  1. I think the majority of the expense will go towards the parking garage. They are going to eliminate the surface parking that faces Wade Oval. Again, I wish that they could work with the other institutions to build joint parking structures. CMA is building a new garage just across Jeptha. I know that they prefer to have their patrons walk straight into their own buildings, but it would be better for the Circle if parking was consolidated.
  2. I can't find the link online, but the PD print version has a story about how the Natural History Museum will be renovating itself into a more interesting and interactive place. They are also going to build a new parking garage. I really wish that some of these institutions would built joint parking facilities. I remember talking to someone at CMNH last year. She said that the expansion was not an attempt at bringing in more folks to see the place--it is more of an attempt to enliven what they've got.
  3. ^I hope all other projects follow suit. :)
  4. how can they be considered two phases if they both start at the same time?
  5. ^its the PD, not the Sun. What did you expect? :)
  6. I just listened to the podcast. Nothing new.

"Ramirez, 21, was rated Atlanta's No. 20 prospect by Baseball America before this season. He was hitting .285 with nine homers in 267 at-bats for the Braves' Class A Rome affiliate. He was picked for the South Atlantic League All-Star Game."

I saw on ESPN that we got a prospect that was ranked as the Braves' 20th best. What!!! Did Wick lose a limb between yesterday and today?! What kind of trade is that?

Let's see what we'll get for him. Indians trade Wickman to Braves The Indians traded Bob Wickman to Atlanta for a minor league prospect.
  11. David, With the amount of posts that you have graced us with in the past day or so, you really are in love with Cleveland! By the way, Ohio City was originally its own municipality back in the early 1800s.
  12. Finch and Heartland are working with the Cleveland Foundation and, yes, Fannie Lewis to make Upper Chester a realty reality. But you didn't hear that from me.
  13. MGD, The lecture portion really helped me understand all the different maps. I left having a pretty clear feeling about what I would like to see happen.
  14. I really didn't follow that comment at all. Isn't the project all about paying attention to the city as a whole as well as the individual neighborhoods??? Besides some of the alternatives, the only thing that I didn't like is that they would take the neighbor of Linda's Suprette to widen W.28th.
  15. I assume that they had to build the Wright Center asap due to funding.
  16. Great idea! That would be a great marketing tool to entice more people to start their tours of the CVNP at Tower City.
  17. ^From what I heard, most people didn't like the W.25th/Detroit roundabout. I think that would be completely unnecessary and complicate pedestrian and traffic patterns. I'm totally in love with the plans for upper Edgewater. There is one option that for some reason creates a new access road--well that's pretty stupid. The other ones remove the Lake Ave access roads and add a lot of space to the park.
  18. Anyone out there have any Cleveland tatoos?
  19. Its good to hear some news about this. Its incredible that its been over a year since they started negotiations.
  20. The article gives a pretty accurate account of what happened. Some people ignorantly bitched, others called for rail inclusion and some just tried to keep their baby quiet (that's me). Here is a link to the presentation: http://www.innerbelt.org/Presentations/071906Lakefront/LakefrontPublicMtgJuly19_files/frame.htm
  21. ^ah, go shoot yourself with a gas pump.
  22. Wilmar, here. I love Cleveland and David!
  23. ah, go shoot yourself with a gas pump.
  24. ^is this tied in with the Ohio Hub stuff or is it totally different?
  25. The problem is that MLK is simply one-long driveway for University Circle. Not many people want to stop and take a look because there is no where to park. Parking needs to be improved, yet not become invasive. Additionally, there needs to be another reason to stop and get out of the car. Maybe we need to add other amenities; maybe we need to repackage the current offerings to entice more visitors. I would prefer not to rely on park programming to infuse more people into the park. Capital improvements need to be made. Also, we need to make Dike 14 into a destination so that people will be drawn out of UC and into the park on the way to the lakefront. How about a small bike rental facility? How about creating better links up Fairhill and MLK by building bike and walking trails to entice the Heights to come on down the hill? The original land of Rockefeller Park included the Shaker Lakes! We need to sew the severed stretch back together physically and psychologically. Its always a good strategy to play off your strengths--we've got two of Cleveland's strongest neighborhoods just up the hill and we need to tie that into the Cirlce and beyond.
