  1. The project in OC is the one that received tax credits (Exhibit Builders). Foran doesn't have the details because he doesn't know what he wants to do with the site.
  2. The planters that are laying on the ground will be on top of poles like you see in the other pictures. Additionally, there will be some flower sconces on a few buildings and some rectangular planters on the sidewalks. Plans for the winter are also being developed so that E.4 doesn't look so barren after fall.
  3. Take a look at E.4th today. Some of the new flower baskets are being put up. More to come soon.
  4. ^there probably would be traffic issues, but it would be nice to front the garage on Frankfort (if that is the name of the street that is to the immediate north).
  5. Where is the best hotel bar in the city?

My sister-in-law moved to Cleveland last year. She promptly joined Eharmony. She's getting married in late summer to the first and only guy that she dated through Eharmony.

a general "how i met my wife/husband/SO could be an interesting thread.
  8. My brother-in-law (african-american) won't go there even though his mother has worked there for over a decade.
  9. Contact Rob Mavec at the City.

Were these sites relevent to their job performance? Who knows? She never got a job with us because my boss was fearful that she wouldn't represent the organization well. She also questioned the candidate's overall sense of judgment--don't put stuff out on the internet that could come back to haunt you--what type of decisions would this lady make that could come back to haunt our organization?
  11. As the article points out, the developer is given much liberty to decide the look and feel of each Indigo property. And from what I understand, the developer will be using WRL as the architect. I feel pretty good about that.
  12. When did that place first open? It seems that Miami Vice and Florida inspired a lot of cheesy restaurants in the mid to late 80s. I'm surprised we don't have some place called Kokomo's that is about to meet the wrecking ball on the east bank of flats.
  13. This is my 3rd summer in the OC. My bedroom looks onto and hears all that Detroit Ave has to offer. Once late May is upon us, I know that I'll be awaken at least once per weekend evening by some idiot. I can only remember two serious issues (a fist fight and some guy yelling for help). Still, summer is much more active on the streets.
  14. Besides the music, the venue is just so awe-inspiring.

^We googled a prospective job candidate before we considered hiring her. Her racy internet site that deals with some interesting sexual practices didn't impress my boss. I used to teach high school. When female students would email me hw questions, I wish that they would have used a more appropriate email address. I just didn't feel comfortable responding to 14-yr old girls whose email address started out with sexbayb@..

I thought that you only had one choice when it comes to cable. Am I crazy?
  17. There is nothing you could ever do or say to hurt my feelings or offend me, lol... In my book you are an internet opinion like everyone else here, but there sure is a lot of bias on this UO website, especially from the Cleveland area. I find that disappointing considering I really like Cleveland. Every thread on this website is an argument of some kind or another, so no need for this thread to be different. I have generally used the generic term "skyscraper" to describe buildings over 400' regardless of floor count. I have found that 400' to be a popular mark to define skyscrapers. Height isn't based on floor count alone. Each city has its overzealous posters. No need to throw any mud. It doesn't get us anywhere. Back on topic.

Fair comments. I think that people feel that once some momentum starts that the neighborhood should become gentrified very soon. There are thousands of public housing units on the edges of Ohio City that are not going anywhere. No matter how many homes are renovated, there will always be a rougher edge to Ohio City. Tremont, on the hand, doesn't face the same challenges and has seen much more development. Ohio City, for its obvious landmarks and popular establishments, has more expected of it.
  19. From the developer speak on this one, I feel like we are ways off in seeing that surface lot turn into a new building.
  20. I am surprised that people are taking such offense to my comments. UO is becoming a little tiresome with all this bickering and comparing. I based my comments on the fact that no other city square in the state has a 40+ story tower and two 50+ story towers. I defined that area as a "district" and not the overall downtown. In my Ohio-mind, I consider 40+ story buildings to be "skyscrapers". Others probably differ in opinion. (The title of the thread refered to high rises and skyscrapers) I am sorry if you thought that I was saying that all of downtown Cincy is somehow inferior. I didn't mean to say that nor did I actually say that. I was just making a passing comment and I wasn't trying to hurt anyone's feelings.
  21. I read "skyscraper" district as a unique area within a cbd. Not an entire city skyline.

let's just change the subject to Dating in College. It is more interesting. :)
  23. Summer is where we see the greatest number of murders. Just give Channel 19 some time, they'll come up some hysteria for you.
  24. Have you been to Cincinnati? I think Cincinnati has one of the finest CBD's the U.S. has to offer. You can literally walk across the street (or skywalk) from one fortune 500 company to another, not to mention the fortune 1000 companies and all the smaller major companies scattered throughout. The density is very impressive along with the selection of companies. I don't see how this addresses the skyscraper district question. I love Cincy's skyline and its settling and topography, but the buildings aren't that tall. They don't need to be to have a great effect.
