Cleveland: 2005 Mayoral Election
The paper says that Marty Sweeney will probably be the new Council President. I find this very interesting considering that he was one of my brother's best friends in grade and high school. He's a good guy from a very Irish family. He played on CSU's sweet 16 team and went to the best high school in the city ;) But, will he make a good council president? I don't know much about his politics.

There has been some rumors that he could be the next president of University Circle Incorporated.

Those parcels north of the tower were listed under "phase II." No timeline was ever given for the second phase.

I think that CMHA believes that things can be built there, but banks won't fund it if its unstable.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
I saw a large banner being unveiled today on the Landmark office towers. It is on the red brick part that faces Ontario. It looks like it is of a basketbal player. Hmm, whoever could it be? :)

YSOH Frank's right-hand man and convention board appointee (Ken Silliman) is 100% behind the mall site.

I saw the online article. Living in Cleveland Hts, I haven't been able to access the West Side Sun News print edition. What does the other article discuss?

Quicken Loans expanding to Cleveland
Livonia?? The epicenter of charm deserves those jobs over downtown Detroit. Having lived in Detroit for a while, I would love to see those jobs move downtown. Anyways, the traffic is horrible out there.

Quicken Loans expanding to Cleveland
A few observations: 1. It is normal for a company to consider different cities in order to determine the most cost effective site. 2. When did Gilbert ever hint at bringing anything besides the 300 Quicken jobs to Cleveland? 3. While he does own the Cavs, his allegiance and heart are still in Detroit. I would find it difficult to believe that he would give up on his town altogether.

Cleveland: 2005 Mayoral Election
I listened to the second debate. I think that Campbell won the debate, but I feel that her tone may have turned off more folks than she won over.

Smack, Might you be referring to the Carter Manor that is across the street from Osborne?

Cincinnati Skyloop... WTF?
Bury that idea!

Cleveland: Detroit-Superior Lofts
^I agree. That could raise some issues. I know that construction costs are still too high for the project to work. But maybe if a targeted group could foster enough commitments then Marous would go ahead with the project. We all know that the heteros couldn't come through..

Cleveland: Detroit-Superior Lofts
I also like the strategy. It would be great if Cleveland could be part of some forward-thinking and take advantage of what seems to be an untapped market.

Cleveland: University Circle (General): Development and News
Hessler residents were given permission to park on the beach a while ago. They don't want to lose their parking. Someone said "if you build on the beach, the Hessler residents will lay down infront of the bulldozers." I say all the better!

Cleveland: University Circle: Uptown (UARD)
Case will redevelop the Triangle. The only question remains: to what extent? As the article said, RFPs go out later this month. We'll know more early next year.

Cleveland: University Circle (General): Development and News
The Hessler St. people crack me up. I saw an aerial map of UC that was about 25 years old. I am amazed at the amount of surface parking that has been turned into green space or buildings.

I agree. I am really surprised at how quickly the facade went up.

Cleveland: Innerbelt News
Its the day that stuff will be shown to the public. Everything that is being discussed and that will be shown to the public is already on innerbelt.org. Just look at the Ppts. Nothing new should happen on 11/17. OC is much farther behind the Bridge. A bridge will get built, however, the OC is an idea that is far from refinement.

Cleveland: Innerbelt News
Why rush across bridge to Cleveland's future? Monday, October 31, 2005 It's always smart to get a second opinion before undergoing a difficult and expensive surgical operation. The same holds true for Cleveland, where the Ohio Department of Transportation is planning a $700 million makeover of the Inner Belt, the network of vital traffic arteries and bridges that connects three interstates on the south and east sides of downtown... ^all the homes between Sector and I-90 will be torn down. I am not sure about the space between Sector and the Home Depot. There certainly is a lot of commericial space going up in Cleveland.
