  1. My guess is because they are not visible from the street. Maybe I'm wrong, but Barn Ct is not something that one would normally walk down.
  2. Incredible game by both teams, but especially by the Northview goalie. Ignatius was relentless throughout the match, but especially during the 7 overtimes. They outshot Northview 78-32 overall, including outshooting them 41-12 during the overtime periods.

  7. For HGF, it is not too bad. But it still is a very sub-par design. Not sure why someone would hire this firm for an urban townhouse project. At least it is up against the sidewalk and hides the garages pretty well.
  8. I like that the site plan does include new streets and keeps the development from becoming a something akin to the large apartment developments you see in the burbs. But the new east-west street does appear to be redundant with Breakwater remaining. Removing Breakwater does make sense if the rest of the industrial in that area eventually goes residential.
  9. People have been working at Jay on a daily basis for several months. No clue on Exhibit Builders. Duck Island north of Lorain/Carnegie is Oci. South of L/C is Tremont.

  11. ^Tremont and OC have these agreements about this type of stuff. When it comes to the CDCs, OCI handles the area of Duck Island that is north of Lorain. So, this development should be in the Ohio City thread. Also, it is almost in the shadow the of west side market.
  12. Regarding the new medical school building, there have been a lot of internal focus groups meeting and brainstorming about what students and professors need, want, like, etc. All the feedback is being given to the architect Foster. The process is very much alive and moving forward.
  13. Its hard for me not to feel that this will end up looking too "forced". I appreciate the desire to honor the past, but it is hard to actually pull it off well when you're incorporating it into a very formulaic use such as a mid-tier hotel.
  14. It already looks as if it is "ruined". The current facade appears to be 100% newish and uses all fairly cheap materials. The images on the landmarks page do not give any sort of idea of how the final proposed product will actually look.
  15. I do think the design is pretty awful and i actually prefer the gritty look of the status quo. That said, I believe that Ignatius has already purchased this building and I had assumed they'd demo it for parking. With this new use, it will add some foot traffic, but not a whole lot. This stretch of Lorain is institutional and one storefront is not going to change the feeling of 28th-32nd, although Ignatius does put thousands of feet on the ground at various times of the week.

And if you had to guess how tall based on the image you saw, i'm wondering if you might say it is just about as tall as the Breuer. ;) It's tough to say because the rendering had nothing else for perspective, but based on the "base" of the hotel, I assumed that was as tall as the medical mart (to keep in line with the group plan) and went from there. If I HAD to guess, I'd say 25-30 stories. I suggest you trust my hint.

  19. ^Just to clarify, OCI has no involvement in this new house. It is a 100% private project.
  20. ^ I remember walking by that house two months ago and thought that it looked really bad. It might have had a condemned sign on it. By taking a look at the site plan, I would venture the following guess: They are pointing out that there are 3 parcels (2 owners) left outside of CWRU control. Once they get control of the block, then they'll demo the block once they have a "higher and better use" planned" for the block. Until then, they'll make that corner lot look nice by planting some nice fruit trees, etc.

  22. Yes, it'll be a Marriott. I heard a few weeks back--but i can't remember the type of marriott. Maybe Edition. it was something that i had never heard of before.
  23. It is a drop-off area for the hotel. Just like the Renaissance drop off area on Superior.

  25. I understand the concern about the status quo. But the Hanna will soon at least 200 residents. Those 2 buildings (something near 90 combined apartments) and then the Breuer tower +Schoenfield will add hundreds of residents and hotel guests -- it'll soon be a new day on Euclid Ave between 9th and 17th.
