  1. In other news.... Roundstone Management plans to move HQ from Westlake to historic church in Lakewood, with $50,000 forgivable loan http://www.cleveland.com/lakewood/index.ssf/2016/01/roundstone_management_applies.html
  2. Does anyone know what the structure is being built on the former GetGo location on Detroit? I had heard a pizza place but was looking for specifics. Thanks!
  3. Plantation Home or Cotton?
  4. "Just like in Chicago, Cleveland employers have made it clear access to public transit is a priority for attracting new employees." They have? I interviewed for two downtown jobs last year. Both of them offered incentives for using public transportation. Ironically, the namesake of the HealthLine, Cleveland Clinic, does not offer any incentives.
  5. The owner John who was gay died last year, but the family took it over as a not necessarily gay, but inclusive bar. Here is the article where they are stating "It's not a gay bar, it's a social club that is gay-friendly". Sorry to confuse you so. http://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2014/08/twist_on_clevelands_west_side.html Honey, it's a gay bar.
  6. Heard a few rumors regarding this area: 1) The owner of the Diner on Clifton has bought the former PNC bank building and will be relocating there but lots of work to do for build out. The appeal is to be an owner of the building and not a tenant in a strip. 2) A barber shop is going in next to TWIST on the other side 3) TWIST will more than likely expnad into the old Diner space 4) Starbucks is moving into the end of the plaza into the old Charter One spot All rumors... but quite interesting ones. Anyone know anything else?
  7. Ok you're right. I'm wrong. Sorry for voicing an opinion on a forum!
  8. Can anything besides a bar or restaurant be built in this town? It's getting old. You mean besides the hundreds of new residences under construction or about to be, the 1200+ new hotels rooms set to open by this time next summer, a massive public square makeover, a half a billion dollars in new bridges, new convention ctr, improvements along the river-boardwalk/rowing center/water taxi/canal pathway, further improvement to Edgewater park/beach house/ shore way conversion, downtown grocery store, Giegers Sports... What would you suggest? You missed the point.

  10. So hypothetically (), if it turned out that after construction the Shoreway once again had three lanes, you'd be less concerned, yes? I don't think that is the sole issue. Do you use this route for your morning and afternoon commute currently?
  11. Agreed - this thing is a mess. How is it going to get better after construction? It is still going to be two lanes only, and an even slower mph. My commute has been a total nightmare and taking the bus would not alleviate it at all seeing as they sit in traffic on the shoreway as does every other car. Coming home is even worse. While aesthetically it will look better, functionally this was not thought out well enough. Or it was thought out by people who do not live in the area and use this thoroughfare.
  12. As a commuter from Lakewood, this thing has killed my commute every morning. Coupled with the work being done on the shoreway, that whole corridor is a boondoggle. It is not regulated by cops - I see it happen every day. The signage is barely noticeable unless you're looking. Additionally the traffic is sooooo backed up. I cannot believe how much it has changed. My commute used to be so easy. And to think this is going to go on during this whole conversion process. I am having a hard time seeing how when the work is all done, anything will change about it.
  13. One more on a hot and humid Cleveland morning.
  14. Might as well throw up mine too.
  15. It kind of reminds me of the Juvenile Court building on Quincy Ave.
  16. We've been hearing those rumors for a while now, but still, what an awful idea. Tower City Cinemas are much more accessible to moviegoers from both sides of the city as well as downtown residents. Crocker on the Cuyahoga indeed. Well away from the noisy teenagers that yell, text and laugh at Tower City movies. I don't go there any more for that reason, as well as the theaters projection and audio were out of date. Movie theaters themselves are close to being out of date. It is a dated business model propped up by inertia and the residual clout of the theater chains. Disruptive kids are part of the reason why, and ironically a significant chunk of their current clientele. Within five years at least one of the major studios is going to release a blockbuster direct to online video that can't have its image tainted by doing so. That's going to open the floodgates. Most likely it will be a kids' movie. I would have said potentially one expected to trigger violence, but since Straight Outta Compton triggered none, I wonder if that's an issue anymore. Personally you won't find me at a big movie theater anytime soon. I prefer not to be a target. Until gun control laws are reformed. It's sad.
  17. They do it to differentiate between Columbus, OH and Columbus, GA Oh i had no idea. I wonder why they don't do that with Cleveland and Cleveland, TN?
  18. Funny how they always have to qualify Columbus with Ohio right after it. Hmmmmmmm
  19. I think Pugu might be referring to One Cleveland Center which was originally built for Medical Mutual Wow i had no idea and was confused. Thanks for clarifying. What are the cliffs notes on the story behind the move?
  20. The Medical Mutual building is ten stories.
  21. So I have to say this thread caused me to get in my car and make the drive over to see these Rockefeller homes and the ones on Forest Hill Avenue. The Rockefeller homes are amazing - I want one ha! I was so surprised how well taken care of this area is, despite the proximity to the park and the reputation that EC currently has. I wondered who lives in them - who has the guts to move in this area. Or are most of them people who have lived in them for years and know they couldn't sell them. In Shaker Heights, these houses would easily sell for double what some of them are now listed at. The homes on Forest Hills Ave are equally impressive, but not well taken care of. I saw one or two maybe. With the proximity to Univ. Circle, I think this area could see some gentrification, however. Sort of like Glenville.
  22. Yep - It was from today. I'll take some more as it goes up and post them. It is a pretty good vantage point.
  23. Here is a close-up as well from same picture

  25. I can confirm I also heard that Fat Heads was to go in the building but has since changed. I heard the reason was the furniture store was taking too long to vacate and the landlord wasn't enforcing a firm exit date. Additionally heard Bakersfield (taco joint) is to go in the opposite end of that building.
