Lakewood: Development and News
Its also the densest city between Chicago and NYC.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Clevelanders will not be the users of this convention center. It will only be successful if if caters to the out of towner. If we build it at TC, we will get a lot more conventions into Cleveland. --and that's the entire point. Additionally, I don't want TC to expand. Who needs more retail in our basement? We can't try to make the cc fit the needs of Clevelanders. If we do that, it will fail.

Cleveland: Cleveland State University News & Info
Interesting news: I am glad that CSU will offer some non-profit management courses. While Case has a great program, I don't think that its very practical for working professionals. Cleveland, with its strong roster of non-profits, would really benefit from such courses. Also, I am curious about the English language standards. Is CSU losing out on a good number of foreign students due to the current requirements? Many foreign students live on or near campus. I can see how this alteration could lead to greater enrollment numbers and greater on campus numbers.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Anyways... I agree with Musky's idea about TC and the current CC. As a condition to putting a cc at TC, I would build a land bridge over the tracks at Mall C. The only reason why I would be disappointed with a cc at TC is that the current center would be empty and we'd lose an opportunity to bridge the gap the to lakefront. Business-wise, I think a TC cc makes the most sense by far. Couple the transit, hotels, shopping, medical mart, casino and the Q--find me a better convention center than that in the country (ok, i really haven't done any research myself). I think Cleveland would blow away the other cities that we normally compete with.

Cleveland's lakefront plan: How the big projects are progressing
The Howard Johnson is such an eyesore. I am glad that it will be fixed up, but I don't see it having much spin-off effect. I'd rather see this type of development closer in to town.

New to Cleveland
My in-laws are from the south (and my wife). When we moved to Cleveland, they seriously asked us if snow shoes and snow tires would make good Christmas gifts.

Lakewood: Development and News
I don't think so. Lakewood is very nice, but it just doesn't offer the amenities that downtown does. Rockport Square has been a very slow seller--an indication that Lakewood does not attract those who want an urban lifestyle.

Pope, Is there a version of UrbanOhio for Detroit?

I love Sufjan! Peter, You are either a solution to the problem or are part of the problem. Leave your suburban roots and join the glorious revolution! ;) But seriously though, you will be judged at the pearly gates based on your domicile.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Avenue District
god and detroit sells 45 luxury units in one day? Does that speak for all of the downtown market? If that's a trend, then Detroit will be NYC before too long.

Cleveland: Detroit-Superior Lofts
yep. You can see it resting against a wall in the storefront at W.26th and Detroit.

Cleveland: Detroit-Superior Lofts
I've been noticing each morning that contractor-looking people are going in and out of the building. I don't see any permit posted, but the guys are definitely hauling in materials. And, I'd really like to steal that Sohio sign that they have in the front window.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Avenue District
I noticed that they've sold 3 more units since late September. They are up to 27 pre-sold lofts.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
^I've heard polls that go both ways. It just seems like such a long shot with our state's history with casino votes.

Cleveland: Bob Stark Warehouse District Project
If they can't get a convention center or casino. I wouldn't be surprised if FCE started talking condos. Of course, it would only be talk.

I am sure that they've got a plan B that they would announce after the election when the gambling issue fails.

^Stark wanted to knock down all this stuff in UC. From what I heard, he was way off base.
