  1. Curate is an Abbott Nutrition brand. I know EAS, also owned by Abbott, has offices in the AD. Perhaps Curate does as well.
  2. Noticed today they have painted this house black. Still not sure how I feel about it.
  3. Meh. They're clustered in major business areas. A plus to me. ETA: They're missing a large apartment complex that was recently completed (or very near completion) at the SE corner of 161/Sunbury Rd. Anybody see any others missing? They're missing the proposed White Castle, Taco Bell, the conversion just south of the Taco Bell, the building taking over the 2 set-back buildings north of Donatos, the apartments on Prescott alley behind the Hub garage, and the Aston Place apartments just off the top of my head.
  4. So instead of this: We get this: Disgusting misuse of over $100 million. That could have been spent on that fieldhouse across 3rd. The commissioners who approved this better not be reelected. So short sighted. How's it Wagenbrenner/Rockbridge fault the GCCC built a Hilton with 1/3 of the rooms a view of the inside of a parking garage?
  5. http://www.thisweeknews.com/content/stories/westerville/news/2015/02/24/koble-greek-italian-grill-opens-after-partners-yearlong-effort.html Another bar for uptown Westerville. That makes 3 for the once "Dry Capital of the World". http://www.thisweeknews.com/content/stories/westerville/news/2015/02/24/northstar-cafe-owners-taking-time-opening-pushed-to-16.html Northstar still planning a restaurant, but it won't open until 2016. Construction to start in the spring. http://www.thisweeknews.com/content/stories/Westerville365/2015/first-quarter/uptowns-uptick.html A nice article on uptown Westerville. Mentioned is 8 State Bistro to open later this year.
  6. I'm in agreement with the "keep money from leaving the state" argument. However, I think this proposal could be better. More of a free market approach as has been mentioned. I don't like the casino for Toledo either. I think Columbus's would do the best, because it will be in the thriving Arena District, and will encounter the least amount of competition. Maybe they can integrate it with the new convention center hotel... Personally, I'd like to see the Columbus casino site used for a new Crew stadium. As long as it integrates with what's there already, instead of being a typical casino, I guess I'd be fine with it. As for "green tech"... Ohio isn't really the greatest for that. Wind and solar wouldn't really work here. I do think we need to invest in fiber optic networks though. That would be a boon to further high tech development.

could i possibly get one, or are you all out?
  8. very true. it'd be cool to have him here, but as long as he keeps the team succeeding up there, i doubt they'll move down. i think the team would flourish here though. get more use out of nationwide too. speaking of that. why not move the state high school basketball playoffs to nationwide? you have a state of the art arena and you choose to play at the outdated fairgrounds coliseum? unless there's a blue jackets game or the occasional concert, nationwide arena sits empty. get more use out of it, and they wouldn't be posting such losses.
  9. yeah, there's not much around north, other than houses. but county line road is 35/45, which goes to every north/south arterial in westerville. not sure which way you went. i would suggest going uptown. also, the whole altair development soon will be a walking friendly place with a promenade, offices, restaurants, etc: http://visitaltair.com/master_map.html (part of a bigger plan): http://www.westerville.org/Portals/0/WestarJan2009v4.pdf it's a suburb, so there's not much to expect urban-wise, but i'd say they've done better than most suburbs development-wise.
  10. something i found outlining how they want to change the south state street corridor: http://www.westerville.org/Portals/0/Split_12809.wmv i like.
  11. any updates at all on altair/westar development? i know the office occupancy up there in westerville is almost 100%. btw, i like the smart way westerville has grown and expanded. pedestrian and bike friendly, fewer big box stores with massive street facing parking lots, and lots of parks. anyone on these boards familiar with westerville?
  12. how about the cavs' owner moves them to columbus in return for the casino being built? that would help with the nationwide arena financing too, i'd think. if not, that parcel west of huntington park is not well suited for condos and offices, imho. it's in close proximity to open rail and two highways (315 & 670). i'd rather see a relocation of crew stadium down there, with some park space and such to tag along. since crew stadium would leave the fairgrounds area, you might as well move the ohio historical society from that abomination of a building, and combine it somehow with cosi. two lackluster "attractions" combined could help with attendance. what to do with all the land leftover in the fairgrounds area is beyond me. i'm sure they could find something to do with it though. just throwing out some ideas...
