Running / Jogging Thread
Anyone use Nike+Ipod? I just bought one, but I haven't set it up yet. I have four different areas in which I run (starting from the northerly portion of Ohio City): 1. straight down Detroit and over Superior into downtown 2. down into Edgewater Park and then west on Edgewater into Lakewood 3. Down through the Flats 4. through Ohio City and Tremont I also use St. Ignatius' track when I do speed work.

Running / Jogging Thread
I've had a good year. I finished the Cleveland half-marathon in 1:52 (my goal was to finish under 2 hours). I'm training for my third marathon this fall (Tow Path) and I want to finish under 4 hours. The training is going very well. I have a 16-miler planned for tomorrow morning. I love the quiet of Saturday mornings at 6am in the city. Does anyone else use gmaps to map and distance out their runs? http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/ (edit--I see from page one of this thread that you've all discovered gmaps)

^I think that it would be equal to the number that we'd lose in Viking Hall.

I'm not clamoring for support on its architectural merits. I'm more worried about having to live with another surface lot at a corner.

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but CSU is planning to extend E.24th St between Euclid and Prospect. A total of four residential buildings will be constructed around this new street. I'm assuming that the old bookstore will be torn down. If I remember correctly from what I read, they would break ground next summer. Once the residences are complete, they would tear down the old holiday inn (viking hall). While the new residences are great, I hate to see anything with height torn down in that area. I realize that CSU is planning on continuing with other college residences on the Viking Hall site in the future. I also realize that the private firm that runs the residential buildings has negotiated for this. But still....

^So are you saying that Mr. McNulty had a hand in the timing of the raids? :) More conspiracy theories!!

Living in Downtown Cleveland
If Stonebridge was considered in the total, then our stats would look much better. I think that they are included in Ohio City's. With the vacancy rates, I think that the new apartments will fill up pretty well. That bodes very well for Euclid. I also think that the condos will sell much faster once they are actually built. Nobody likes to wait for over a year for a unit to be finished. That's the problem that we currently have.

Did you read the prior stories on this? The commission wasn't as biased as you make it out to be. They used business-only criteria.

That's good to hear. If I need a drug store past 9, I have to drive from Ohio City to 117th.

Actually, that is the kind of retail that most excites me. It makes our city liveable.

I think that was not really considered possible by the Cimperman camp because Dimora had such a hammerlock on the position.

Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail
http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2008/07/groups_studying_plan_to_link_c.html Groups studying plan to link Canal Basin Park with the Towpath Trail Posted by dsims July 28, 2008 22:00PM Canal Basin Park is now a hodgepodge of parking lots, pavement and small stretches of grass. But by the time the Towpath Trail extends into the Flats in 2014, it could become a central Cleveland asset. Planners have begun thinking of ways to connect the future park and path with the rest of the city and its river and lake.

It is interesting that they are looking at Klaiber's office (county engineer). Supposedly, he is one of the best things going for Cuyahoga County.

How very sad. Joe and his wife just had a baby 7 days ago. I'm glad that they got out ok. The fire sounds very suspicious.
