  1. Not entirely correct with their wording. Yes, it's pared down in initial numbers, but half of the land of the original proposal isn't being used here. They shifted to an east/west development vs north/south. My guess is they altered it to align with Dublin's wish to straighten Tuller and straighten and extend Village Parkway over 270 to Emerald Parkway. The parking lot immediately north of the AMC will still be available for a future phase.
  2. A commenter on Reddit speculated that Pins had wanted to convert the old Art Van Furniture store at the SW corner of Lyra and Gemini into their Polaris location. Apparently the problem was they'd need more parking than is there, and Polaris Fashion Place wouldn't let them use their lot as overflow. I question this. They know without going through any processes that Columbus wouldn't let them build without additional parking? The mall wouldn't want a destination entertainment spot to possibly have to use a part of their lot that is hardly ever used? Also, the Easton location is by far their largest at 38,000 square feet. The old Art Van store is 70,000 square feet! Almost double their largest space!
  3. If you're a federal employee it's your pay scale. If you live in any county in a Locality Area you get the same pay scale. Locality Areas begin with CSAs as a starting point, but this new list is not necessarily an indicator of what the new delineations will be.

  5. Baxtel is inconsistent and incomplete. The Dispatch could stand to do a little more research. Baxtel lists the Hayden Run Road location as three data centers, but it's one site with five buildings. As far as I understand these are identical, redundant buildings. The Dublin site is also five buildings. One of two Plain City locations are underway. I haven't been out there, but I imagine the second Hilliard site between Cosgray and Leppert is well underway. The third Hilliard site on Scioto Darby may even be underway. It also lists three New Albany locations, but only one of them has buildings on it as of now. Here are their New Albany properties.   11. Lev's Pawn Shop at 1174 W. 5th Avenue is planning to demolish the existing four-unit apartment building and the pawn shop building. He wants to replace them with a single mixed-use building with apartments over retail; presumably his pawn shop.

  17. Sure, OSU is a maze of buildings, too, but it functions as a building under one roof. Any building that's 5 million square feet built over the course of a century plus is going to feel a bit disjointed, but it doesn't come across that way from the outside; literally and figuratively. I have to imagine this is more conducive to cross-profession/specialty interaction. Grant has way less room. This should have led to better integration. The campus is dark, uninviting, and confusing. I understand they do great work there, but the campus reminds me of Mt Carmel West. Mt Carmel cut their losses and decided to start new. I don't wish for Grant to do that, but I do wish they'd make their campus more cohesive. Unless I'm in emergency need of trauma care and Grant is closer than OSU, I really have no desire to ever receive care there. A hospital should not make its neighbors feel that way.
  18. Yes, I know how piece meal development works. It can be done right, it can be done wrong. Nationwide is doing fine and OSU is almost perfect, but Grant is doing badly. Usually when land is at a premium you have to build up. I'd say especially so if you know you'll have to invest at this site, for all intents and purposes, in perpetuity. Instead, we're getting a three story building? They even say they know it could be better. They just can't afford it. Well then maybe don't take on 3-4 large projects all at once? This isn't just about aesthetics. It's about being a good neighbor downtown, and also building a cohesive campus that's conducive to better care. We're getting neither.
  19. Not just the aesthetic. It's not connected or cohesive at all. Ohio State and Children's Hospital right here in Columbus are two examples of urban hospitals doing things right. Even Riverside does better than the disjointed mess Grant has become.
  20. Then wait for your Pickerington hospital and Riverside expansion to be done? Seems like they're overextending themselves and it's going to hamper our downtown medical campus.
  21. The five cities listed above are roughly the same population in Urbanized Area. However, Columbus is nearly 200 square miles smaller in land area than the next closest, Cleveland. That is a substantial--greater than 27%--difference. Meanwhile it's only 8% smaller in population.
