  1. I didn't know any architecture firms that would actually release such an infantile-looking graphic. It looks like it was made with some early 1990s-era graphic design software.
  2. There are at least 10 "sprawly ones" for every nice urban city in this country.
  3. What makes you think this is going up? The water tower support on top of the Fries & Schuele building has always been there. Some additional money would have needed to be raised for this project to go forward. There are a lot of steps that would have needed to be taken (and it would have been known to us) before this could become reality.
  4. OSU has also offered James Byrne (OT - St. Ignatius). Byrne's only a sophomore, so it sounds like there is some upper echelon sophomore talent in the Cleveland area.
  5. The Truman has had some minor activity for the past couple of months. There is always a dumpster out in front of the building and it gets filled and hauled away, and replaced, etc. Lights are on in the building. It has the feel as if there are 3 guys working there. Not much activity, but it is activity.
  6. Maybe in the old Target location on Center Ridge?
  7. The boarded up portion of the facade on the first floor is the entry way for DwellWorks. There is nothing set for the large remaining vacant first floor space. But with the momentum that PHS currently has, I wouldn't be surprised to see that space fill up soon. I just hope its something unique and not food/drink-oriented.
  8. We got scolded by our grandma if we said the term "Birdtown". It was not a positive term a few decades ago for the Slovaks who had grown up in the neighborhood.
  9. The source could be wrong. I thought that was a huge amount as well. He did also say that each floor was 60,000 sf. Maybe the county is farther along than we thought. If they consolidate a lot of their disparate offices, it would add up.
  10. I heard from a pretty solid source that someone is going to take up 11 floors of the former Huntington Building. I have no idea who this could be. It's too soon for the county to make a decision. It could be CMSD as I know that they already whittled down their prospective new location. This is all I know.
  11. I agree with you partially, but your wording tends to suggest that "doing what you think is best for your family = living in the burbs." You'd be very surprised to see how many young middle class to upper middle class families are choosing to stay in the inner city.
  12. No grass. Built up to the street. Retail on the first floor. The project wouldn't break ground for another 2 years, so the exterior appearances could change greatly. I'd take more cues from the PSH building next to Metro Hospital that has the restaurant on the first floor.
  13. The rendering is not too accurate. It would be more in line with what we would consider to be appropriate for Lorain ave. It would also have retail on the first floor.
  14. Help Help please! Well, I normally wouldn't do my research this way but I'm having difficulty with finding some info for project at work. I need to find some cities that have thriving residential (or commercial) districts that abut either a working waterfront port or some other type of industrial area or rail yard.

There are some nice pictures of the trellis on LAND studio's facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.281482228568698.79203.239289976121257&type=1
  16. I think Rick Maron (dad) lives in the penthouse. I'm pretty sure that Ari lives in one of the apartments on E.4th.
  17. I would suspect that they would do it pretty soon. If I remember correctly, the finalists may be tinkering their proposals. Not exactly sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if we heard something in the first quarter of this year.
  18. FYI The image above is just a concept for Lot 45. UCI already has its hands on several developer proposals and it's pretty safe to safe that the building heights and arrangement on site will differ from what is shown.
  19. The same guy has owned it for years. He also hadn't paid rent on it for at least 2 years years and PHS let him stay because it was an amenity for the office tenants. The food has been average at best for at least the past 5 years. It was not well-regarded by the tenants.
  20. Rumor has it that a small grocer is going into the old Hanna Deli space.
  21. ^a while ago, a plan went to Landmarks for two new townhouses to be built on that land. One would face the street and the other would be in the back. They would be connected in the middle. It was a very unique design and solution to the site.
  22. Another new retail location will be opening up soon in the Market District. Ohio City Cigars, at the corner of 28th & Lorain, will be taking both floors of the old Zen Salon space (now Zen Metro Spa on w.25th). You can see the temporary sign below:

If I remember correctly.. -the red area is owned by UH and was slated for an expansion of the adjacent parking garage. -originally, UCI thought that the hotel would want an entrance onto Euclid and therefore the charter one/starbucks was to be taken out. None of the RFP finalists wanted to extend the hotel onto Euclid and therefore this concept was taken out of the plan.

Couple of thoughts on the Cavs so far this year: -we've played a very weak schedule -this will be a very grueling schedule. Our next 7 games are all on the road and played within 13 days--and includes a West Coast swing. -I'd advocate that Scott let's the youngsters forfeit a game, sleep in, and take them to a video arcade at the closest mall. -i like that Scott is spreading the minutes around. He's looking to the future. -Irving, having only played 9-10 games last year, is looking like a potential star -we still have a very good owner -it will be interesting to see what we do with $18 mil worth of cap space at the end of the year Last year was a sad year for all the obvious reasons. This year feels different because the future looks brighter. We knew we were going to be horrible last year, but because of the uncertainty of the lottery system it was impossible to know what draft picks we might get. The first positive thing that happened was when we traded for the Clippers 1st round pick. After that, I felt much better about our future given that we had two lottery picks. Hats off to Gilbert for taking on a lot of salary in order to buy a chance at the future--and it paid off hugely. Then we blew out Miami. Then Gilbert's son picked a rabbit out of his hat and made CLE proud by doing it in style. -

If you don't mind me asking, where are you living right now?
