South Euclid: Cedar Center
That's right. I've heard that The Avenue District, Flats East Bank, Stark and Uptown will all be set back from the street with tons of surface lots in front. Even the Terminal Tower renovation calls for turning the southwest quadrant of Public Square into a surface lot. The sky has fallen and nobody is doing anything right at all in this city.

I really enjoyed the article. A great part of Cleveland's architectural history.

Cleveland Area TOD Discussion
What's missing? Market forces. Would a developer be able to command enough $ per sq ft to make this a financially-viable project? I really don't think so. Would there be enough people willing to buy or rent in a renovated building on this stretch? I don't think so. Too far gone? Have you ever been to this area of Cleveland?

Cleveland: Port Authority News & Info
Welcome and thanks for the glowing prediction. Its not a prediction, its knowledge. You aren't taken seriously here unless you can back up your rumors. This is not Cleveland.com. If you have something constructive to add to the conversation, we'd love to hear it.

Mount Vernon / Knox County: Developments and News
When the Kenyon Lords soccer team was routinely ranked in the top 5 of DIII, we used to sing a song at the matches that mimicked a European soccer/football hymn. In the song, we pronounced it "gam-be-ay. :)

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
I disagree. Cities don't invest in convention centers so that the center itself will pull a profit. They invest in them because they believe that the hotel and restaurant business (and others) will see increased revenues. Therefore, the employment and tax base will increase, making it a worthwhile investment for the city.

Cleveland Area TOD Discussion
If you had the money, would you invest it into preparing these buildings for prospective tenants? Let's be realistic here. While we need more TOD, this is not the location where we should make our next step. Put things into context. The neighborhood is too far gone in this area for one little TOD development to change the tide of blight. Build off of the strengths that we have, create a market for this, then you can go into the most blighted areas of this city start something.

I heard that the idea is to put the dog park in herman park. and the folks who run their dog there are non-plussed. unless the dog park encompasses all of herman park's greenspace, it would be a downsize for most people that use the space there now. disclaimer: I am a cat owner. insight: my cat rarely runs, nor does he need a dog run. ah the rumors... One of the prospective locations is next to Herman park. It is just north in an abandoned section of rail. However, no site has been selected at this time.

Religulous - Bill Maher Documentary
I usually like Maher. I'm not a practicing anything. I lived in the south for a while and am very much sick of the conservative side of religion. Still, there are all sorts of religions, faiths, and congregations out there. Some are very forward-thinking. I just hope that Maher doesn't paint all of them as the wackos.

Winner Really?? I've been to Lima about 10 times. Seems like there are too many taller buildings to be Lima. edit: ok, now I see that i'm entering mid/post conversation. That tall gray building used to have a "Siemens" sign on it. When I didn't see that, I was thrown off. Many large Latin American cities have very similar concrete towers.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
I have to disagree...nothing tests the fortitude of a fan base more than losing...it is easy to be a fan of a team when they are winning on a consistent basis like the Squealers. The fact the Browns consistently sell out every game and rank near the top in merchandise revenue every year, despite fielding less than stellar teams, speaks volumes. I guess I wasn't clear. I agree with you.

Angels on my roof (Cleveland)
^that should be the Heights that you are referring to. Driving west over the 480 bridge gives you a good sense as to how non-flat the southern burbs are.

hey, I really like the brown pants. Anyways, did anyone catch this? Steelers fans voted best in NFL. Browns fans are 3rd. I'll take that considering the past decade or so. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/preview08/columns/story?id=3530077

i don't know when they would be open. Maybe this winter or next spring. I'd look on the east 4th website for MRN's leasing office number and then give them a call.

I'm not sure what happened with Hush, but that space is being taken up by Greenhouse. La Strada should be opening up any day now (is it open already?). Black Finn is next. Maron has its own crew and they are methodical. I think that once they finish La Strada, you'll see some action at Black Finn. The crew is also busy finishing the apartments above Corner Alley.

I think that a "shooting" usually refers to an incident where someone is shot. Do you disagree? If not, maybe we ought to change the title of this thread.

Nance was under the microscope for several dealings with the White administration, including the construction of Browns stadium. Sounds like someone stands to make some money of the taxpayer again... Well, a lot of people make money off of the taxpayer. Are you suggesting that contractors ought to reject any profits that they make when building roads or providing services? Should consultants all offer their services gratis? Or are you saying that someone is accepting bribes?

^Nope. Why Fred Nance?

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
Looks like the Exhibit Builders building on 25th might be coupled with the old CMHA office building in back and converted to market rate apartments. The developer is starting to move forward with this (there were prior rumors that he has looked at adding the CMHA building to his project). Sounds like a great idea--hope it becomes reality.
