  1. Most people probably view suburbs not by their physical boundaries, but by the boundaries of their school district and/or ZIP codes.
  2. Westerville North (25-2) wins the Division II State Championship 78-46 over Massillon Perry (14-14). Cinderella run is over. https://www.dispatch.com/story/sports/high-school/basketball/2025/03/21/ohsaa-basketball-state-championship-westerville-north-massillon-perry/82497054007/
  3. • Fulton Park Tower has 260 planned apartment units – 1, 2, & 3 bedrooms stacked in the upper 13 levels of the tower • 700 parking spaces stacked in the lower 12 levels of the tower • Close proximity to affluent German Village Neighborhood • State of the art amenities • Historic character • Dog park • Wellness and health focus with commercial air filtration and industrial water filtration
  4. Even the eternal pessimist in the face of obvious growth, Bill LaFayette, is saying, "This is about the best news I've seen on our economy in ages." 2024 employment gains in Columbus area 5 times higher than initial estimates "I thought we were going down the tubes – and it turns out we're doing pretty much OK." Employment grew by 13,900 in metropolitan Columbus over 2023, not 2,700 new jobs as estimated at year's end, according to new figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics compiled by LaFayette. When preparing his annual forecast in January, LaFayette figured that 2,700 was too low, but even his estimate of last year's growth was "a measly 4,500" jobs. https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2025/03/19/columbus-metro-employment-2024-correction.html
  5. You don't just go by a simple radius. Look at media markets: Three smallest MLB markets: 37 Cincinnati 38 Milwaukee 40 Las Vegas Markets without teams: 15 Orlando 20 Sacramento 21 Charlotte 22 Raleigh 23 Portland 25 Indianapolis 26 Nashville 28 Salt Lake City 31 San Antonio 32 Hartford 34 Austin 35 Columbus 36 Greenville, SC
  6. Estimated population growth for Cuyahoga is +1,915 (0.15%) 2023-2024. It's still -24,181 (-1.91%) 2020-2024. The whole of Ohio grew 59,270 (0.50%) 2023-2024. It's +83,851 (0.71%) 2020-2024.
  7. It's funny they think there was one where Dunkin is now on 62. That was vacant before Dunkin. It was never a Panda Express. Also, a small retail center is planned behind that Panda Express with a patio overlooking the detention pond. Interesting suburban use. Might end up pretty nice.
  8. I talked about this last summer. It's also the parcel south of here. https://urbanohio.com/topic/43-columbus-random-development-and-news/page/63/#findComment-1157355
  9. This will be along 33 NNW of the Scott's facility. Not SW.
  10. They cancelled leases so Dispatch is assuming this means the sites they own aren't moving forward even though it says its AI plan is still on track?
  11. The roundabout has been there for at least six years. The improvements last year extended the multi-use path south from here to Kendal Ln. This year it'll make it all the way to Powell Rd where it'll connect to the extensive network of paths in the Polaris area and Westerville.
  12. Those are parcels for single family builds. All the existing houses were demolished after being used for fire training this past year. It's a clean slate. Last I saw they've left the majority of the trees, too!
  13. That could have been written better. I'd assume the total square footage of 45,400 is for the spaces combined, not each.
  14. If only the city had bought the LJS lot. We could've had a roundabout.
  15. Putting this here as technically Downtown's western boundary is the NS railroad.
  16. A spree is more than one purchase. Record $6.4 billion revenue $226 million addition to the outpatient cancer center at HQ $31 million for Canal Winchester medical offices $200 million expansion of Dublin Methodist $600 million women's health center All announced after they said they couldn't afford to do Grant properly.
  17. OhioHealth continues its spending spree less than two years after saying they couldn't afford to do Grant right. Big Lots looking to sell HQ to Central Ohio hospital system at a loss "Big Lots Inc. is seeking court approval to sell its corporate headquarters to OhioHealth Corp. for $36 million. The Columbus-based retailer, which was acquired last month by Gordon Brothers, remains in the midst of a Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization. OhioHealth proposed "the highest or otherwise best offer," which would avoid the expense of a lengthy marketing or auction process unlikely to yield a higher sale price, Big Lots said in the motion filed last week in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the state of Delaware." https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2025/02/11/big-lots-bankruptcy-sell-hq-ohiohealth.html
  18. Yeah it's weird. Here's what they're going with: Why not just something like this?: My layout saves a thicket of trees, too.
  19. I believe he was talking about 161. However, four years ago I made this High Street subway map: https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1Ut7LfK3jzjKFh7JNYQAdiqf9NIAcH18f&usp=sharing
  20. It's not the greatest lot to walk through to the Kroger, but it's rarely busy enough to be a hassle. I just wish it connected to the sidewalked neighborhood behind it. I lived on Main across from Flyer's for three years. I regularly walked to Kroger. Usually I'd go back through that neighborhood to Degenhart and back up Lesleh instead of walking down Main. I also regularly walked down to Ace Hardware and the farmer's market, again the back way to Wirt instead of Main. I also walked my dog all over creation around Groveport. Down to the rec center, around and back etc. It's no walker's paradise, but Groveport is definitely walkable. More so now than when I moved four plus years ago.
