  1. I have ATT/Cingular. When I switched phones (not companies), my signal greatly improved.
  2. I'm having too much trouble trying to re-size some photos. I'm not very good with pictures. Anyone else, please feel free to post a pic.
  3. I'm come up with one in just a second.
  4. Yes to San Salvador! Have you been there? And StrapHanger, you gonna post a pic or let 3231 carry on? I've been to 12 different latin american countries, but I've never been to El Salvador.
  5. Looks too small to be la Ciudad de Guatemala. My next guess would then be San Salvador--home of the late Oscar Romero.
  6. San Jose, Costa Rica
  7. Looks like Latin America, but I can't place the country. Is it in Central America?
  8. Santiago had about 4 million people in 1998 (when I visited). It is very dense. The subway trains have rubber tires and run on concrete.
  9. The $400 million is the projected take from the recent county sales tax increase. The commisioners have said that they don't want to put in more than what the public has already authorized, which probably is a good move. I don't get that. The public didn't authorize any certain amount. The commissioners, per Ohio Law, decided to raise the $400 million through the sales tax increase. Why couldn't they just add another year or two onto the tax to increase the amount?
  10. Construction costs have skyrocketed over the past few years. I feel like the commissioners slapped on this arbitrary number and are sticking to it no matter what the consequences are. No wonder people are buying up property near E.55th & Euclid.
  11. ^I think the problem is finding a location for the convention center.

I've been married for almost 8 years. We have a nearly 3-yr old boy and a 5-month old girl.
  13. ^agreed. Kevin Schmotzer's quote about how this is great for the city is a bit off. This will have no positive spin off. I'd much rather see these guys go into Tyler Village or something similar.
  14. http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20080630/SUB1/448590192/1071/TOC&Profile=1071 Graphics firm draws up HQ plans City, county testing undeveloped landfill By JAY MILLER 4:30 am, June 30, 2008 Consolidated Graphics Group Inc., a printing and direct-marketing company in downtown Cleveland, is eyeing a site on the lakefront owned by Cleveland Public Power for a new, $20 million headquarters.
  15. Supposedly, the vendors don't want to have expanded hours. They like the fact that they don't have to work everyday. If there is every a push to expand hours, they will vehemently oppose it. The merchants association is very strong and has made many decisions that are bad for the City and neighborhood. --this is what I've heard. But I also heard that the old guard president is out. I wonder if there has been any changes since then. Some vendors told me that the old president hated change. FWIW
  16. The one-story garage that is located between Carter Manor and the garage on the corner of Prospect and E.9th will be demolished. Another garage will be constructed in its place. It will be the same height as the corner garage.
  17. I'm an old plaster fan. Drywall looks so cheap.
  18. I believe that the "potential future building" is a phase II Uptown project.
  19. ^ I could see an argument for how it would hurt Fairfax, but I could only see how this would help Glenville and Hough. They wouldn't be touched by the OC.

I was raised in the West Park area of Cleveland (more inner-ring like than city-like) and now live in the city (Ohio City).
  21. It will be interesting to see how many homes this would take out. Back in 2005, the projected path of the roadway wouldn't have taken out that many homes. With the large amount of foreclosures and abandonemnt, the takes may not be so high in number.
  22. ^If we had better leadership at RTA, then I could see it happening. Has ODOT ever done a project where it includes mass transit? I just don't see if happening.
  23. i love that photo. So much so that i have it framed in my living room.
  24. Rover: From what I've heard, he's a very poor man's Howard Stern.
  25. He's based in Cleveland and is syndicated to a 5-10 stations around the country. I don't know the exact number, but Scene/Free Times did an interesting story on the guy about two years ago.
