There are many Clevelanders who take pride in the size of Playhouse Square. Architecturally, its pretty cool. But as Blinker12 suggests, Cleveland stands out with its smaller theaters. In the drama world, Cleveland is well-respected and seen as a place for good employment (we are often negative about this stuff, but non-Clevelanders often see Chicago as over-run by people looking for theater work and see Cleveland as a place holding great opportunities) Uncle Rando--how does Nashville deserve to be mentioned in this conversation? Their theater district is almost non-existent, headlined only by a very very ugly 1960s theater.

Of course, this has nothing to do with patronizing the chain stores in the suburbs. It has everything to do with market studies of residential income that national retailers conduct when they decide where to locate their stores. Additionally, do you suggest that I not purchase a car seat for my baby boy because I would be supporting the suburbs?
  5. Interesting. So, Charles Koch of Charter One was involved in the decision. Look for a lot of the Uptown Initiative's funds (not a majority) to go towards making this project a success. DDR was greatly involved in the last attempt to build on the beach. I am glad that they won't be involved this time because their prior ideas were somewhat bland. MRN envisions significant density along Euclid.

I am too lazy to take a peak at the layout, but I hope that there are views of the Steel Mill (but as I recall, I think some of the boxes will be in the way). This will probably be the closest that I can get to a working steel mill. As I will be moving to Ohio City soon, I will say that I am glad that this sort of shopping will be close by. There are certain things that I just can't get in the neighborhood stores. I'll feel much better knowing that my sales tax will be going to Cleveland. Sure wish that the RTA would spur the Pink line off at 25th, through Tremont, through SYC, and up and out to 25th/Pearl.
  7. They won't lose the Circle part. Actually, I am a bit disappointed in the lack of creativity.
  8. Stadium Mustard --when I lived in Nashville, I could find it in the gourment aisle at Kroger.

Yes, that was Corna. He really has a thing for roofs. I think that the Flats idea was great, as long as it could avoid creating a sterile environment.

I heard that Corna wants to put a dome over the existing Stonebridge structures. ;)

Mayday, Sorry. I just wanted to talk to you.

^yeah, you'd better apologize. ;) From the lay point of view, the other stonebridge buildings looked like they were built out of that cheap chrome looking stuff that bends if you apply some pressure. This stuff looks like real steel.
  13. Corna is Price's (Stonebridge) architect of choice. He also is the guy pushing the roof for the stadium.
  14. I believe that Thundertech is handling the marketing. They have a bunch of 20-somethings running things.
  15. UH is considering the OfficeMax site as an option to consolidate their back office staff.
  16. Mayday, If you know anyone who has three million dollars, let Parkworks know.
  17. While this is a good project, I hope that it doesn't poach the UH back-office relocation that has a shot at going in the 668 Building.
  18. Mr. Cimperman got married to a Parkworks employee. Additionally, Parkworks has moved away from educational programming. Oh, and the Perk Park project is still alive.
  19. ^i believe that it was a family illness that lead to her break. She's returned and working for the Cleveland Foundation.
  20. Musky, Thanks for the info. What is the SEIU building going to be used for? What is the side letter agreement? Any word on the transit center?
  21. There is a forumer who designed one of the dogs. Ella, are you out there somewhere?
  22. Very interesting.
