Cleveland: Critical mass of people for downtown
Punch, You really dug this one up. Assuming all the projects go forward and sell well, we will approach a critical mass. Still, most of these projects are somewhat isolated from each other. I view Stark's as the one that has the greatest catalytic effect (West Bank as well, but that one seems more long term) because it will be located close to all of the housing units in the WHD.

The Ohio State University Buckeyes Football Discussion
good news for downtown..this will bring in a lot of money as the OSU football-crazed fans travel into Cleveland. OSU football to play in Cleveland in '09 11:21 a.m. From staff reports Ohio State and Toledo have signed an agreement to play a football game at Cleveland Browns Stadium in 2009. OSU athletic director Gene Smith said today that the Buckeyes and Toledo are locked in on a two-game series. The second game will be held in Columbus in 2011, Smith said. The last time Ohio State played a game in Cleveland was 1991, when the Buckeyes stopped Northwestern, 34-3, at Municipal Stadium. More at www.cleveland.com

Has anybody ever heard of these neighborhoods and junctions in Cleveland???
Re-opening the brook opens a huge can of worms. It won't happen in the Cedar rapid to Chester/MLK section.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Avenue District
Its kind of hard to blame developers who price and target their product to sell to the most viable market niche. Of course I wish that downtown living was more accessible to all, but its just not realistic. As downtown becomes less of a risk, I think that you will see some other options come available.

Cleveland: Flats Developments (Non-Stonebridge or FEB)
looking forward to seeing the entire article! I particularly like this one because it aims to fill out the entire West Bank and create a self-sustaining neighborhood.

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
^ParkWorks is looking into doing a master plan that would make some significant changes to Public Square. In the short term, the county is providing funding to re-landscape portions of the Square to improve sightlines, etc.

View of Cleveland from the Crib
I came across this photo taken from the 5-mile crib (water intake station). As you can see, a certain May/June visitor was on the lense.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
i think he's talking about replacing the surface lot with a park. That area could be a great plaza where people could gather before and after ballgames. I'd like to see some restaurant space with residential or office above that faced the plaza on the eastern and western sides of the surface lot. The restaurants could spill out onto the plaza with cafe seating. As for the park at E.9th and Huron/Prospect. Its a nice little park that improves the patch of concrete. Unfortunately, the County is going to disassemble the park when they begin their project and use the space as a staging area. It should return to its current state after construction, but one never knows.

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
While I love what skyscrapers do for the skyline, I would rather have a few midsize buildings that filled in the gaps and dispersed the streetlife a bit. Oftentimes the large skyscrapers build indoor retail spaces that eliminate the need for workers to venture outside for lunch and other misc errands.

Tallest Building Demolished in Your City (inspired by SSP)
An old hospital in Memphis were Elvis died was just imploded this year. I am not sure how tall it was, but I believe it took the crown as the largest building to be imploded. Cleveland... I think that the old Western Reserve Building (if that is the correct name) was imploded to make way for the Sohio Building/BP Building.

The Sexiest Politicians in Ohio
ROFLMAO!!!!! On the real though...can we get some congressional eye candy from Ohio??? Can we get a (sexy) Barack Obama, a (yummy) Harold Ford, a (tight bodied) Luis Fortuno or (cutie) Jesse Jackson Jr.?? Harold Ford was my Rep while in Tennesse. As an unbiased?? straight guy, I'd take Barack 1000 times before Harold Ford.

Cleveland: Stonebridge Phase 5
Is that considered the west bank of the flats or Ohio City? Its up for grabs. I wouldn't consider it the Flats because its up on the bluff. I wouldn't consider it Ohio City because it its separated by the Shoreway.
