I'm not sure if people completely understand this. Its not going to be for your normal consumers.

Ned Hill is a very smart man. He's a tremendous asset for Cleveland.
  3. I haven't heard much about it (the downtown portion) in a long time. I don't think that there is any active push to turn it into a blvd.
  4. pretentiousness??? its the greatest fence in the world! Pope, why do you hate Cleveland?

take a look at the design review page on the city planning commission's website. by the way, i copied every single word that referred to Stonebridge. that's all it says.

So, they are amending their plan. KJP, do you know anything about this?? from the city planning website: PUD Plan Amendment: Stonebridge Towers, 2222 Detroit Avenue, garage plan
  7. it wouldn't be lined with high rises for a good long time. I am surprised at the backlash. This project will do wonders for Ohio City and Detroit Shoreway. I understand why some Clifton and Lakewood folk would be against it. But why let some NIMBYs get in the way of a project that will help bring investment into the city and improve neighborhoods?? It can be frustrating when the minority who are inconvenienced in a minor way try to stop a project that is a huge plus for the majority.
  8. Looks like they are getting ready to start on the gateway townhomes as well as the old powerhouse for the 2/1 design review: DRC 04-246: West 73 rd Street, Battery Park, Gateway Townhomes & Father Frasceti Avenue, Powerhouse Community Building (Housing/Ward 17) [Applic. Date: 1/23/07]
  9. you were hoping for more of my grand words of wisdom?
  10. And it keeps on coming with the Clinic... They are going to present the 'Grand Allee" to the city on Thursday. For those who aren't familiar, this is the grand boulevard the will lead into the new heart center from Chester. To make room for this, they have already removed the BP station. The drug store (CVS or Rite Aid) will also be moved as well as another building. Should be interesting.. DRC 07-005 : East 93 rd Street between Chester and Euclid Avenues, Cleveland Clinic, East 93 rd Street/“Grand Allee” and Adjacent Area Landscape Plan (CCF/Ward 6) [Applic. Date: 1/23/07]
  11. its not construction related, but its interesting. Clinic to offer teleconsultations Related Links Cleveland Clinic By SHANNON MORTLAND 11:59 am, January 29, 2007 Seeing a doctor no longer requires sitting in the same room with him or her. The Cleveland Clinic soon will launch Virtual Visit, a new service in which it can use interactive, live video technology to provide real-time examinations for patients anywhere in the world. As part of the service, the patient would visit a Cleveland Clinic Virtual Visit services center where the hospital system would keep the necessary technology. A Clinic doctor then would be able to view a number of video screens that display the patient’s medical information while interacting with the patient through live video feeds. The doctor can use a remote control to change camera angles to see different parts of the patient’s body, such as the ears, nose and throat. “Many patients want to seek expert medical advice from Cleveland Clinic, particularly when it comes to life-threatening and life-altering conditions, however the distance and physical travel involved is often a significant obstacle to them,” said Dr. C. Martin Harris, the Clinic’s chief information officer. “Our interactive teleconsultation service allows patients and doctors to communicate anytime, anywhere.” The Clinic is demonstrating the new technology this week at Arab Health, a medical industry trade show held from Jan. 29 to Jan. 31 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Clinic has not yet determined a launch date for the service and continues to work out the details about where the service centers would be located, a Clinic spokeswoman said.
  12. I saw that on Saturday and quickly sent an email to the reporters that the redline is your best option for avoiding traffic. I also chastised them for helping to feed the idea that there is no alternative to the automobile.
  13. Musky, Thanks for the update. Great to hear that they will start soon. Will the student center demo start this summer? How will the interlink be moved in the law building?
  14. Some demolition is very good. Some demolition is very bad. I don't think that the city necessarily sees a difference between the two.
  15. Are we still talking about the world class fence? ;)
  16. I've seen the circles on renderings, but don't have access to them. I don't know about the pre-emption. Aren't the busses supposed to have pre-emption at lights all along Euclid?
  17. I think that Baltimore will win, but I'm rooting for the Bears.
  18. ^yes. I thought someone had posted it at some point. I'm sure that its just a conceptual drawing, but they show it as built up to the sidewalk.

^I heard that a bunch of Browns players had tried out but they didn't make the final cut.
  20. Thanks for the website. I just drove by it as well.
  21. Tough question: Here are my thoughts: -it has these massive floors (Euclid to Prospect) with very little access to daylight; i would think that this would reduce the rent that you could collect for a employee-intensive operation. -residential would only be appropriate where it fronts Euclid and Prospect. you could cut out an atrium in the middle, but i don't think that would make enough of a difference. -it still would make a nice place for a large deparment store, but the surrounding uses are complementary enough where this location would attract enough of a critical mass of shoppers to make the building successful. maybe i'm wrong. -something different and unique that i don't know about
  22. I think that the May Co. sale is very interesting. With Key slated to vacate four floors in that building (i believe that one forumer said that would happen), a new buyer would have to have some viable plans in mind before buying this building.
  23. ^Very interesting. I wonder if this could be the big news that KJP has been talking about?
  24. ^that's great news. I love tapas!
