  1. Sorry this took me so long. I actually had a fairly free day at work for the first time since I did the Ohio cities. Luckily, I got it on my first try today so it wasn't too bad! Pittsburgh has over 36,000 blocks in its Urbanized Area vs a littler over 21,000 for Columbus! Anyway, for Pittsburgh: 2020 Population: 1,745,039 Area: 907 square miles (!) Density: 1,924ppsm Weighted Density: 7,810ppsm
  2. The GIS Director at the Licking County Auditor shared them. He said the whole county would have updated aerials on their website by the end of this summer.
  3. Aerial view from February 2023
  4. High Bank Distillery announces a third location featuring a historic speakeasy is in the works "One of Columbus’ most popular distilleries is unveiling a third location that pays homage to the Prohibition Era and Westerville’s rich history. Anticipating to open in Spring of 2024, High Bank Co. announced today their acquisition of a historic building on 28 South State St. in Uptown Westerville, and despite Westerville’s complicated past with alcohol, the community couldn’t be more thrilled." https://614now.com/2023/food-drink/high-bank-distillery-announces-a-new-unique-location-is-in-the-works
  5. Oops is that the one that recently left Easton and was looking downtown? That's what I meant.
  6. This was purchased by UP Campus Properties. Looks like they usually go pretty big! Their plan says underground parking with a podium so we could see something significant here. This will probably be on next week's UIDRB agenda. Hopefully they get their heads out of their asses and actually work with an out-of-town developer trying to bring a large scale project. For reference this is right behind the 15th and High project:
  7. You mean like the current retail space? It'll probably remain there, but be 15k square feet larger. Seeing as Rogue owns all the buildings south of them along Starr, and the project is titled Rogue South, it doesn't appear anything will happen with the Fifth Ave frontage. Perhaps they still want to do their arena?
  8. Hard Hat Tour: OSU Wexner Medical Center Inpatient Hospital "Since the start of construction in the fall of 2020, the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s new Inpatient Hospital has become increasingly visible. Now topped out at 26 stories, the enormous building is hard to miss, towering over the OSU campus and the Olentangy River. It also stands above the 21-story James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute, which sits directly next door and seemed pretty big itself when it was completed in 2014. At 1.9 million square feet, the new tower is about 800,000 square feet larger than the James, and by the time it is finished, the two buildings will be completely integrated – connected on each floor, so they will essentially function as one large building." https://columbusunderground.com/hard-hat-tour-osu-inpatient-hospital-bw1/
  9. This is actually for the SE corner of Hamilton and Warner. So not the outlots on the west side of Hamilton.
  10. Really these should be in the random development thread. Westerville zip code, but Columbus city limits and Columbus City Schools district. However, the area is colloquially called New Albany. As far as this site I saw across Warner from UDF is under construction a Turkey Hill. These are probably just outlot buildings along Hamilton. UDF is also renovating in anticipation of Hamilton widening to two lanes in each direction from 161 to Central College. Also, across Hamilton from UDF is under construction something as well. I thought it was Columbus Recs and Parks land, but I haven't seen anything about what is being built.
  11. New Albany proper has much, much better development than this. This is using up the entirety of the parcel with very little greenspace. Awful development. This really should have been like the Pointe projects.
  12. Thrive strikes again. Seven buildings with >500 entirely surface lot parking spaces. The two buildings along Walton will be three floors. The other five will be four.
  13. This is Stonehenge we're talking about. Remember how long it took them to build the Pierce and Valencia buildings? I'd be surprised if these apartments are delivered before 2027.
  14. It's just going to be a Rally House. Maybe a renovation, but no different than the Conrad's that was there before.
  15. They must be officially moving forward on building a data center on their land in Lancaster.
  16. The central turn lanes are for the dozens of residential properties still on those roads.
  17. I was over by Bubbly Hall yesterday. I noticed this lot across the street had a sign saying something about mixed retail and residences coming in 2025. Labeled "Bubbly Corner". Apparently the same company who did Bubbly Hall bought this in 2021 and plans two, three story apartment-over-retail buildings along Central College, and five suburban two story, four-unit condos at the rear of the property. And of course a massive surface lot between the two.
