Did anyone hear Mayor Jackson's State of the City yesterday? He was a different man. A man with a vision.I've cringed each time I've heard the man speak, but yesterday was different. I used to listen to the man and think that he didn't understand half of what he was saying. But he's turned a corner. He had some of his biggest skeptics tearing up (truly). He had the sense of a man who doesn't care about the election cycle or about his potential political obstacles. His answers regarding education policy were energizing, enlightening and inspiring. And I'm someone who follows this portion of the city's agenda and is connected to it.

I wouldn't feel comfortable with losing 3 first round picks and a 2nd in order to get RG3. To get him, we'd have to beat that. What would it have been? 3 1st round picks and two 2nd round picks?
  3. It is considered Ohio City.
  4. Well, because it is a national chain that is locating in an uninspiring suburban location. Maybe you could check out www.suburbanohio.com and see what the word is on the cul-de-sac about this development.
  5. About a month ago (and I mentioned this in another thread), I heard from a building source that a large tenant was going to take up either 9 or 11 stories in this building. Good to hear some more solid info on it now.
  6. The old golf place will become a coffee shop. A large one at that--with some room for live music.

it is a good point, but Duluth is also the largest port in all the Great Lakes. They have more traffic than we do.
  8. There are pretty big physical differences between the NY example and Mayfield Rd's RR underpass that make it difficult to be as dramatic at Mayfield: height of the bridges, ownership, quality of bridges, change in topography and affected view sheds.
  9. New parking area for the Union Club? They just torn up the old parking area and rebuilt it. Nothing fun.
  10. Well, didn't Obama mandate socialism when he was elected? So that definitely makes Progressive a state agency. ;)
  11. I believe Bialosky did a lot of the design work at Crocker Park... Really a shame about Bialosky too because they are given a lot of great opportunities.
  12. Nothing is set. It's just what I've picked up from conversations with people closer to the situation.
  13. I wonder if Lot 45 will hurt Uptown's phase 2. Maron has to act on options to buy the land by sometime in 2012. And i keep hearing that the rents still don't seem high enough to merit new construction for the heights called for in Uptown's second phase.
  14. Would these employers be from the suburbs?
  15. I don't recall an article on a relocation where the CEO was able to stand on a soap box and preach in a way where he was not challenged in the least bit. Pretty pathetic.
  16. Ok, that makes more sense. Have they already started any presales on 73rd?
  17. I took a look over the weekend. It appeared that portions of the first floor (cinderblock construction) were rising up out of the ground. I was driving by with some vociferous kids in the back, so I tried my best to put together a mental memory of the progress.
  18. Where the Holiday Express is currently located? I thought we heard that someone said the Holiday Inn Express was shutting down. In a way, that makes some of the new hotel projects easier to finance and injects increased residential life on lower Euclid Ave. Sounds great to me.
  19. Because E. 6th would not be a "signature" street like E.4th, it would benefit from the types of first floor retail that could survive at lower rents. Coffee shops and other sorts of service retail. This is one of my favorite streets in Cleveland. I just wish the 5/3 garage was not there.
  20. I get confused as well. I thought that Rosetta had taken up a lot of the floors in the Garfield building. Does Baker Building have any frontage on Superior Ave?
  21. Where are these two buildings?
  22. I noticed that as well. I don't know if this would be the beginning of the renovation or just a stage in the environmental clean up that must take place before the overall project can qualify for financing.
  23. Each year there are always a couple of dates where you see a spike. Then three weeks go by and you see nothing. Not that deaths should be taken lightly, but there are also outlying situations like these that stand out. Things even out over the year. Each year, Cleveland homicide years keep trending down.
  24. You're temporarily living there? Is work putting you up?
  25. Jennifer is on the Landmarks commission and they played no part in this decision. Tony Coyne is star of the day.
