Its more fun to discuss the Indians when they don't lose 3 in a row. I hope Fausto has a great game today. He could be our No. 1 starter of the future.
  2. I wouldn't consider downtown very Disney. Legacy Village is Disney.
  3. Its good to know that we have some eloquent businessmen in this community.

    The plot thickens!

You're too hungry for my patience. :)

Well, the biggest problem I see is that the Port is against Lighthouse and it is the agency that will be using ED on behalf of Wolstein.

My biggest worry is Wolstein and the Port. How will they react? Will this slow the project? I also think that Wolstein is being an idiot as this will only raise the profile of his development. It would be a lot easier to sign on big name retail tenants if there are two large residential towers next door.

Kevmr, The demand for new hotel rooms in Cleveland is pretty soft as well as new office space. I think that banks would be reluctant to finance such a project given the poor demand at the present time. We need to focus on adding population to downtown. The demand is there, but absorbtion rates are low. We've got momentum, but it will take a while before we grow to a significant population. Once the population is up, then you will see a rise in demand for hotels and maybe office space.
  9. ^Why would Charlotte be looking to move??

This is the first time that I've heard this news. (Its from ESPN) "Two weeks ago in Orlando, Fla., Darko Milicic and his agent sat down to discuss his contract extension options. The talk was brief, according to agent Mark Cornstein, and rightfully so. Nobody is quite sure what Darko is worth, and it's unlikely he'll find out this summer. That makes him an aberration among the top five members of the draft class of 2003. The other four are certain to receive maximum-value, five-year contract extension offers from their teams this summer. To put it simply, LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade are all "max" players. James, Anthony and Wade are all expected to accept their extensions, but Bosh has said nothing definitive as of yet."
  11. ^BP is smaller than the Terminal. I would assume that the new owners are not changing the name until a new or existing tenant will negotiate to put its name on the building.

Volpe is the architect that made the presentation yesterday.
  13. That was my other thought. Any word on how the actual sales are going?
  14. In the latest newsletter from the Avenue, they mention a "big announcement" that you can be the first to hear if you go to their meet-up at the City Club on April 26. I have my doubts that it will be some huge announcement--if they had some really good news, they wouldn't wait to get it out in the press. I wonder if they will announce the name of a retail tenant.
  15. Haven't we learned not to put our sports arenas right on the waterfront? Save the land for housing and put the arena a few blocks south.

naw, you're not too pessimistic. Before you diss the development vision of a surface lot magnet, keep in mind KJP's find. Shaia is card-playing buddies with Asher (co-developer with Stark on the Warehouse mega project). If they play cards together, then I think that that its not out of the realm of possibility that they could share similar visions for downtown redevelopment.

I hope that you are wrong. I have a feeling that this is more than just an attempt at getting more cash. This lot is intended to be used as surface parking by Wolstein. I don't see it as essential to his project. In the Warehouse district plan, the land is envisioned as Shaia has proposed. As far as we know, no one else has gone to this length to "pump up" his land value.

Considering that the construction trailer is located where the new construction will go, it won't be anytime soon. I saw an updated image of the new construction and it looks pretty good (much improved from the earlier renderings).
  22. Well, that is interesting.. What else do you know about that?

fyi.. Work has just begun on the Park Lane Villas project.
  24. Once the ECTP is finished, the County gets started and this project moves forward, this stretch of Euclid will be in great shape. While the Avenue is a great project, this project does a lot more for Cleveland. I am sick of giving tours that conveniently avoid this stretch of Euclid. This project could do a lot to improve the image that our downtown projects. Let's hope that Mr. Mann breaks ground soon.
