  1. Jacob's has allegedly threatened to default on a loan if the city did not give them the money to build this aquarium. The difference between the C.A. vision and the Jacob's idea is that C.A. offers an iconic cultural institution and destination, while Jacob's plan is more of a road side attraction. There...that is all I can say and don't quote me on anything. Be patient Cleveland, and you just might get a first class top notch world respected and visited classy and educational attraction.
  2. In what way do baiting comments have anything to do with openings and closings either? Or, do we need to start a separate thread for even the slightest associated comments? Actually, if one thinks deeper than the coffee cup...it can have a lot to do with it. When one place opens up and infuses new spark on the block and is a respectable place, sometimes it may influence/inspire others to get their act together. The fact that you pose such a question only reaffirms my evaluation that much of downtown falls short in grasping basic storefront pride/maintenance philosophies. If you don't like the comment, simply move on.
  3. I hope this prompts Radisson to repair their facade lights which have been out of order for a long long time. When the facade was warmly lit, it created a whole different welcoming classy atmosphere there.

Yeah.. It just demonstrates where the priorities are placed. I hate when people simply assume everyone is into sports by saying things like "You going to the game?" etc. Here is another peeve.... made up names to the extreme... But I must say when this was forwarded to me...it was just too funny! YouTube - Broadcast Yourself. I say that, even as a once huge fan; now barely. Other interests have evolved.
  5. Nicely done.... Hope to see that someday.
  6. ^ Well, yes.. I did know what it looked like... and it can even get better with more trees. What a topper for a contrast to what it was.
  7. While these are not my favorite style, I don't think they're horrible. Some nice Sycamore trees, a signature Ohio natural heritage tree, would look nice in this development. It is too bare and bland. More trees pull it all together again and mends the wounds that development inflicts on the land as well as help clean the air.
  8. Glad to see this moving, but one concern...I hope this added 'retail' doesn't make it even harder to fill existing space downtown.... Or, I hope it does not lure existing business out of existing places to locate in the new. That would be a kind of 'sprawl contained within downtown' scenario. Such will never have the appeal of a Euclid shopping area.
  9. Yes, but I am still not at complete liberty to say...and if you really knew what Jacob's was up to, you wouldn't like it. I suspect something will break soon in the news. All the ducks need to be aligned properly, however. We need to be patient.
  10. I actually like the original concept of this park...to have it sunken below street level to offer a more solitude place for lunch and relaxing...out of the line of street noise and fumes. The trees were mature--and they will probably not utilize them in the new design--as a progressive design would. And, sadly, because of the fear of the park being lowly lit at night and the shooting, the old design actually becomes a bad thing. Maybe some light, some paint, and a walk-the-beat cop or two, the sunken design could have remained viable. I don't think I will like the new design if it is a mere flat open space with a few saplings and a chemically poisoned mono-culture lawn. Hope I am wrong, though. By the way, Chicago has banned the uses of many of those products on public grounds. Good on them.
  11. We could help them tremendously by choosing to not use lawn chemicals (which Cleveland is doing on the Mall, aside from every other Mr. Jones doing it in neighborhoods) Choosing not to pitch trash onto the street (which eventually can get into the lakes)...butts and those disgusting Black and Mild plastic tips....and such wouldn't cost a dime!
  12. These are the examples of better pride and stewardship in storefronts I would like to see here. Great job! It speaks for itself.
  13. Is this a store that sells more criminally inspired, oh, excuse me...Uhhh hummm.. "Urban Inspired" clothing, like crap catchers? Ahhh.. Yes, that's exactly what it is... Just looked at the website. Here is their "news" ANTOINE WALKER COULD FACE JAIL TIME Antoine Walker has earning a reported $110 million over the course of his 13-year NBA career, but i... MORE » God..if this is the best TC can do, I feel sorry for them.
  14. That's good news... Both really nice buildings that currently look like crap. Is there a projected time line for the project? How long will it be before they are ready to be occupied?
  15. I think enlightenment will bypass the US.

Woah! Talk about blowing a liver/insulin gasket!
  17. A "Yes" vote only guarantees more factory farm influence and power. I find it quite disturbing at how many who cannot see through the B.S. in this "Vote Yes" campaign. In the long run, it will hurt more...those it suggests it is trying to protect. The chamber driven folks who brought this to you did so with giving you the impression that it is all about helping "poor farmer brown and his family"...when in reality, "poor farmer brown" includes big time operations with absolutely no scruples... and these industries go through great pains in trying to hide a lot from the public about health/safety/cruelty issues, etc. If this food industry was more transparent, it would cure a of of the ignorance that abounds about how food is produced, where it comes from, and so on. People are so disconnected from this aspect of food and that is why they're fooled easily. When the Farm Bureau back something up, I throw a red flag immediately. They're not always on the side of who we are conditioned to think they are. Here is a group who's head once argued that pesticides have contributed to a healthier diet. And before anyone knocks PETA... I would suggest you educate yourselves in learning about all they really do..all the good. I am very thankful for such a watchdog group. Don't be an idiot and smear them because you hear one incident or two where the media tries to make them look bad.
  18. How desperate Ohio must be. Sad.
  19. Philosophy: Use money from those who don't have it....to help a state that does not have it? Very wise.
  20. 25th hardly runs through the Tremont most of us are familiar with and spend most of the time. It kind of skims the western edge of the neighborhood...and I believe that is actually Barber/Vega according to the block club that meets near where I am thinking this description to be.
  21. Everything the propaganda supporting issue 2 promotes is actually the opposite of what its real hidden agenda is.....there is not one local food/safety, etc... group that supports this thing.
  22. Kassouf, or his parking company owed me $400.00 once in '89 and never paid it! If that is the same one... What a piker! That was a heck of a lot of cash for a 21 year old to get screwed out of while taking classes!
  23. Is there anyone who would like to do some photography of this cemetery? I know a group who would appreciate that if it could be placed on this thread. Thanks!
