  1. I've heard some rumblings that some developers are looking at it as a hotel. There is more interest because of the proposed medical mart.
  2. ^watch over the next two months as a beautiful new plaza appears before your own eyes..
  3. There is a new restaurant that will be opening up in Tremont soon. I forget the name, but I pass it every day on the way to work. It is at the corner of Fairfield and W.11th.
  4. ^I didn't know that Bratenahl had any commercial space.
  5. i thought that I heard that they had all the financing lined up, so things may have changed. My source was as reliable as it gets. Most of the new residential was going to be rentals, so therefore they didn't have to get any presales.
  6. ^Supposedly they can't shut down public square completely because Superior is a federal route and we'd have to give back millions or something like that. I think that just about everyone but RTA would love to shut down the Square. I don't know, maybe it still could happen.

I wonder how this guy defines "hip". Depending on his personal tastes, he might find Tremont more hip than East 4th or vice versa.

I'd vote for downtown over the east side. If you listened to the type of housing that he is looking for, he won't find it in the Heights areas. I would also point him towards Tremont. Specifically, the Tremont Place Lofts. http://www.tremontplacelofts.com
  9. 327, It can take a good long time to build a bridge. Add in the fact that there are two sets of rapid tracks and one set of rr tracks underneath the bridge--that amount of time is perfectly normal.
  10. I'm with the cle.com posters on this one... why did this tiny bridge take 4.5 years to build? It didn't take 4.5 years to build. Read the article and you'll see that they are referring to the fact that it has been 4.5 years since both the Adelbert and Cornell bridges were last open together. Once they replaced Adelbert, they closed Cornell and began construction. Each bridge took about 2 years to build. The initial demo of the Adelbert bridge was delayed because the railroad (Conrail?) was very slow to agree to allowing demolition to occur over their tracks.

So Shaq averaged about 18 points a game. I'm sure that the vast majority of those points came in the paint. I wonder how many of Z's points came in the paint when he was initiating the offense. It seems like the majority of his baskets came on outside jumpers and tip-ins after missed shots. It will be nice to have a legitimate inside scoring threat when the game is on the line.

Windhorst always has good comments: The Cavs have Shaq; so what is the impact? by Brian Windhorst/Plain Dealer Reporter Thursday June 25, 2009, 12:43 AM From a blockbuster perspective, getting Shaquille O'Neal is the biggest trade in Cavs history. There's a lot to discuss there. But what does this mean for the Cavs, the remaining players on the roster and the rest of their offseason plans? Let's discuss. • Shaq will now be the Cavs starting center, which means for the first time in a decade Zydrunas Ilgauskas will move out of that role and come off the bench. This will not come as a shock, the Cavs discussed this move with both Z and LeBron months ago and likely spoke to them about it in the last week. • The Cavs still want to re-sign Anderson Varejao. Not only do they still need a young big man but Andy is a perfect foil for teams that would give the Cavs matchup problems with Shaq. He can play along side him and also play center when the Cavs play small. Full story at http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index.ssf/2009/06/the_cavs_have_shaq_so_what_is.html

The Suns were/are an up tempo team. I never saw the logic in adding a player such as Shaq to that mix in PHX.

This should be a fun year. Can you imagine what this team would be like if the Gund had not sold it to Gilbert? I think that Gilbert has made all the difference.
  15. ^hmm..Rosetta and Asher??
  16. I think that you'd feel safer at the Crittenden. I'd bet that the crime stats are pretty equal for both and are quite low. There are a lot more people out on the street near the Crittenden--this makes it feel safer late at night. The Crittenden is very close to a lot of amenities (small grocer, bars, restaurants, etc). The Heritage Suites is located on the edge of downtown next to the highway. You might have some pretty awesome views from the Crittenden as well.
  17. Does anyone know if their footprint allows for expansion? As long as they're in the region, I'd like to see them grow as much as possible. I wonder how strong the Charlotte bid for Eaton was.
  18. Either it would be for workforce expansion or for sharing with another future user (probably relocating from downtown of course).
  19. What do you mean by "not that unusual"? What percentage of commuters do you think have a 1 hour commute in this area?
  20. Nice. I'm surprised the the writer didn't mentioned the green bulkheads. This allows the walls to remain for commercial shipping, but also permits fish to flourish. The design was created for the Cuyahoga, but they are hoping to patent the design and implement it in other rivers around the country.
  21. I don't know what exactly happened, but here's what I know: Around 9am this morning, there was a loud boom that shook the buildings across the street. Within minutes, 5 fire trucks were on the scene and the building was roped off. Later, bomb squad or hazardous materials crews were on the scene. Later, i heard from a good source that the owner was illegally storing some hazardous chemicals in the structure. By 5pm today, they started some selected demo. From the looks of it, I wonder if they just opened up some secctions to allow it to vent. I'm not the expect with these type of things..but I was an eye witness.
  22. Those arguments are pretty easy to defeat.
  23. I'd guess that this is a sign that he's giving up on putting a casino down there (unless there'd still be enough room for both).
  24. Interesting. 2010 seems quite ambitions. I'd rather see this in a place where it would benefit from its neighbors (northcoast harbor).
  25. ^I've heard that this project ran into some financing issues very recently.
