moving to Cleveland from WA
funny, you just described the area around CWRU perfectly. Others will chime in soon, but I'd suggest googling for apartments in Little Italy, Cleveland Heights (Coventry, Cedar-Fairmount and Cedar-Lee neighborhoods) and Shaker Square. You'll find a lot of old apartments (1920s) in very walkable and transit friendly neighborhoods.

Walkable Communities
Ok, so living near a movie theater is much more important than living near good transit?!?!? Of course, everyone walks to the movies each day and no one needs to go to and from work everyday. That makes absolutely no sense.

Walkable Communities
Interesting, I've improved my walkability with each of my last three moves: Nashville, TN 21 points (I lived in the most walkable area of Nashville) Memphis, TN 25 points (I lived in the most walkable area of Memphis) Ohio City 60 points

Cleveland: Flats Developments (Non-Stonebridge or FEB)
fyi: The City has its sights set on 2014 for a Canal Basin opening. They don't want to open it until the towpath reaches downtown.

Sheff needs to shut up before he hurts himself and/or his team. Claiming that the umps are corrupt is not a good thing to do.

Cleveland: Will law firm's expansion lead to new office construction downtown?
No decision has been made yet. I don't believe that BP is still in the running.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
I would hate to think about how downtown would look if we didn't build Gateway. Considering our economy, you have to take into account the amount of jobs that we retained because of this project as well as the new ones gained.

Ohio's 3 major cities ranked by office space
I have to disagree on this one. Retail will continue to be built where there is a market. With new homes going up in the burbs, you'll see more and more retail construction. So what then happens to all the old storefronts in Lakewood, Cleveland, etc. Nothing. They sit vacant. They are "outdated". There is no market correction, only market saturation. I also think that you forget to take into account geography and density when comparing Japan and the UK to American retail. We're sprawling out like crazy with big boxes going up all over the place. The boxes are massive and could fit well over 100 small mom and pop stores within them. Japan can't build that way because of land values and a lack of space. England wouldn't build that way because of how their cities are set up.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
I think that Ignatius' presence has really helped the growth that has occurred to its north and east. It is a very insulating presence. At the same time, its sheer size coupled with a fire station, Wendy's and the West Side Catholic Center keeps the W.25 momentum from continuing west.

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News
The above map is where W.54th dead-ends into the Shoreway. The last that I had heard about Stonewater was that it was awaiting the Council decision on tax abatement. Considering that Council pretty much voted to continue the abatement, I'm assuming that Stonewater is moving forward.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
^ While I agree with your ideas on regionalism, I don't think that is a short term solution. Medical Mart would give up on Cleveland by the time we put together some sort of regional structure.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
They are moving it out to Crocker Park. ;) I think that it will be directly adjacent to the West Side Catholic Center. I believe that I saw workers preparing a new foundation for the building.
