  1. Under construction in street view is the continuation of that project north to the Starbucks. That is completely finished as well. Now they're doing the same thing along Cleveland Avenue from 270 to Sharon Woods Metro Park/St Ann's Hospital.
  2. Impressive to me was the crowd. We haven't had a crowd like that in years. 17,599 in the house while two miles away the Blue Jackets had 16,535 in house for a game at the same time!

I like how most Clevelanders like to have it both ways. Columbus is only populated because it is one giant suburb via annexation. But then turn to market size to show how much bigger Cleveland is. An area of 8,500 square miles, almost triple that of Columbus's CSA, encompassing every suburb and small town in the entire NEO. Back on track, Columbus's median age is ~34. Cleveland's is 36. GDP/capita is higher in Columbus. Also the aforementioned growth vs decline. The Columbus IKEA is positioned on the far north end of town for a couple reasons. 1. All the wealthiest zip codes in Columbus surround Polaris. 2. It's not unreasonably far from some in the Cleveland area. And another lot of them are closeish to the Pittsburgh location. Also, they probably have credit card data on whom is coming from where to buy their stuff. Obviously they feel Cleveland is not a top priority now. That doesn't mean it will never happen. More money is to be made in other markets right now.
  4. Those same economists said 3% GDP growth was impossible. Yet here we are.
  5. Yep, I saw them taking it down on Saturday. I would imagine we would hear something soon as long as the two River's Edge buildings are leasing well. I'm hoping the next building will include some type of mixed-use space. I think a restaurant right there on the park could do very well. Also, I'm hoping the next building pushes 15-20 stories, but I won't hold my breath. I'm guessing it will probably be around the 8-10 story range to stay consistent with the other buildings lining the park. Parks Edge I is completely sold out. 69 units. Parks Edge II has 82 units. They'll sell well too, but I'd rather an apartment tower with ground floor retail (a grocery?!) be Parks Edge III.
  6. Here the LC Matan looks near ground breaking. This is taken from the lot where Millennial Tower is proposed. Behind is the recently opened 303 Main and the Julian to the left.
  7. Here is what is being called Southern Tier at Front and Whittier streets. It is adjacent to the entrance to Scioto Audubon Metro Park. The corner opposite here has a sweet old brick factory for lease for office space that would be perfect for residential conversion if you ask me.
  8. River and Rich from under the train tracks over Rich. Impressive street presence. The warehouse to the left is right against the tracks and used to have plans for a residential conversion. It must have fallen through. One block north is Out of Town which you can see being framed here. Looking north from there you see Gravity rising. Gravity also has a nice street presence on Broad.
  9. Speaking of Stonehenge projects taking forever...
  10. Will be interesting watching this view build up over the years. At top left you can see River and Rich topped out. Obviously the National Veterans Memorial and Museum in the foreground and Gravity behind that across the tracks. Both of those said "opening summer 2018".
  11. Why wouldn't they build ground floor retail in the office building, and give the current tenants a chance to rent the new spaces? A single use office building deep inside campus seems like a total waste of property.
  12. In GDP/Capita: 1. Columbus: $64,049 2. Cleveland-Elyria: $62,969 3. Cincinnati: $60,971 4. Toledo: $54,787 5. Lima: $53,199 6. Akron: $53,117 7. Dayton: $50,672 8. Canton-Massillon: $40,727 9. Youngstown-Warren-Boardman: $36,652 10. Mansfield: $35,861 11. Springfield: $32,029 Edit: Forgot Youngstown.
  13. Pen West was the name some gave to the NRI & City of Columbus properties west of the railroad tracks. Not sure if that'll be the name they use. Schottenstein appears to want to have its own little district here instead of tying into a greater neighborhood. Same with the White Castle property.
  14. A more substantial project could provide more TIF revenue to pay for better infrastructure. This site plan is a pedestrian nightmare.
  15. Nice work. Much better site plan and it probably took you 10 minutes lol. I don't get why the connection to Grand Central curves around the parking garage, instead of continuing straight and linking up at the 315/Goodale light. Then the outlet is between that light and another existing light at Michigan/Goodale. Why not hook into that light? Also, they really should be building a multi-use trail along the east side of the Olentangy here. You shouldn't have to cross the street here to get to the Goodale Connector, then ride down the west side of the river and then have to cross the river again at some point to get to downtown. Other than that, glad to hear the commission's concerns. Way too much surface parking. Not enough height, and apparently no retail at all. At least a coffee shop and cafe should be there for residents and employees for breakfast/lunch. Maybe that's what the community center thing is all about, but IDK. I think White Castle needs to contact Borror or Kaufman to get this project where it should be.
  16. From CU's article on the proposal: "Schottenstein Real Estate Group also plans to bring on a joint venture partner for the project, and is currently in talks with a number of different developers. The level of interest from national developers in the project has been strong, as has interest from potential tenants, according to Schottenstein. 'It’s very exciting, and really shows how much Columbus has grown,' he said. 'Several big name national chains have reached out to us already…that’s a really good sign that Columbus is ready to enter that big-city status, and we think this project will help take it to that next level.'" http://www.columbusunderground.com/proposal-calls-for-apartments-condos-hotels-and-more-on-vacant-land-next-to-arena-district-bw1
  17. https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2017/08/08/exclusive-23-acre-arena-district-resort-style.html?ana=twt Interesting: "Initial planning includes three hotels, with one featuring a rooftop restaurant, plus a grocery store, conference center, extended stay hotel, restaurant row and boutique retail. There's more: There will be a 10- to 12-story condo tower, a 12- to 15- story apartment tower and plenty of parking."
  18. Parks Edge I and II from Broad Street: Also peeking out all the way from Rich Street:
  19. Facade starting to go on the Trautman Building: Here you can see quite a bit of the action in the 'hood. 303 Main between the trees on the right, the elevator cores for the Beatty Building starting to poke up behind the RiverSouth garage, and even 80 on the Commons way in the back:
