Cleveland: University Circle: Uptown (UARD)
I heard some potentially bad news regarding the Triangle. Russell Berush, the CWRU lead on the project, has resigned. I don't know anything else about the situation.

Cleveland Area TOD Discussion
I believe that the station will be moved so that its halfway between 120th and Mayfield. I think that both streets will have a headhouse (correct term?).

Cleveland Area TOD Discussion
This is stuff the Urban Design Associates did for UCI last year. I thought that RFPs were due into RTA a little bit ago for the Cedar Hill Rapid Station (wait, I think it was for the Mayfield/120th station). Hope to see some architectural renderings soon for that one.

From the sound of it, Ufer remains a Wolverine legend By Gene Wojciechowski ESPN.com So I walked into the boss's office the other day and there he was, this giant of the dot-com industry ... this man who, with a raised eyebrow, can begin or end careers on a whim -- and he was giggling like he'd just cashed a $25 scratch-and-win. "You've got to hear these,'' he said excitedly, an open CD case on his 16th century Italian marble desk. "It's Bob Ufer!'' he said. And then he launched into a five-minute lecture about the guy, which was great, except for the fact that I'd never heard of him. Ufer? I thought a Ufer was a WWII German submarine, a scrubbing sponge for your back, or the baseball opposite of an 0-fer. I let my mind find a happy place as the boss droned on and on about Ufer this, Ufer that. I felt like George Costanza during a Steinbrenner rant. I was there, but not there. And then I was pooch-punted back into reality. "So I think this would make a really good column,'' I heard him say. "But I don't want you to think I'm telling you what to write.'' Wait, I'm sorry -- what did he just say? A column? On a Ufer? "I can't wait,'' I heard myself say. "I'll get right on it.'' So I became close, personal friends with Bob Ufer, who, by the way, has been dead for 25 years. And you know what? The boss was right: You've got to hear this guy. For 363 consecutive games, from 1945 to 1981, Ufer was the radio voice of University of Michigan football. He played in the same freshman backfield as Heisman winner-to-be Tom Harmon, switched a year later to track and field, became an All-America and world-class runner, started an insurance agency and, as I recently discovered, was as Michigan as the maize helmet wings. More at www.espn.com Ufer's memory lives on with ring tones, bobbleheads and a scholarship in his name at www.ufer.org.

Louisville, KY: Museum Plaza
Public Plaza on the 23rd floor?? Who had that bright idea? Plazas do well because people stroll through them on their way to another place or stop there to sit because its easy and convenient. Necro, I've never seen anyone on this forum who is so fanatical about one (and only one) project. Are you the developer?

Your Favorite current O-H-I-O musicians
Well, Nashville has been ripping off Memphis since the 1930s. It's one of the few thing they know how to do there in Nashville. How is it a rip-off museum? My in-laws often suggest it as a place to go when we're in Nashville. I have never really been that interested (Johnny Cash is the only thing about country that I find interesting). Nashville thinks that Memphis is one step up from Haiti.

that's right, lets blame warren! Blame Maurice. That guy threw away a lot of talent. I'm glad that OSU cut ties with the guy before his sophomore season got underway. He's become so whacked out that he's becoming a fictional character in my mind.

Evergrey, OSU is in the middle of the pack with graduation rates. If you want to see bad graduation rates, Texas, is the culprit (40% grad rate--how embarrassing!). And, how do you blame OSU for all that Clarrett has done? OSU gets an unnecessary bad rap for Maurice.

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
I heard this from the landlord yesterday.. Lebron James will be leasing 15,000sq ft in downtown for his businesses operations. I don't know the name of the building, but its the 5-story building in Playhouse Square on Star Plaza. Currently, an office furniture store is located on the first floor. All the King's men (and women) will be occupying the entire third floor.

Ohio Smoking Ban
^a lot of people are starting to throw around the smoking ban language as if all bans are the same. I just always assumed that you couldn't smoke in factories. Seems like a dumb idea in many ways.

Kellen Winslow had an awesome catch. The defense played very well. The offense, well, is not that good.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Beacon
^I've heard that the Hanna Building is not going to put its first floor vacancies on the market until the Silverline is up and running.

Cleveland: University Circle: Cleveland Clinic Developments
Its not housing that I'm really concerned about. With Upper Chester, Woodhaven and University Circle, there is a good number of housing that will come onto the market. I'd like to see the existing and future retail be reconfigured into storefront-style structures the line the northern side of Euclid.

Ohio Smoking Ban
I disagree. I think that most people hate being in spaces where someone's cigarette pollutes everyone else's environment. Its very unpleasant. Plain and simple.

Ohio Smoking Ban
Sure, I'll add one more thing. There is no statistically significant link between second-hand smoke and lung cancer. Most of the info people like to quote on this comes from a single 1992 study done by the American Cancer Society which has been widely debunked since then. In fact, in 1998 the WHO released a report stating this very thing. Is this sarcasm?

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
I would doubt that they are new. Most law firms are downtown. The best case scenario is that they are moving into larger spaces.
