Think I could get this zoned and build some great lofts/apts/condos?
I remember those two being for sale in 2005 and were still for sale in 2007. If they could be purchased for a reasonable amount, it might make your site plan easier and project more feasible.

Efforts are afoot to add another hotel to the mix somewhere in the Circle. Stay tuned..

Cleveland AST Dew tour (NorthCoast Harbor)
This was broadcast live on NBC on Sunday afternoon. The City and the venue looked awesome. Very cool.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
I wish it were actually accessible, but its not. Seems like they could have avoided creating the loop if they weren't trying to anticipate a stop for the new aquarium back in 1996.

Cleveland: Development, Now & Then
I like the DoubleTree one and the Tower City one. Kassouf's and Bowen's look horrible.

^cool. Very informative stuff.

Cleveland: University Circle: Uptown (UARD)
I think that the entertainment stuff will be more centered around the alley and the everyday retail will go on Euclid. UCI is also working on a parking garage along the rapid tracks and a possible grocery store on Mayfield adjacent to the redline. There are also some other smaller things brewing in the area..

The tenant mix will be very interesting. Will they target college kids, grad students, medical residents, researchers, mature folk going to see arts-related activities?? I've heard something vague as if they are really going for a mix.

Cleveland: University Circle: Uptown (UARD)
I heard that some of the apartments will feature moveable walls--you can sort of design your own space. I'm guessing that was what he was talking about.

Cleveland: University Circle: Uptown (UARD)
The first floor of the southern building will be all glass. You can be walking on Euclid and see through the first floor retail/entertainment use and see right into the new alley. Oh, and there will be an interior alley between this building (the "J" building as some are calling it) and the old triangle apartments. The developers are envisioning this alley as a sort of entertainment district.

What does everyone think about the architecture? This is no Avenue District and it sure wasn't designed by Paul Volpe. (the links above show some additional images)

Think I could get this zoned and build some great lofts/apts/condos?
It is easier to get a zoning variance than try to change the zoning. This happens every week in Cleveland. see http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/bza/agendalist.htm You'd also need to talk with the Little Italy Development Corporation (if that is their name) first. The city wants to know that the neighborhood is onboard with a project before it will lend support. You'd also need to talk with the councilperson. If he or she is not on board with the project, it won't get done. Go there first.

^that has happened before on some non-controversial articles. I really doubt that they are editing it because you support the current location.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Cleveland Clinic?? Where would this city be without the Cleveland Clinic? They have done so much for this city. Forest City is doing what any business would do--they are making an attractive proposal. Maybe it is a proposal that the County can not refuse. It is not as if they are twisting the County's arm. In fact, they are complying with the County's demands. I don't get your logic on this one. Are they secretly adding millions of dollars to the cost of the Mall site?

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Can $100 million be shaved from the costs to build on the current location? If not, it looks like we might have a location.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
Considering that it just says "hotel" on it, I doubt that this is the final design.

Are we sure that this isn't anything more than just a generic pre-design rendering?

http://blog.cleveland.com/medical/2008/07/case_western_reserves_new_medi.html Case Western Reserve's new medical researchers pump millions into Northeast Ohio economy Posted by JKroll July 20, 2008 04:44AM Fab five These researchers whom Case Western Reserve University recruited have brought more than $60 million to the local economy in research grants the last three years. Walter Boron Hired: 2007 as chairman and professor of the school's physiology and biophysics department. Area of research: Understanding how ions and gases cross cell membranes. Company: Aeromics LLC, developing drugs to stop brain swelling after stroke. Employees: 1 Mark Chance Hired: 2005 as professor and director of the Case Center for Proteomics. Area of research: Uncovering the structure and function of proteins so scientists can better understand the underlying characteristics of disease, wellness and the variation in individual responses to diet, environmental stresses or therapeutic drugs. Company: NEO Proteomics, finding biological indicators in urine, blood and other body fluid that can be used to guide treatment of patients who have chronic diseases. Employees: 1 Krzysztof Palczewski Hired: 2005 as John H. Hord Professor and chair of the medical school's pharmacology department. Area of research: Membrane proteins that trigger the human eye to "see" light. Companies: Retinagenix, commercializing a "miracle drug" that can slow retinal degeneration in adults; Polgenix, developing an instrument that can take an image of the back of the eye, and designing drugs for membrane proteins. Employees: 4 Retinagenix; 7 Polgenix Alvin Schmaier Hired: 2005, division chief of hematology and oncology for the medical school and for Case Medical Center; Robert Kellermeyer Professor of Hematology and Oncology for the medical school. Area of research: Understanding how blood clots occur; developing treatments that prevent blood clots, heart attacks and strokes. Company: Thromgen, developing drugs that inhibit blood clots. Employees: None. Dan Simon Hired: 2006 as director of University Hospitals Heart & Vascular Institute; division chief of cardiovascular medicine at the medical school and at Case Medical Center; and Herman K. Hellerstein Professor of Cardiovascular Research at the medical school. Area of research: Role of inflammation in hardening of the arteries, and scar tissue formation after balloon angioplasty and stenting. Most prominent recent discovery is a new gene (MRP-8/14) that predicts heart attack and stroke. Company (past): Co-inventor and co-founder of biotechnology start-up NitroMed, the developer of a heart failure drug. Sources: Case Western Reserve School of Medicine; the researchersWhen the medical school at Case Western Reserve University wanted a leader for the physiology and biophysics department, it wooed a researcher at the top of his field from an ivy-league competitor. The school did the same thing when it needed heads for its cardiovascular medicine, and hematology and oncology departments, as well as its proteomics center. "What we go out looking for is excellence," said Pamela Davis, the researcher, professor and administrator at the medical school who became its dean late last year. What Northeast Ohio got was an economic boost. Five researchers won by the medical school in the last three years are pumping more than $60 million into the region's economy -- and they promise to add more in the future. The group, just one example of the medical research, innovation and development going on in Northeast Ohio, illustrate how federal research dollars can start a region's economic ball rolling. The researchers -- Walter Boron, Dan Simon, Krzysztof Palczewski, Alvin Schmaier and Mark Chance -- brought dozens of scientists and millions of dollars in federal grants with them, spending the dollars to equip and staff their laboratories here.

does anyone remember the post (not sure where it is) about some voicemails that a guy made after meeting a girl. He talked about how he is "catch" and that she is lucky that he is actually considering her for a date. Does anyone remember this post and where I might find it?
