  1. yeah, I think that the fish distributor's worries are a bit unfounded. I would venture a guess that the two establishments keep somewhat different hours.

If they do go ahead with this district, let's just hope that there is some world-class signage.
  3. memphis does that with Beale St. Its possible because Beale is now a private street (it was vacated).
  4. I'm curious to see what effect this has on W.25th and Detroit.

Looks like an unfortunate side effect of piecing together the east bank.
  6. They were working on Stark's new building on Sunday. He must really want to get in there quickly.

^the teacher's union has more negotiating power. Does it have something to do with the fact that they are employees of the Board of Education?

I'd really like to see some more info on this. Isn't there something else that would give us a better return on our money than this? Its a cool idea, but I'm not sold on it.

Come to Ohio City! (a completely biased request!) As much as there is a good amount of grit and quality restaurant options, I'm glad to say that there is a real baby boom going on in the OC. Many young couples are staying (buying their second home) in the OC and procreating! (for anyone who cares, my wife and I are expecting our second child early next year)
  11. ^Flats East Bank has already signed a national bookstore.
  12. Jetdog, Thanks for the insight.
  13. who is Murphy?
  14. what do you mean by "they aren't working"? RTA thinks the design isn't functional? Didn't they agree upon this earlier? Any link to the specific page that you are referring to?

Sometimes the plans that are presented aren't always the plans that get built. There was a smaller issue on a townhouse development across the street from my house. The brick that they put up was not the same color brick that was presented to Design Review and Landmarks. Turns out that the guy who ordered the bricks made a mistake. The bricklayers just put up the bricks that they had in front of them. Luckily, I pitched a fit to the city and the developer had to correct his error. It was a very ugly error, but it looks great now. I just wonder if there was some miscommunication somewhere that lead to Stonebridge's issue. It can happen.

Jamiec, Did you mean to post the same thing twice (except for the Puritas/Triskett switch)?
  17. Looks like excavation is set to begin on the Avenue site.
  18. I agree. It does look very ugly with the parking immediately above the retail. But, its a long cheaper that way.
  19. ^It seems to create a lot more order. It may be a pain, but it should be safer.

I've been texting my friends all over the country. Bars in NYC and Chicago going crazy for the Cavs!! My wife is working overnight at the Cleveland Clinic and reports that there is a constant intense stream of honking going on on Carnegie. And the patient wards are going crazy ( and that's not just because its the psych ward!). I absolutely love it! This is fantastic! My brother-in-law paid $1600 for 12th row center court seats with my sister. Best bargain in the city tonight!!!
  21. Ferchill's getting ready to do the 88-unit project in the Flats on the river (adjacent to Tremont).

Mitch is usually a very good writer, but he's really stretching it by calling the McDyess-Varejao play a "collision". McDyess flat out clothes-lined Varejao. That was ugly.

CROWN 'EM? Pistons' season on LeBrink June 1, 2007 BY MITCH ALBOM, FREE PRESS COLUMNIST By the end, both teams were slogging it out like two exhausted fighters on a hot summer night. The Pistons threw the ball into whoever raised an arm for it, and they watched that player back in, alone, the rest of them seeming to pray a shot would fall. On the other side, the Cleveland Cavaliers had evaporated to a one-man team. LeBron James was the only offense they had; they fed him the ball over and over and watched him go, the way a kid watches his dad dive off to work. More at www.freep.com/mitch.
