Cleveland: Flats East Bank
If and when the ED hearings come out in favor of Wolstein, I've heard that they need to do extensive sewer work ( up to a year??) before they can do any construction in the area.

Cleveland Area TOD Discussion
I like where your head is at, but I would rather see a series of four story apartment buildings that close to the Rapid, with first floor retail/restaurant/mixed-use. The garage, I think, is a bit in the wrong direction. Not only is it expensive to build garages, but it propagates the idea that rail transit should be park-and-ride. You would get much higher ridership by building densely within a 1/2 mile radius of the station. Furthermore, if a new neighborhood were developed on the Triskett lot, and the garage were built, you would see a lot of people driving into the neighborhood and parking in the garage, versus taking transit. Part of making transit work is making the other options more difficult. I think that you need to take into account the neighborhood and the types of people that it attracts. This area is not a place that will attract loft seekers and empty nesters. Also, a lot of people use this as a park and ride lot--that's why it should include a garage. Why kill off a large majority of your ridership base by giving them nowhere to park? They'll look for a place to park downtown instead.

I wonder if it is permitted to build a parking garage underneath an elevated intersate. I'm thinking about the Triskett rapid station. If you could move all the surface parking into structured space below I-90, that would open up a lot of space to building some dense single family homes that could become an extension of the neighborhood to the immediate west. West Park, Cleveland's solid middle class nabe, could definitley absorb some new housing.

Cleveland / Lakewood: The Edge Developments
Sounds like we need a "Friends of Edgewater Park" group. There has to be a core group of people who live within walking distance of that park that would organize to improve the area. With thousands of residents soon to be connected directly into the park because of the shoreway renovation, I can only see an increased interest in keeping the park clean and user-friendly. Tak away a few ribbons of concrete and you'll see a huge difference in the psychological connection to this park by the surrounding residents.

Or should we crucify him for living in one of the most sprawled-out and non-pedestrian friendly cities in the country?

Belated 2006 Unofficial Forumer of the Year - Nominations
Also, if you are going to do this, I think it would be better to create categories for each city or region. I really don't know a thing about anyone who posts mainly on the Columbus or Cincy threads

i don't think that you'll get too many votes this way. a lot of people only check the "Show unread posts since last visit" and that would keep them from being reminded to vote.

East Coasters with Kiddo Moving to Cleveland
The Cedar-Fairmount area of Cleveland Hts could also be an option (if you don't mind a 10 minute walk to the rapid station. I still think Shaker Square is the right fit, though.

East Coasters with Kiddo Moving to Cleveland
I was under the impression that the high fees are due to the assessments that were necessary to bring the Moreland Courts building up to modern standards. Still, i would absolutely love to see a pre-WWII era condo that is 4500 sq ft. That must be amazing.

East Coasters with Kiddo Moving to Cleveland
I'm not sure exactly. I thought I remember it being anywhere between $500 to $900 a month. I believe this is only for MTS' condo building and doesn't reflect the rest of Shaker Square.

Cleveland: Case Western Reserve University News & Info
This sounds like a good solution untill all the WRU grads have died off. If Hundert was still around, he'd probably think that I was suggesting that they be killed off so as to more easily implement his idea.

MTS, Aren't the monthly condo fees pretty high for the 79k building due to the retro-fitting?
