^where did you hear that? The PD says that things are close, but nothings official.
  2. Looks like the Avenue continues to sell well. According to its website, 29 (of 50) lofts have been sold and 14 (of 30) townhomes have been sold.
  3. Those two will do anything for a vote. They are widely considered to be two of the most grandstanding politicians that we've got. I'm not saying that everything that they do is bad (because its not), but this smacks of opportunism.
  4. The fact that Polensek and Reed are leading this charge just shows empty this all is.

Cincinnati fares lead U.S. airports At $500-plus per round trip, recent average airfares at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport were the highest in the nation among the top 100 airports, according to the latest government statistics. While the average domestic airfare in the first three months of 2007 was $380 -- down 0.6 percent from the same quarter in 2006 -- the average fare at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky airport was $531, according to a report released Wednesday by the U.S. Department of Transportation's Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Fares at the Hebron, Ky. airport, across the Ohio River from Cincinnati, rose 14.7 percent from $464 in the same period a year ago -- the highest increase in ticket prices among the top 100 airports, the bureau said. 6. Do you think that he'll buy St. Ignatius? ;) That main building would make some incredible condos. (just kidding, such talk is sacrilege for an alum like myself)
  7. I was thinking the same thing. That place has been very steady ever since it was built around 1990. Everyone hates it, but it would probably be a bad business decision to buy it, tear it down and build something nice.

  9. Wow, MRN is really making a large investment in Ohio City. On a smaller scale, a developer has bought the vacant duplex on Franklin that is adjacent to the old YMCA parking lot. He is proposing a three story condo building with a unit on each floor. The developer would live in the top unit and he's got two likely buyers for the other two. The neighbors in the Franklin-Clinton block club are putting the screws to the guy because he wants to knock down an existing (ugly, non-descript and greatly deteriorated) building.
  10. Welcome Tina! I just met a two other Detroiters who moved on over to Cleveland (Ohio City).
  11. If you move away from Cleveland, we will kill you.
  12. ^a different developer owns the buildings on Euclid next to the Huntington. ^Case is moving rather slowly.
  13. Zipsrifle, Is that you Charlie Frye?? ;)
  14. ^its hard to call for one when we already have one.
  15. Cle, Did you know that we've got 3 B&Bs in Ohio City? Off the top of my head (bc i really should be working) I'd put -1/3 into venture capital for new companies to start up downtown -1/3 into endowed private schools for certain inner city neighborhoods -1/6 into capital improvements (parks, green space, flats pedestrian bridge) for downtown -1/6 into helping turn CSU into a residential campus
  16. jpop, I guess you don't know much about cluster economies. Do you?

    C-Dawg, are you the devil?
  18. Well I can't claim to have been in the negotiating room, but that's what I heard.
  19. Jacobs didn't want to sell unless he could retain the air rights over the new court building. He claimed that he would later build a taller building on stilts over the court building.
  20. What about West 25th? Those ones are also buried.
  21. Nope, but we almost lost our house before we ever bought it.. My wife and I were house hunting and looked at our current house one evening. We loved it and decided to put an offer on it the next day at lunch. The next morning, I see a "west side house fire" headline on the Plain Dealer's website. Turns out that it was the house immediately next door to the home that we eventually bought. The homes are less than 10 feet about from each other and are made of wood. The fire department was surprised that it was able to keep the fire from taking down my house as well. There was slight damage to my house, so we decided to go ahead and make an offer.
  22. ^Its not always a bad thing if a private company makes some money in this city.
  23. Cleveland's mayor prefers working where it's quiet Quiet, please! Mayor at work Tuesday, July 24, 2007 Mark Naymik Plain Dealer Columnist Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson has a PR problem. Eighteen months into his first term, pun dits, some busi ness leaders and citizens - if those who call talk-ra dio shows are to be believed - ac cuse him of being invisible. They de mand to know what he is doing as the city struggles to keep people, jobs and peace within its borders. There is great irony in such complaints, because a big part of Jackson's appeal to voters and community leaders in 2005 was his aversion to publicity. ... 24. Ha! That was my plan all along!
  25. How many panels were donated? I had heard that they were going to get a small panel (3ft x3ft-ish) to be placed outside the school so that classes could monitor it. This headline makes it sound like they are putting a bunch of panels on the roof or something. Sure hope its the latter.
