  1. By the way, what did you hear about the Little Italy redline station?
  2. Guv, What if the adjacent influences are negative? Having worked adjacent to Hessler, I've come to feel that its residents view Hessler as the center of the UC universe and that all surrounding parcels should serve their needs and not those of others. Maybe they are reacting to the days of old when UCI and its member institutions made many poor decisions. They've made many demands over the years that obvioulsy put their interests above the interests of the greater good. While they are entitled to their opinion, I don't think that it should be considered to be the majority voice of University Circle's workers, residents and students. Did they say something that made sense?
  3. The relocator did state that she wasn't up for the 1920s style apartments. That sort of nixes Shaker Square.
  4. your medical degree isn't serving you well?

Cleveland and its suburbs have a good number of top-ranked library systems for their respective city sizes.
  6. "Pickle Williams" --I love the name! btw, Are you in the capstone??
  7. Thanks for the update.
  8. I've heard that the Cleveland Jewish Federation is mulling a move to the eastern burbs (sucks). If they would move, I'd love to see the architecture school rebuild on that site. We need a good anchor in that area that better hugs the street. Also, its nicely located across from Levin.
  9. I'm pretty sure that architecture students are pretty much still in Kent. I hope that they don't locate in University Circle. While it may be a good way to impress prospective students, it won't have as much of an impact in this area. It would make a much greater impact if located downtown. I'd love to see them build on that surface lot on Prospect (across the street from Winking Lizard and BoneYard).
  10. Kent names head of design group; will move entire master's program to Cleveland Posted by Steven Litt March 08, 2007 09:20AM Christopher DiehlSteven Litt Plain Dealer Architecture Critic Kent State University is unleashing a one-two punch to liven up Cleveland's architectural community and to make a greater commitment to the city. Steven Fong, dean of KSU's College of Architecture and Environmental Design, announced Wednesday he has appointed Christopher Diehl, a rising star in the city's design scene, to be director of Kent State's Urban Design Collaborative...
  11. ^I always heard that Corbo's owns those storefronts (or maybe its the Dolce Vita guy). Anyways, I had heard that they are unnecessarily kept vacant. I also wonder about City Living's assessment of Little Italy's safety. I lived in the area in 2005-2006 and felt super safe there at night.
  12. The old building at 30th was purchased by a developer with plans to convert it to housing.

Maybe some of the potential Progressive hires didn't like the fact that it was located out in suburbia?? I know of one person (very anecdotal) who was being recruited by a Solon firm. She was living in San Francisco. She didn't take the job because the firm wasn't in downtown.

    RIP Cleveland Quarries
  15. I like the shamrock shakes at McDonalds.
  16. ^i was asking for it :)
  17. Would you have preferred if i were C-3PO? How about R2-D2? Wimwar is dead. That name no longer means anything to me.
  18. Carpet is not always a bad thing. Usually it is, but not always. Carpet adds just the right amount of coziness to my third floor (although I'd like to replace it with a berber style when I can justify spending the money). I love the West Virginia building. What a great building for that location. Anyone hear anything about the old West Side Community House? I thought that it had gone to city planning for conceptual approval a while back.
  19. the actual thread. take that wim. Pope, Just as Louise Veronica Ciccone is now Madonna, Wimwar is now 3231!
  20. I also live near the Detroit Lofts, but I think I have a less rough view of the area. My wife walks alone with our 18-month old son through this area all the time and never has any problems. With half-million dollar townhomes selling out just two blocks away, I'd say that there are many other people who share this feeling.
  21. I have a study with a sample size of 3. My sister, sister-in-law and cousin now use it instead of flying to Chicago.
  22. Any one catch the name of the town where Our Lady of Mount Carmel is located?? ;)
  23. Does anyone know if Stonebridge still has some rentals available or has it all gone condo? She might like something there. If you are going to only have one car and will be working/studying in two different areas, I'd suggest Little Italy, Cleveland Heights, Ohio City or downtown. If you also want modern, then I'd say that Ohio City will probably have the best options for you. http://www.fkmb.com/ http://www.merrelllofts.com/ http://www.clv-lofts.com/metzner_building.html
  24. Pope, If you were as big of a nerd as some of us, you'd know that all of this stuff is easily located on the city planning department's webpage (floorplans and all). You'd also find out that the new Serbian cultural garden is up for approval..as well as a National City Bank sign on West 25th.. http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/landmark/agenda/photo/030807/index.htm
  25. If you look at the Cleveland Heights website, the city says that it has over 5000 apartments. I believe it. If you are looking for loft space though, Cleveland Heights doesn't have anything like the Metro Lofts. But they do have 1000s of 1920s era apartments in walkable neighborhoods. You'd have to look in Ohio City, Chinatown (St. Clair Superior) or in downtown to find true urban loft space. If you want a direct redline ride to CWRU, West 25th in Ohio City is a great place to look for some nice apartments.
