Try the city's brand-spanking new Strip District in the Flats. It's fun for the whole family! (Maybe I shouldn't have used "spanking" in the same sentence as "Strip District"?) yeah, I thought that you couldn't touch the ladies in the Cleveland strip clubs.

I think that you are thinking of the One Charter Place development (32nd and Detroit). The Detroit-Superior project is at 28th and Detroit. I noticed the graffiti on my morning jog. It is some plea for a guy to come back home. By the way, I love the candle graffiti that is on this building.

i don't see the article anywhere. Can you provide a link?
  8. how do the maintenance cost projections for BRT stack up against a subway?
  9. Its really a vague degree. Its almost liberal arts-esque.
  10. From the rendering, it looks like the entire first floor would be retail. From the floor plans (which are for when this building was to be 5 floors), it looks like there will be a bunch of parking on the first floor. Currently, the Detroit corridor does not need much more retail. But with the proposed influx of new housing units, there will be a need for basic services on Detroit.
  11. I totally agree. We look for the negative way too often in this city. Unfortunately, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
  12. The Plain Dealer Rival gangs talk truce after a violet spring Friday, June 22, 2007 Stan Donaldson, Plain Dealer Reporter Reese didn’t quite know what he got himself into when he hopped into a van headed to the St. Clair Superior Development Corp. building. “Is this a setup?” the skinny teen asked driver Steve “Black” Nolan. “You trying to get us locked up, man?” It’s not every day that rival teen gang members voluntarily surrender their guns and take rides to secret, neutral ground to talk about a truce. ... www.cleveland.com
  13. Geez, 40% to 60% presales? I thought that 20% was the general number. Well, looks like this project will take some time to gain momentum.
  14. JTDG, Great post. Glad to hear the voice of reason.

In the late 90s, the NBA set it up this way. Before then, NBA rookies were coming into the league and demanding (and receiving) 8-10 yr guaranteed contracts that paid massive sums of money. A lot of these rookies never panned out and the teams were left paying ridiculous sums for substandard players. The NFL does not have guaranteed contracts. Therefore, we could cut Brady after a year and not pay for the entire contract like you have to do in baseball and basketball.
  16. Congrats! Any word on when they'll break ground? I've noticed that they have begun construction on the last Chi-townhomes on the first street. Are those sold yet?
  17. I don't see how "we" foolishly did anything.
  18. Is this Kroger part of a larger mixed-use development? How tall is the building that will house it? I'm assuming its a smaller store without a large parking lot.
  19. All very valid points. I very much agree that the commissioners are not going about this in the correct way. But here's where I differ regarding the sales tax: are the communities on the fringes of Cuyahoga country really hurting for retail dollars? Westlake has a huge tax surplus. How's Solon doing? How about Mayfield? If we were talking about Garfield Hts, East Cleveland or Bedford, then I'd feel differently. I'm not about to worry about the .25% increase and the effect that it will have on those outer ring suburbs.
  20. Edisou, I'm with Pope on this one. Could you explain your Chagrin Falls comments? I really don't know where you are going with this one.
  21. I agree that we need to get rid of Dimora, but I think that you're applying some cliche logic for a unique project.

Stage 2 (isn't that the name of the other strip club) isn't what I'd call upscale in the least. I've never been there, but it doesn't look fancy at all.
  23. I was thinking more along the lines of physical connectivity and distance. My guess is that it would be closer than Ohio City (the lenghth of the valley and its bridges). Is it comfortable to walk to this area from downtown? Is there much going on in the adjacent area of downtown (close to Short North?).
  24. So, is the brewery district to Columbus as Ohio City is to Cleveland?
  25. Redbeard, Are you responding to UO or someone else? If you are responding to OU, then I get the feeling that you didn't read any of our posts. No one ever mentioned that we need to ignorantly follow the words of Lord Litt. I think that comments such as "And I also guarantee if Mr. Litt were to ever be diagnosed with cancer, I don't think he'd turn down treatment there because he doesn't like the building." only serve to reduce your credibility. I'm extremely glad to hear this "Wait awhile; the site for the building has been increased a great deal, so the building is being redesigned." That is fantastic news. By the way, no one needed Litt to tell him or her that the design was absolutely horrible.
