Military drone contractor Anduril plans Columbus-area factory that will employ 4,000 workers "In addition to the 4,000 jobs, Arsenal-1 is expected to create 4,500 indirect jobs, more than $2 billion in annual economic output and $800 million in taxes over the next decade, according to state estimates. Anduril and state officials announced the project Thursday morning and planned a 9 a.m. news conference at Rickenbacker for more details. Anduril announced in August that it had secured $1.5 billion to develop Arsenal-1 "the manufacturing platform for modern warfare. With Arsenal, Andurilβs goal is to manufacture and produce tens of thousands of autonomous weapons systems addressing the urgent needs of the United States and our allies." The factory will be "designed to produce tens of thousands of autonomous military systems annually," according to Anduril. Such "hyperscale" production will be possible by keeping products simple and made from readily available materials, the company said." https://www.dispatch.com/story/business/2025/01/16/pickaway-county-military-drone-factory-to-employ-4000-workers/77714248007/- Pickaway County: Anduril Arsenal-1
Defense-tech startup making autonomous weapons pledges 4,000 jobs for Central Ohio "A defense-tech unicorn has chosen Central Ohio for an advanced manufacturing complex to make huge arsenal of drones and autonomous weapons for the U.S. Anduril Industries Inc. aims to start production early next year at the plant called Arsenal 1 and create 4,000 jobs by 2035, company and state officials announced Thursday. Ohio beat all 49 other states searched, Anduril Chief Strategy Officer Chris Brose said in a teleconference with reporters and state officials. "We believe that the next arsenal of democracy will be made in Ohio and it will consist of thousands and thousands of high-tech autonomous systems and weapons," Brose said. The site in northern Pickaway County has a 700,000-square-foot facility ready for modifications, so Anduril can start production quickly, Brose said. That was one of the enticements, since the startup has military contracts with pressing timelines." https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2025/01/16/anduril-aresenal-defense-plant-rickenbacker.html- Columbus: Children's Hospital Projects

I agree. It's just funny that Galyan's was almost exactly this 20+ years ago (then bought by d**k's).- Columbus: Retail News
I'm sure this new concept will have all of that. Seems like they're bringing all their brands under one name.- Dublin: Bridge Park / Bridge Street District Developments and News
aderwent replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionYes, that is why I said the hotel was labeled incorrectly. That's where the first floor lobby and hotel restaurant are, and the second floor amenities, but the hotel is obviously where it's just labeled event and spa; those being on the first and second floors respectively.- Columbus: Retail News
I never understood why they tried Field & Stream / Public Lands right across the street from Cabela's. This "new" concept sounds exactly like Galyan's π. House of Sport to replace d**k's Sporting Goods and Public Lands at Polaris Fashion Place "d**k's Sporting Goods and its sister store, Public Lands, are liquidating their Polaris Fashion Place locations to make way for a new interactive sports store. Store officials told customers the stores would close after liquidation to make way for a d**k's House of Sport store, a two-year-old concept from d**k's that combines a retail sporting goods store with sports training such as batting cages, climbing walls, fitness classes and indoor golf. Plans submitted to the city call for a two-level store. "House of Sport is an approximately 100,000+ square foot store that provides customers with an incredible assortment of products along with in-store experiences including a climbing wall, multiple golf bays with TrackManTM simulators, and multi-sport cages that can be used for baseball, softball, lacrosse and soccer and give customers an opportunity to try product while measuring and tracking their performance," according to a company announcement about previous openings." https://www.dispatch.com/story/business/2025/01/03/house-of-sport-concept-replace-dicks-sporting-goods-public-lands-at-polaris-mall/77428393007/- Columbus: Fifth by Northwest (5xNW) Development and News

The college released designs for the facility, which is the result of a previously announced partnership between the college and Central Ohio's largest hospital system β OhioHealth. OhioHealth invested $25 million in the partnership to increase the number of healthcare workers in the in-demand field of nursing. Registered nurses and other healthcare positions make up roughly one in every seven job postings in Central Ohio, according to data from labor market analytics tool Lightcast." https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2024/11/22/cscc-ohiohealth-center-for-health-sciences-design.html- Columbus: Downtown: Capitol Square Renaissance (Edwards Cos.)
