Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
How? If it's not rocket science you should be able to explain it.

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
Of course it is. It has to be. How does this affect the total population at a given radius?

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
Again, how does this affect total population? If the lake weren't there it would have never been built as dense as it was.

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
I really don't get the thinking that the lake hurts population figures in exercises like this. Did people not move to Cleveland because they couldn't live north of downtown? It grew more dense because of the lake, and because of industry that needed to be close to the lake. Especially since its greatest growth happened before cars and highways took over development patterns. The only thing the lake did was effect density, and only in a positive way. I don't see how it has anything to do with total population. The built density is still there, and you can clearly feel it. That's what most people feel when they say Cleveland just feels so much bigger and more urban. Because it is. It's just not filled in at the moment. Though that's starting to change thankfully.

Columbus: Harrison West / Dennison Place Developments and News
aderwent replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThe two parcels north of this site are the owners of this parcel as well. That puts it at ~.80 acres. If they're also working with the two parcels that have King frontage that would put it near a full acre. Should be a nice size building regardless. Now about that Library-adjacent hotel... Edit* also it's 1331 N High, not 1131.

Columbus: Downtown: Hilton Columbus Downtown Tower II
The engineering for this is much more considering the parcel, and 6 of the 28 Millennial Tower floors will be parking garage. A much cheaper building is pretty easy to believe. Still don't think they're going to ever break ground for it.

Columbus: Italian Village Developments and News
aderwent replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionYeah, I drive by it a few times a week. It was impressive to watch. The street presence is very nice. Also, catty corner across the tracks that Ohio Brewing taproom always has multiple vehicles there. They must have gotten a lot of work done on the inside. Not much outside, though. A bunch of the houses lining 2nd have been rehabbed over there, too. Short North spillover has turned into Italian Village spillover. The neighborhood's looking great!

Columbus: Population Trends
Although I agree we need to build more, we're building more now and in the last 5 years sans 2015 than we did in the peak of 2007:

For anybody wanting to see some updated satellite imagery for Columbus I've noticed the Android Google Maps has imagery from ~January/February of this year. The desktop website nor Google Earth appear to be updated, strangely.

Columbus: OSU / University Area Developments and News
aderwent replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThis is still scheduled for a May 2019 opening: Also, the Schumaker Center from this photo is complete and looks quite nice. Sorry, no picture: Funny, this maps shows a "future indoor track" and "future ice arena", but not the future Ty Tucker Tennis Center just east of the Covelli Center that received approval and will be built starting August 2019. The rich get richer when it comes to OSU athletics. They're going to have killer facilities in almost every sport. It's really looking good over there.

Columbus: Olentangy River Road Developments
aderwent replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThe one in Westerville looks pretty good: https://www.google.com/maps/@40.1059,-82.926394,3a,60y,4.56h,88.78t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sjD5dzJIkR87S9KsrzuBAZA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 But yes, this ORR Aloft and most others are quite ugly. The back of this fronts a railroad. Not sure why they wouldn't buffer the hotel with parking in the rear. My guess is because Cap City owns the land, and they wanted the parking to remain close to the restaurant.
