooting for something that will knock the socks off of many people with many tastes both here..and in the world. Now is the chance to do it right. Should be classic and something that won't look dated in years to come.

Ohio's city halls
The good, the bad and ugly... Some really great city halls! Is there a photo of Warren, Ohio City Hall? It's the grand old Perkins mansion. Its when the city halls are combined with many other city offices that are the kind of structures that make you feel like you're in trouble when you go there! :police: Not inviting!
