CLE: jump rope performance art
if you can take a look at the print edition of the PD, there is a very cool photo of this troupe. Double the fun Enthusiastic group playfully merges performance art and jump-roping Thursday, February 15, 2007 Fran Henry Plain Dealer Reporter It was a sweet scene, just what the twentysomething crowd expected -- DJs amping esoteric music mixes from a murky stage, bass notes pounding insistently through the floorboards. Two, three hours passed, as they nodded rhythmically to the music, waiting for the Grog Shop's main act. But isn't life about expecting the unexpected? Just after midnight, a rainbow-colored plastic rope was arranged onstage. A few minutes later, the stage lights brightened, and artist Zachariah Durr began a theatrical introduction of --who knew? "They came from outer space," he said. The crowd cheered and whooped, nearly drowning out Durr, who'd climbed on a riser to be better seen and heard... www.cleveland.com

We'd all like to see that. And, I wish that Key had bought out Bank of America instead of Ameritrust (just dreamin').

There is a lot of life during the lunch hours. Those are all office buildings. If they were mixed-use, you'd see a lot of life after the work day is through.

Cleveland: Cleveland School of the Arts
New building proposed for School of the Arts Wednesday, February 14, 2007 Joseph L. Wagner and Angela Townsend Plain Dealer Reporters It's a big dream - a brand-new Cleveland School of the Arts building that would open in fall 2010. Friends of the Cleveland School of the Arts, a nonprofit group that raises money and provides other resources to the school, is working with Cleveland district officials on preliminary plans to make that dream a reality. Plans and cost estimates are in the early stages and could change, said Daniel Burns, the district's chief operating officer. The existing school, in the University Circle neighborhood, houses grades six through 12 and academically is among the highest rated in the district. Students must audition to be admitted, and major in music, dance, theater, and literary and visual arts... more at: http://www.cleveland.com

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
^I emailed them last week and they never got back to me. Over the past few weeks, they've cut down some large limbs that were hanging over the site and they also marked out the gas lines last week. Still, Rysar's behavior is odd. I'm still not completely sold on whether they'll build it or not.

They are not anywhere close to renderings. Word is that they'd like to ask the Clinic to donate its property at the corner of Stearns/Carnegie so that they could build out to the corner and make a good architectural statement to all those Carnegie commuters.

MTS, It would be much more expensive to renovate it than to build anew. Also, they want to add k-8.

MTS, I've been on the inside. Guv, There are old maps that refer to the building as something like the 'cleveland teachers training school'.

it appears that the Clinton Courts has broken ground. I'm not completely sure, though. There is a large backhoe on site and large pile of dirt. I'm not sure if the dirt is due to some excavating or if it was dumped there (hard to see because of the snow). Anyways, I hope this project it on its way. By the way, this is a 5 townhouse development on Clinton Ave near the corner of W.38th.
