That temp worker building is only one story and is made of some very ugly brick. If losing that building is the trade-off for getting something nice built on the giant Z lot, then its well worth it.

Strip District proposed in flats???

It depends upon where you look. The area between CSU and E.55 is really coming along well. I'm starting to become very impressed with this project.

Try doing some research into Burton Bell Carr. I believe that they are the cdc who is behind much of that development.

Strip District proposed in flats???
I know that two more will definitely add more business to the area, but how come no one has ever mentioned that they had no problem moving in next to an existing strip club? It seems somewhat hypocritical. Still, I think that this is a 'lesser of two evils' decision by the city. Peabody, do you really think that Hustler would want to go just anywhere in the city? You know that they wouldn't, so I think its disingenuous to suggest that they'd be ok with moving to any old empty building in the city. I've heard that Hustler pretty much twisted the city's arm on this one and wouldn't budge. They wanted one building and told the city that if they don't get it that they would not sell. Flint has a lot of cash and he said that one or two million more from Wolstein wouldn't make a difference to him. Also, I don't see Cleveland becoming the laughing stock of city planning classrooms. City planning is not taught that way. That said, I think that this whole situation s*cks. It will affect Stonebridge. It may not have a huge affect, but it will slow down growth. KD is lucky that almost all of the proposed development moves towards the north.

Evergrey, W28th did not personally attack you in any way, shape or form. Just because someone challenges your potentially-flawed logic, it does not mean that they are personally attacking you. When you made a mistake on your fifth grade math test, did you consider it a personal attack when your teacher pointed it out?

Cleveland: Filling in Euclid Avenue
Actually, I think the majority of Eli's money is coming from NYC investors. Also, I'm sure that Eli is going with rentals because of the historic tax credits. Once the 4 or 5 yrs have passed, he'll probably start converting them to condos.

Uh, what photos are you referring to? Are they in the PD? Isn't it the PD who would have secured those photos?

Can it work in Cleveland? Chicago's rich retail heritage lies behind the city's successful Merchandise Mart. A Medical Mart in Cleveland might be able to feed off our health-care prestige. Wednesday, June 27, 2007 Sarah Hollander Plain Dealer Reporter Sit. Recline. Pat the upholstery. Confer with colleagues. For hours on end, throngs of taste makers and potential buyers tested office chairs during a recent trade show at Chicago’s Merchandise Mart. The one-on-one time could eventually land a company’s 2008 model behind hundreds of desks in new or renovated office buildings. To picture the Medical Mart proposed for Cleveland, replace ergonomic desk chairs with stethoscopes or MRI machines. The company that operates the massive Merchandise Mart thinks a smaller mart featuring health-care products would succeed in Cleveland. And that the mart, in return, could help resuscitate the city. ?? Did you mean to include an emoticon in your post? Or you could just buy them online. Its a lot cheaper that way. I really hope that this has a cafe in it. There is hardly anywhere to hang out on campus. Once the UC is torn down, students will need somewhere to go. If there isn't any coffee shops, etc nearby, they'll leave.
