  1. That entire area near Papa Johns is odd. The airport, UPS, football stadium, old baseball stadium, etc. In some respects, Louisville really missed some opportunities.
  2. City readies Special Olympics sales pitch Thursday, November 30, 2006 Susan Vinella Plain Dealer Reporter Let the sales pitch begin. Article Removed
  3. ^sorry, but the rankings do take into account how much people do use the libraries.

Let's hope that this is the last building that they do like this. There is enough density to support retail. Future buildings have to some sort of first floor presence or else the pedestrian experience is going to feel dead.
  5. Where did you hear the information?
  6. ^Naw, there is a difference. Highland Park is worse. Cleveland has its decay. Detroit's decay is Cleveland's on steriods. Highland Park is Hough on steriods.
  7. Besides the obvious, here is one thing that I really like about the new bowling alley: As you walk along Euclid Avenue, you can see people bowling and pins flying. I've never seen a bowling alley where you can look inside the building and watch people bowl. Great idea. This will help draw in more business, increase the sense of life on the street and act as a form of performance public art. Kudos to Maron!
  8. My in-law cousins took it into Cleveland. No complaints.
  9. The current president has a much different mindset than past regimes. President Schwartz actually just got a masters in urban planning a couple of years ago. CSU will has a long way to go, but a lot has happened in just the past few years.

    nasty
  11. MGD, This is different from any other development in the immediate area. If all the developments go forward and sell reasonably well, the Franklin to Detroit corridor between West 28th and 45th will be one happening place. Being a homeowner in this area, I sure hope sales are brisk.
  12. There is a Clinton-Franklin block club meeting tomorrow that will discuss this new development. I didn't go to the last meeting, but the developer had presented an amended design that allowed views of the Lake from Clinton. I will report back.
  13. Maybe Stark can pick them up in the WHD.
  14. ^I worked a half mile from Highland Park and coordinated some projects in the area. I know it about as well as I know Hough. I also 'knew' HP before getting to know Hough. Still, they are both sad places with interesting histories.
  15. Can't wait for the lady to take her top off!
  16. Cimperman is on the Planning Commission, but not on the Design review. That's probably why he said that. I may be repeating something that you already know, but the the CPC pretty much accepts whatever the DR board recommends. Not always, though. If you present to DR on Thursday and they like it, you usually go on to CPC on Friday (correct me where I'm wrong).
  17. ^it looks like they slapped some gray paint on the existing structure, that's all.
  18. CDM, I pretty much agree with you save for one thing--Highland Park is on another level when compared to Hough.
  19. I am pretty amazed at Louisville's rise in the DI ranks. I thought that they'd go downhill after JLSmith left. They only got better and MSU only got worse!
  20. I love UrbanKentucky.com!
  21. Does the NKU president own a cement company?
  22. 2500sq ft is huge for a condo. But I do think that developers have been missing out on that portion of the market. Thanks for the info, Blinker.
