Statement Skyscrapers
If the skyscrapper is residential, then I wouldn't mind having them on streets in downtown, University Circle, Quay, detroit shoreway, Ohio City or the flats. I think downtown Cleveland is the best place for commercial towers, however, midrise signature towers in UC don't bother me When the first post mentioned the entrance into the metro area, I don't think that UC hardly qualifies as the entrance into Cleveland Metro. Nowadays, its Brunswick and Strongsville, Avon or Bay Village that would qualify as such. I would love to see 10-15 story buildings in UC.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
When I heard that Savage was going to leave and Collins was going to stay, I felt like we were taking a giant step backward. The final scenario is a win-win the Browns organization.

coventry merchants regain street's cred via american apparel
I heard that the Coventry store will be named 'Suburban Buddha.'

Statement Skyscrapers
Scary scary concept. It would be a horrible idea to build a skyscraper in, say, Strongsville or Amherst. It would further decimate our office market and sprawl sprawl sprawl!

coventry merchants regain street's cred via american apparel
re: City Buddha with the strange Cleveland sense of the east side/west side divide, I don't see the two locations as competing against each other. Does the West 25th location give any appearance that it is shutting down? The Coventry location looks as if the only thing missing is merchandise.

Cleveland: Downtown Storefront Displays
I heard that some installation was going in the May Co. spot, but that was about 3 weeks ago. Was it already been taken down? MGD--what do you know?

North Randall: Randall Park Mall
I have never been there. I remember in the 80s that it was revered as a shopping mecca. I also remember when Parmatown was well-regarded. So, what will be the next Randall Park Mall? What will be the Randall Park Mall of 2020?

What are Cleveland's most stable neighborhoods?
A lot of homes have been subdivided into apartments. Also, there have been a nice amount of townhomes/condos that have gone up. I believe the population increase amounts to 500 more residents.

What are Cleveland's most stable neighborhoods?
I saw some interesting stats on Little Italy. Among them were...Overall, the population of the area has gone up 14% in the past decade. The person per household ratio has gone down.

Cleveland: Downtown Storefront Displays
^Its coming along. Expect to see something by in the next couple of months. Also, another similar project has started in the old May Co. windows. Has anyone seen how that looks?

coventry merchants regain street's cred via american apparel
I was on Coventry today: it is good to see 4 vacant storefronts turning into 4 occupied storefronts: -GroundFloor Comedy opens Jan. 6th (not to mention the recent opening of, um, Johnny Malloys and the resuscitated Centrum marquee) -City Budha has just about finished renovations inside the old organic food store -American Apparel has just started renovating its space -new Thai rest. opening up at the old Karma location

JDD941, Welcome to UrbanOhio! Leave cleveland.com behind! There are som pretty knowledgeable people on this forum. I think that you'll find many like-minded folks who have already expressed many of your transit ideas.

A Greater Cleveland: How Urban Renewal Can Re-Shape a City
Why do they use the term "urban renewal"? I think that most would associate it with the demolish and pave strategies of the 60s.. Sounds like a very interesting forum. It would be great to see it.

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
I agree about the exterior. How did the College ever let the university do that? I like the interior, though. I like the open forum/atrium. I also like all the geometric shapes that the different levels create.

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
^It would be nice to see it out front. A full bike rack suggests that the building inside has some youth and energy in it.

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
^next step for the Storefront group? If there were funding, it would be nice to get a local artist to make 10 bike racks or so to be placed at prominent points on campus. I love when I see bikes locked outside a building, it lends a sense of life. (at the very least, the Urban College needs one. C'mon Rosentraub, make the school look like what it preaches) I remember when I saw all the bikes locked up at University Hospitals--its cool to see. There are so many medical residents that bike down from the Heights each day.

Northeast Ohio / Cleveland: General Transit Thread
I remember reading about CSU's intention to build some sort of field house above the transit center. Yet, I remember it being a 'long-term' idea. Maybe that has changed? When CSU builds more housing, I hope that it is mixed-use. Coffee shops and bars will entice kids to live in the area. Beyond Fenn Tower, there are not any further announcements regarding the next wave of student housing. I hope the next project is announced on the heals of Fenn's opening--it would be good to continue the momentum.

North Randall: Randall Park Mall
But isn't there a huge and vibrant retail area on Severence Mall's grave? I remember it being worse than Euclid Square Mall for a while, then looking like Montrose or Mentor the next time I was out that way... Severance is now a big-box development that is doing some very good business. Walmart, Home Depot, Borders, etc.

Northeast Ohio / Cleveland: General Transit Thread
^Its tough to quantify how many lots the structure will replace. If you read through CSU's masterplan, they are pretty careful to note how many spaces they must create in garages to replace the ones that they building on. Believe, CSU doesn't want to build parking just for the hell of it. Its expensive to build theses structures.

Cleveland: Bob Stark Warehouse District Project
I would like to see a public elementary school in the mix for the lakefront phase of Pesht. That would help make the area much more of a neighborhood and entice families to move there. Downtown will never reach its full potential if it only caters to empty-nesters, singles and child-less couples.

Interesting stuff...If Stark pulls this all off, KJP seems to have some good material for a book.
