Plate tracking: 1. is the car stolen? 2. is the car owned by someone with an outstanding warrant? 3. is the registration current? Plate tracking gives you a lot of information.- If worse comes to worst where would you move?
If worse comes to worse, then I probably wouldn't be able to sell my house. If we can't sell the house, it would be difficult to move. Additionally, my wife's job is pretty much recession proof.- Cleveland Public Schools: News and Discussion
I have two kids. They will attend Urban Community School. Have you not heard of this school?- Cleveland Public Schools: News and Discussion
That's something that is changing, but change will be slow. Just in the past five years in Ohio City, that change is pretty evident. Lots of families are having kids and deciding to stay in the neighborhood. It will take a lot more before any significant change is felt city-wide, but the ball is rolling.- Cleveland: General Business & Economic News

More than 100 calls have poured into the company's Beachwood office since MAN announced two weeks ago that it had moved its headquarters here with an eye toward manufacturing solar power systems, operating just-in-time automotive sub assembly plants, building marine power systems and expanding its defense contracting. if you work downtown, I have a dentist who is very good and doesn't look for extra things to do to your teeth. It is so convenient to have your dentist downtown if you work there.- A social/economic/political/philosophical debate forum?

Ever seen a Rangers v Celtic, River Plate v Boca Juniors, Fenerbahce v Galatasaray, or Barcelona v Real Madrid match? Baseball playoffs dont even come close to any of those matches. Well, yes I have. And I think that it is comparing apples to oranges. We could lapse into a giant futbol vs. whatever (I've spent a few years living in futbol countries, so I know what you're talking about.) and I've come to the conclusion that one will favor whatever they were raised with (hate ending a sentence with a prep--sorry).- Cleveland: Wind Turbine Construction News
you'd think that there would be some sort of high pitched noise that they could emit from those towers that would cause birds to avoid them.- Contemplating A Career Switch – Thoughts?
CSU's Levin College can really point you in the right direction. Without understanding more about your interests, I would caution you in regards to the design aspect of CSU's urban planning program. CSU's program is more focused on the non-design side of planning. There is some design coursework, but it is not that strong. Still, I think that the program sets up you to confront the true issues that Cleveland faces. Oh, before I forget, acceptance into CSU's masters program is easy. The college is highly ranked, but it is still easy to get in to. Don't fret in the least bit. I completely understand your passion for Cleveland. After college graduation, i spent about 9 years outside of Cleveland (always yearning to come back). I'm back for good and really enjoy a very good job in the planning field in Cleveland. If you have a decent head on your shoulders and take advantage of CSU's graduate internships (easy to get), then you should find fulfilling work. If you are more interested in the actual design of buildings, then I am not the person to ask. I know that there are some KSU arch grads on this board. They will be better able to answer your questions. For a good example of a guy who loved Cleveland, wanted to work in planning but had no experience--read this: http://www.cleveland.com/arts/index.ssf/2008/09/planner_for_building_cleveland.html PM with any further questions. I'd be happy to answer them.- Contemplating A Career Switch – Thoughts?
If it weren't time to put the kids to bed, I'll answer your questions now. I'll get back to this topic tonight or tomorrow. But I'm sure that you'll get a lot of good advice from the Levin contingent on this board.- Cleveland: University Circle (General): Development and News

First studies encouraging on Lake Erie wind turbines Posted by Tom Breckenridge/Plain Dealer Reporter September 30, 2008 18:21PM Categories: Breaking News, Economic development, Energy Lake Erie's wind, geology and habitat can accommodate towering wind turbines, new studies from a local energy task force say. Cuyahoga County officials this week rolled out the first three reports from their $1 million study of a grand vision -- erecting two to 10 wind turbines in the lake off Cleveland's shore. The studies "show no deal breakers yet," said Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Bill Mason, chairman of the Great Lakes Energy Development Task Force. .......... http://blog.cleveland.com/business/2008/09/first_studies_encouraging_on_l.html- Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
Have those positive articles been posted on UO? I'd love to read them. I know that they did a nice article on University Circle two years ago. Otherwise, I haven't seen much positive stuff. My friend's friend is a writer for NYT. She's a native Clevelander who has seemingly been in charge of the negative cleveland articles over the past few years. Maybe I'd feel differently if all these articles didn't seem to come from one person. It appears as if one person has an unfair ax to grind and we are the unfortunate recipients while the nation reads yet another negative and slanted piece about Cleveland.- Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
NYT has a lot of Cleveland stories. Not sure why. I always liked it b/c I could get unsensationalized Cleveland news, since you can't get much locally. They don't seem so "unsensationalized" any more. They appear to pigeon hole the City more than anything.- A social/economic/political/philosophical debate forum?

I'd prefer that the storefronts on Detroit fill up before we start giving reasons not to leave Battery Park to the new residents.- Cleveland: Downtown: The Avenue District
It looks like it would be impossible to fit garages on the back portion of the townhomes. The footprint is very small and there is an existing building to the immediate east. Now if they had put that new street that they built a little further to the west, then they could have put the garages on the back part. But then you'd have an extra street cutting into the development off of Superior. That would add a lot of costs and an asphalt to the overall development site. I'd glad that they're doing this portion now. It will help bookend the site a bit. As is, the current townhomes look like they fell into a surface lot.- Cleveland: National City Bank News & Info
I completely agree. I wish that I had a few extra grand to invest. Talk about a knee-jerk market. There is no reason for NCB to be tanking. They'll rebound. What evidence is there for us to believe that is the case for NatCity? Haven't you been following this story? From what I'm reading in the papers and from a friend who is high up in National City, NCB currently is fine. Seems like many investors have a "throw the baby out with the bath water" mentality right now.- Cleveland: National City Bank News & Info

There are a lot of ideas in the mix. There are some very smart people thinking about these things and working to connect the right dots--things take time. From what I've seen, there are many ideas that are completely new and fresh to Cleveland and the Flats. Good things take time--I think Cleveland will be a much better place because Building Cleveland by Design's work.- Cleveland: Flats East Bank
