  1. Cincinnati plans riverfront project Thursday, September 21, 2006 Associated Press Cincinnati - Finally, maybe, something other than parking lots will fill the four-block gap between Paul Brown Stadium and Great American Ball Park. A selection committee has chosen an Atlanta-based developer to take charge of bringing restaurants, condos, shops, offices and entertainment to the riverfront area known as the Banks. A link to the full story text is unavailable, but was developed by http://www.ap.org/
  2. Sounds like a classic clvlndr post! ;)
  3. Maybe that means they're going to be tall then. tall buildings next to parking lots don't make for a quaint neighborhood
  4. There is a graphic in the paper. I admit, the footprint for the future phases is not as big as I thought it would be.
  5. KJP for ODOT director!
  6. Stonebridge developers planning 1,200 new homes in Flats Wednesday, September 20, 2006 12:08 p.m. Tomorrow afternoon, at a ribbon-cutting for their next building, developers Doug Price and Bob Corna will announce plans for 1,200 new homes and an additional 650,000 square feet of office and retail space on the west bank of the Flats. Scott Wolstein's redevelopment proposal for the east bank gets much of the buzz. But as Price observes from his perch across the river, "those guys don't even have a shovel in the ground." Price and Corna already have about 400 housing units and another 108 under construction for the growing Stonebridge neighborhood on the west bank. Stonebridge Place, which will include 100 townhouse lofts, will lead the Stonebridge's latter phases of development. Eventually, Price and Corna see the neighborhood extending north on Center Street and piggybacking off redevelopment plans they have for the Superior Viaduct. http://www.cleveland.com/weblogs/business/index.ssf?/mtlogs/cleve_business/archives/2006_09.html#185711

I love the Federal Knitting Mills. Anyone know why Detroit widens so much in front of that building?

Its interesting that they have fireplaces in the building. How old is it? Was it always a commercial building?
  9. Sure looks like they will be gone. Strickland has a huge lead over Blackwell.

$25 million is already committed. That's great. How about Canal Basin Park? Is that included? They always include a brief mention of it, but never anything in depth. The park would be a huge asset to downtown.
  11. I never even consider going. I am interested in the economic development possibilities.
  12. Finally, its here. From the PD.. A year late, Lola Bistro arrives Finally, a year after it was scheduled to open, Lola Bistro opens Friday at 2058 East Fourth St., Cleveland. This is the most anticipated restaurant opening here since the original Classics opened in the old Omni International Hotel nearly 20 years ago. But don't count on walking up and grabbing a table for four. Friday is reservations only, and there are no more available. It wouldn't be a bad idea to call now if you want to get in soon. My money says that for a while, it will be hard to get a seat, with the possible exception of Monday and Tuesday nights. More on Lola next week, after I've eaten there. For reservations, call the restaurant at 216-621-5652.
  13. "how many more people have to die before they get off their asses and do something that actually has impact?" Its this type of grandstanding that irritates me. What was Jackson supposed to do? Go inside the home before they served the warrant and tell the man nicely to put down his gun?
  14. After weighing all the plusses and minuses, I'm for the casinos. Its not like I love the gd things, but overall I see a benefit. I'll be voting for them.
  15. ^I heard that Philadelphia is seeing the same surge that Cleveland is seeing. Any word on the national murder rate?
  16. Does anyone think that this thing could pass? Ohio has always killed the gambling issues in prior years.
  17. who doesn't like Key Tower? Its no Chrysler Building, but its a handsome structure.

For you, that's still borderline nice.

  20. Did they give a reason why Detroit needs to be widened? Sure doesn't seem like it needs any further expansion. On the other hand, if its not widened, do we lose an interesection at 28th? Does the roadway not come down to grade? Before I make a fuss about losing the building, I want to know all the ramifications. (kind of like fighting for a bikelane only to lose an entire block of vintage buildings on Euclid at 55th).

My sentiments exactly. I need to schedule some phantom meeting so that I can get out of the office.
  22. Why would Cimperman pressure ODOT to take the Jamestown building?

I've already noticed. I figured that you'd have something negative to say about the welcomehometocleveland site. But no, you were positive about it. How long will this last? ;)
  25. Nope. Read the article. Its the building on 9th with the SBC logo on it.
