MacDonald and Wright looked very good. After that, there is a LARGE drop off. Hopefully we can get another guy in here.

He made the first tackle of the game. Otherwise, the first-team defense only played one series due to the lightning delay. I believe that the Jets got one first down and then were stopped on a qb sneak on fourth down (right at Rogers).

^the NFL tv contract is the bread and butter of the league. The league suffers financially if they have to give up commercial time. My biggest pet peeve is that they go to commercial before and after every kick off.
  4. I know the building you're referring to...its Yellow and currently has a beauty saloon in it and looks like there used to be a furniture store in there. From the river, it looks like it might have been, at one point, a hotel b/c there are balconies off every window on every floor. But I have thought the same thing...great spot for condos That area, where the arhaus furniture store and watermark resaurant were, is currently being referred to by many as Sowo (south of wolstein) and EVERYONE is waiting to see what the current owners decide to do with the properties... (note currently none of those buildings are for sale) I remember seeing something for sale in the past two weeks. It may have been that surface lot next to the Arhaus building. I've heard discouraging things regarding that owner. I don't think that he really understands development or neighborhoods. I think he'd just like to put up some more restaurants and clubs--without any regard to quality or clientele.
  5. Those are active. Those are not part of the cc footprint.
  6. ^I know that there are some who are pushing this to be a LEED project. With a cap on costs, that might make LEED prohibitive. Still, what a great large project to get local construction firms more familiar and more comfortable with LEED. Those construction firms aren't always that eager to embrace change.

There are also some good short term options on the east side. There is a lady who runs a small company that does this. It could be a good option for you as it will allow you some time to find a place that you really like.

I'm taking my three-year old son to the game tonight. It will be his first. I figure that this is a good time to take him. It is only a pre-season game and we can leave at halftime. We'll be sitting in the ritzy seats, so I won't have to worry about any over-zealous fans. I'm looking forward to it.
  9. And Zaceman reappears after a long hibernation!
  10. This is a major issue in my mind. By what right does the Port step in and override our City's plan for the Lakefront? They aren't even confining their planning to their own site, they are essentially taking over planning for the whole east lakefront. I would assume that the City consulted the Port when they put together the Lakefront Plan. Now the Port is saying that it would prefer a different location. I really don't see how this is a problem if the City is on board. Judging from everything that we've heard, the City and the local neighborhood CDCs are supportive of the move (except for the bird-watchers on Dike 14).

^are we playing for draft position now?
  12. With the costs associated with this project being so high, I think that it is highly highly unlikely that they would have paid for improvements that would connect NC Harbor to the Malls.
  13. These are compelling images, but I wish we could see how much of these footprints are necessary. Is Columbus's CC large because they added some uses onto the main floor that don't necessary have to be there? How about Pittsburgh's? If there were time, it would be good to find some internal layout plans for these centers and compare them.
  14. I'm with you on that one. I don't even think that the views are that great. The westside's shoreline views are awesome, but the east side's are nothing special.

I love the sign that says "Open Sunday 10-1".
  16. GoTribe, what does an engineer say about groundwater issues?
  17. The air rights no longer have to be acquired because of FCE's amended proposal. Why is ground water all of a sudden an issue? Did they not know this stuff a few years back 2003,2004? when they were comparing the sites?
  18. I agree. PLJ made such a huge stink about not exceeding $400m. Maybe he'd be a little more reasonable and less sound bite-ish about things if this weren't an election year.
  19. Why? Did CSU lose some sore of bet?
  20. There is no way in h*ll that they'd build on top of the Malls. It would be cheaper, but they are not going to do it.
  21. http://www.myfoxcleveland.com/myfox/pages/Home/Detail;jsessionid=6F8F400B9AB62CCBDB993B3CE7B2C55F?contentId=7133155&version=2&locale=EN-US&layoutCode=TSTY&pageId=1.1.1&sflg=1 I-Team Report: Site Committee Leans Toward Tower City as Medical Mart Location Last Edited: Monday, 04 Aug 2008, 7:57 PM EDT Created: Monday, 04 Aug 2008, 6:26 PM EDT We may be one step closer to knowing the location for the proposed Medical Mart and new convention center. Two sources tell the FOX 8 I-Team that a site selection committee is leaning towards recommending Tower City as the future home of the complex. The other location under consideration is at the site of the old convention center on Lakeside Avenue. The chairman of the site selection committee, Fred Nance, will neither confirm nor deny that Tower City is the preferred location. The final say on the location belongs to the County Commissioners Two weeks ago, the I-Team's Bill Sheil broke the story of money problems at both locations. At the old convention center site, the idea had been to dig underground to get the space needed. But not too far down is Lake Erie, and building in the water table in incredibly expensive. Planners could build out on the site, but that would mean destroying the mall next door - a nationally-registered historical site. At Tower City, the problem is what it would cost to build the infrastructure needed to support having a convention center located in the heart of downtown. Still, the Tower City site is reportedly come in below the figure for the old convention center site. A potential problem still exists: both sites are still being priced well above the roughly $400 million that will be raised by the quarter cent sales tax that was imposed last year by the County Commission to pay for the complex (Commissioner Peter Lawson Jones voted against the sales tax). Fred Nance may make a formal recommendation to the County Commission as soon as Thursday as to where to build the complex and how to pay for it.
  22. I was thinking the same thing. Minneapolis is also a large university town. I'd also guess that cities with large corporations would see a bump. They often have "volunteer days" where thousands of workers participate in a single project.
  23. I just don't trust them to pull off a good coffee shop. If the goal is to promote another agenda, it will be all too obvious. I've seen a couple of these in the south (but in strip malls of course) and they are just plain weird and sappy. Could they really pull in enough money to pay such high rents?
  24. GoTribe and Lewarctj, I agree with you. I don't like to post on this thread because I feel that my points are not understood. I feel that many of the anti-OC arguments are grounded in a SimCity view of how to improve Cleveland.
