  1. How? If it's not rocket science you should be able to explain it.
  2. Of course it is. It has to be. How does this affect the total population at a given radius?
  3. Again, how does this affect total population? If the lake weren't there it would have never been built as dense as it was.
  4. I really don't get the thinking that the lake hurts population figures in exercises like this. Did people not move to Cleveland because they couldn't live north of downtown? It grew more dense because of the lake, and because of industry that needed to be close to the lake. Especially since its greatest growth happened before cars and highways took over development patterns. The only thing the lake did was effect density, and only in a positive way. I don't see how it has anything to do with total population. The built density is still there, and you can clearly feel it. That's what most people feel when they say Cleveland just feels so much bigger and more urban. Because it is. It's just not filled in at the moment. Though that's starting to change thankfully.
  5. The two parcels north of this site are the owners of this parcel as well. That puts it at ~.80 acres. If they're also working with the two parcels that have King frontage that would put it near a full acre. Should be a nice size building regardless. Now about that Library-adjacent hotel... Edit* also it's 1331 N High, not 1131.
  6. A view of the completed Trautman building:
  7. The engineering for this is much more considering the parcel, and 6 of the 28 Millennial Tower floors will be parking garage. A much cheaper building is pretty easy to believe. Still don't think they're going to ever break ground for it.
  8. Pretty sure the city owns the entirety of the Scioto Peninsula.
  9. Update: Fox in the Snow will open Jan. 12 in New Albany; Dublin up next? http://www.thisweeknews.com/news/20190102/update-fox-in-snow-will-open-jan-12-in-new-albany-dublin-up-next
  10. Three major subdivisions are being built in Johnstown https://www.dispatch.com/homes/20190108/three-major-subdivisions-are-being-built-in-johnstown
  11. Columbus Castings site cleared; owner negotiating with developer https://www.dispatch.com/business/20190108/columbus-castings-site-cleared-owner-negotiating-with-developer
  12. Some shots from the grand opening October 28th:
  13. Uncommon still without retail tenants...
  14. An update to this. 600 apartments set to open this year after 500 opened last year. That will bring us to over 9,900 residents downtown.
  15. Maybe Rogue is building a MMA & bodybuilding arena?
  16. Yeah, I drive by it a few times a week. It was impressive to watch. The street presence is very nice. Also, catty corner across the tracks that Ohio Brewing taproom always has multiple vehicles there. They must have gotten a lot of work done on the inside. Not much outside, though. A bunch of the houses lining 2nd have been rehabbed over there, too. Short North spillover has turned into Italian Village spillover. The neighborhood's looking great!
  17. Although I agree we need to build more, we're building more now and in the last 5 years sans 2015 than we did in the peak of 2007:

For anybody wanting to see some updated satellite imagery for Columbus I've noticed the Android Google Maps has imagery from ~January/February of this year. The desktop website nor Google Earth appear to be updated, strangely.
  19. This is still scheduled for a May 2019 opening: Also, the Schumaker Center from this photo is complete and looks quite nice. Sorry, no picture: Funny, this maps shows a "future indoor track" and "future ice arena", but not the future Ty Tucker Tennis Center just east of the Covelli Center that received approval and will be built starting August 2019. The rich get richer when it comes to OSU athletics. They're going to have killer facilities in almost every sport. It's really looking good over there.
  20. This is still just sitting. Some framing done for the retail spot. Looks like the owner (SWAC IV LLC) is delinquent on their property tax, too...
  21. These are nearing completion as I saw while driving by on 315. Will be a nice spot to live if you're a Crew fan. Also, another 250 units opening in the 43215. Should reach +7,000 by 2020.
  22. The one in Westerville looks pretty good: https://www.google.com/maps/@40.1059,-82.926394,3a,60y,4.56h,88.78t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sjD5dzJIkR87S9KsrzuBAZA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 But yes, this ORR Aloft and most others are quite ugly. The back of this fronts a railroad. Not sure why they wouldn't buffer the hotel with parking in the rear. My guess is because Cap City owns the land, and they wanted the parking to remain close to the restaurant.
