I'm curious as to the land values in that area. The parking is not that expensive. I park in a $2 a day lot that I believe is one of the optioned parcels.
  3. Now starring at the Hanna Building: Short-term, low-cost tech space Downtown Cleveland’s Hanna Building, a fusion of theater and office space on Euclid Avenue, is going geek. Officials of the Playhouse Square Foundation, which owns the 16-story Hanna, are working with city leaders to attract technology-focused startups and boost an 80 percent occupancy rate. (Link: Playhouse site) The project is being marketed as the Hanna Tech Hotel. Tom Einhouse of PSF Management Company LLC, the nonprofit’s real estate arm, said the concept builds on a push to fill the foundation’s nearby Idea Center and other Theater District properties with high-tech tenants. But Hanna Tech Hotel, as its name implies, will come with a few twists. “We realized that not every tenant is going to be interested in signing a five- to seven-year lease,” Einhouse said. “There are a lot of startup firms that would love to go month-to-month.” PSF plans to offer “pre-packaged” office space at monthly rates between $1.25 and $1.50 a square foot. Available space likely will range in size from 500 square feet to 1,500 square feet, said Cleveland technology czar Michael DeAloia, who has encouraged several tech firms to the Theater District. Leases will include furnishings, utilities and broadband phone and Internet. Einhouse and DeAloia both said they are in talks with several prospects, but no deals yet. “This is top-of-the-line space with all of the amenities,” DeAloia said. “If you’re a suburban company that wants to find out how downtown really operates, this is a way to do it.”
  4. I agree with Map Boy's previous comment about the colors on the new lofts. They really look great. I am not a fan of the some detached homes, but the lofts look really nice. I hope that they weather well.
  5. I'm sure that this will make the Avenue District's retail an easier sell.

A few PMs led to the name changes. 3231 is the address of my childhood home. --I'm not about to spend more than a couple of minutes thinking up a new name.

I remember hearing about this last year. They never mentioned that they would be building boats. Very cool.

^i love that name-- "mr the man"
  9. ^you'll never have a survey of that states what the best buildings are. Architects, while obviously the most knowledgeable, seem to be one step too close to the topic to have any real perspective on the effects of a building on the city as a whole.
  10. The 50s, 60s and 70s also ruined the credibility of architects!

There are actually natural ways to clean contaminated soil out. An easy way is to plant sunflowers....3-4 rotations of a sunflower crop usually cleans out the soil from most contaminants. That is the FYI for the day! :speech: Great info. Will that remove any lead from the soil?
  12. I cringe whenever they make that statement.
  13. yeah, i agree that the name choice is very poor.
  14. The MK Ferguson Plaza. Its the old post office building on Prospect next to the black state office building.
  15. Then there are buildings that are great because of those who inhabit them, not for the actual structure. Some may disagree, but I don't see Yankee Stadium as a great piece of architecture. Sure its interesting, but its not great. It may be the best place to place baseball, but that's because of the Yankees, their history and the fans.
  16. Dan, don't tease us. 600 total would be fantastic.
  17. Sky, The original map does include the One Cleveland Center location as a 'future development site'.
  18. Looking through the top 150, there are some very suspect buildings. It takes the luster off of being mentioned in the list. Cincy's two buildings are very deserving, though.
  19. I like PBS a lot. Definitely a nice stadium to look at as you drive by. Of course this is all very subjective, but the list is so heavily tilted towards the big cities. It overlooks a lot of the beautiful old buildings in the midsize cities.
  20. I wonder if this is old news. When did they buy his option? From the tone of the article, its sounds like it was secured recently.
  21. I don't, but I'd bet that Progressive Urban would be your best bet. Well, actually I guess you're looking for non residential properties. Nope, can't help ya.
  22. I like this idea a lot. If they built on this corner, it would create a better urban feel to the project. As is, the Avenue District feels a bit spread out. It lacks that cozy urban feel that creates great neighhorhoods. This would also better link the project into the E9th corridor and draw more workday crowds into the District.
  23. Some more encouraging news.. Avenue District may grow 11:30 a.m. Developer Nathan Zaremba’s $250 million Avenue District project, which calls for more than 400 for-sale condos and townhomes along downtown Cleveland’s northeastern edge, could be larger than originally planned. (Link: Avenue District site) Zaremba Inc. has obtained an option on 1.4 acres of land at the southwest corner of St. Clair Avenue and East 12th Street and is considering adding another building with 100 units. 24. Have you ever seen this sculpture? I'm working on a project where this artist will do something similar in a Cleveland neighborhood. (Oh, Pittsburgh is so cool. I've always been impressed with its architecture and landscape)
  25. oh, kids these days and their funky terms.
