Cleveland: TV / Film Industry News
The panelist from Boston was agonizing to listen to. His slow pace, with some low-talking sprinkled in, made for some bad radio. He also had an agenda that didn't really address the issue and was not relevant to the goals of the tax credit.

Cleveland: Downtown: Wendy Park
The Lake Link trail would spur off of the Towpath Trail near the Lorain-Carnegie Bridge and continue up the west bank of the Flats and connect to Wendy Park via the pedestrian bridge. http://buildingcleveland.org/what-we-do/projects/urban-design/lake-link-trail/

UrbanOhio Parents & Families
In Ohio City, we have a group of about 30 (we've grown since the story) families who make up the Ohio City Babysitting Co-op. It makes finding a babysitter very easy. Basically, all the parents are friends so there are no worries about who is watching your kid. Here is a story and video on the local news about us: http://www.wkyc.com/news/article/184492/163/Ohio-City-Group-of-parents-shares-babysitting-duties?odyssey=mod%7Cnewswell%7Ctext%7CFRONTPAGE%7Ct

I use Comswitch. 100% local. The owner himself shows up if I ever need anything tweaked. He may not be taking new customers.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
I've heard that there is less than a 50% chance that this thing would be in the OC. More likely it would go in a different city neighborhood.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
Don't forget to mention the impact that the Campus International School is already having on the near west side, the east side inner burbs and downtown. The signifiant change already happening is altogether lost on the ignorant naysayers.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
Good god you Urban Ohio idiots, don't you see that this sort of news is so much more important for the development of Ohio City and Detroit-Shoreway than some cute signage?? :), but also :(

Cleveland: University Circle (General): Development and News
I see this as a great opportunity. This parcel is surrounded by some very energetic developments. If the Co-op location and that small scale landscape/christmas tree operation don't find a higher and better use, then some people aren't doing their kindergarten-level homework. If losing the Co-op is a downer, I'd say that the incredible growth in local farmers' markets and CSA's renders the Co-op a white elephant.

A babysitting Co-op in Ohio City decided to take school issues into its own hands: http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2011/06/west_side_cleveland_charter_sc.html Near West Intergenerational charter school to open this year after push from parents CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A group of West Side parents agonized as their children approached school age. They were uncertain about the Cleveland schools in their neighborhood, but could not find a convenient alternative that didn't have a waiting list. Their answer? Recruit one. Near West Intergenerational School, a new charter school spun off from a highly regarded Cleveland model, will open in late August or early September with students in kindergarten through second grade. It hopes to add a grade per year until reaching the eighth. The parents who brought Near West to the Ohio City neighborhood came together through a babysitting co-op that formed four years ago and now comprises about 20 families and 35 to 40 children up to age 7. On any given day, someone is taking care of someone else's kids, earning points that can be redeemed for future babysitting.

I felt the same after they opened. I've been there now about 30 times and I like their burritos better than any others. In fact, I now only eat burritos from OCB. I think they've improved, but I couldn't say exactly how because I don't remember how I wasn't satisfied before. Great place. Great owners.

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
I wish that they'd give the numbers for how many students live near to campus. With the apartments just east of the inner belt and all the students in living in the apartments along E. 12th (Euclid to Superior), there are a lot more students living "on campus."

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
This is the north-of-Chester project that we've heard about it for a while. I'm not sure if this project is outside of the CollegeTown footprint, but it is all part of the same agenda: CSU to introduce more on-campus housing Newest plans call for $50M mixed-use complex, featuring 275-plus apartments By TIMOTHY MAGAW 4:30 am, May 16, 2011 ...As for the latest plans, Dr. Berkman said the university will lease 6.8 acres of land to Polaris Real Estate Equities, a developer in Gates Mills, to build a mixed-use housing complex for students and non-students. University officials would not discuss the terms of the lease until the deal was finalized. Expected to open in summer 2012, the $50 million complex would feature between 275 to 300 apartments on the north side of the university's campus on Chester Avenue between East 21st and East 25th streets. If the complex proves to be a success, a second phase would be considered, according to Joe Mosbrook, a university spokesman.... http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20110516/SUB1/305169982

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
The pedestrian bridge is a lot of infrastructure for little or no gain. Actually I think it would be quite ugly and dominant. The nice part about that stretch of Lorain is the view of the tower. The bridge would completely mar that view. The street needs to narrowed a bit. Add a simply planted median. Signage would be nice if it is tasteful and appropriately scaled. I'd hate to see a large "West Side Market" gateway sign arching over the road--that would be too cliche. The WSM tower is the gateway sign. You'd never see a large gateway sign just outside the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, would you?

Ohio Cities' Downtown Population
Low income? I realize there are a couple of subsidized buildings downtown, but I'd say that downtown population is doing pretty well for itself financially. I do think that we'd have more amentities if the housing pockets weren't so spread out. I think that there would be more amenities if the rents were lower for the ground floor tenants. With the rents that they can charge, the clubs and fancy restaurants are the only ones able to pay those prices.
