  1. ^Geis is not the developer of this project. He has been linked to the city-owned lots on Chester near the Greyhound Station. This is a Playhouse Square Foundation project. It calls for 600 parking spaces. Again, the phase I parking pedestal + phase 2 tower is only my speculation based on putting some tidbits together.
  2. I saw some info and renderings on the potential mixed-use building that has been talked about for the Euclid/E17th surface lot. I didn't hear that this is the exact plan, but by reading between the lines I think that they may go the Euclid 515 route and build a parking garage first and then follow up with a tower when the demand and financing is aligned.
  3. If its on the southwest side, then i know. some guy bought it about 8 years ago and has been rehabbing it piece by piece while living in it. I doubt it would have a restaurant or bar in it given how he's made it his castle.
  4. Let me correct a fairly large misunderstanding about the casino-related tax revenue being diverted to Public Square. The City is not diverting casino revenue from its general fund to pay for public square. Here’s the story: 1. A few years ago, the City put a TIF on the Higbee Building so that it Rock Gaming could make improvements to it to create the casino and attract lots of jobs and revenue. This is completely separate from Public Square. 2. Because of this TIF, Rock Gaming and Dan Gilbert had the rights to millions of dollars that was created by the increased tax value of Higbee. This money could only be spent to make further improvements to Higbee. 3. In order to help fund the construction of Public Square, Rock Gaming and Gilbert agreed to release their rights to $10million of those funds. The City had no say in how this money gets spent. In looking back at the PD article, the reporter did not clearly explain this. In summary, no city-controlled casino tax revenue is being put towards construction of Public Square.
  5. That sidewalk plaque idea was pathetically unoriginal.
  6. From what I've heard... yes, they will play music. Think bells chiming on the hour--but the bell chimes will be music from artists that have been inducted into the hall of fame. The idea is to un-moor the Rock Hall from North Coast Harbor and bring it into the rest of downtown.
  7. I don't know about funding for Canal Basin, but Cleveland has shown the capability to raise funds via "public-private-corporate partnerships and sponsorships". Public Square is a major example. Lake Link Trail (phase I and II) is another.
  8. The site has been used to crush old concrete as part of the convention center construction and the new inner belt bridges.
  9. The thing that bothers me is the pervasive use of gray. I feel better about it if they had used wood flooring instead of carpet (especially in the living room). The gray carpet combined with the gray walls looks bad, dead and cheap, imho.
  10. This beauty at w.45th & Lorain will soon undergo a complete renovation. Not sure what will go in on the first floor, but the new owner will live on the second floor.
  11. It could be a contract term in the contract with the lot operator-- repave and re-stripe every xx years.
  12. apartments. i believe it'll have 60-70 units.
  13. Interesting name choice. The Ohio City Townhomes. Even though they are located in Duck Island--in Tremont's service area. not to mention that there is a 10 yr-old development on 32nd that has the same name.
  14. I'll just add that there is a lot of truth to those rumors.

Progress is being made and designs will be coming out soon. I believe it will be closer to 20 stories.
  16. This is great to hear--especially considering the huge trend with the office conversions in downtown.
  17. NEORSD has been doing soil borings in many places around the city as part of their grand CSO project.
  18. This is very interesting, but was there a link. Or did some sentences get omitted? It seems the post starts mid conversation.
  19. My how times have changed. If this were announced a few years ago, we'd have 5 pages full of posts in reaction to this news by now. 550 apartments, Ho-hum.
  20. Agreed.. Thirsty Dog of Akron puts 2015 at 16,000 barrels. Fat Heads of Cleveland puts 2015 at 20,000 barrels. Those two would easily be #2 and #3 on the Ohio list and yet the columbus article completely omits any mention of those two.
  21. I last heard about this a year or so ago and at that time the discussion was that they were looking to do both a brew pub and their main brewery. But then I heard separately in the news that they had invested some more money in their current brewery. So, I'm not sure how it stands now.
  22. So Great Lakes produces more than the rest of the list combined.

The renderings don't give much detail, but I'm skeptical about the elevated walkway. Is that really needed? Those are expensive and that money could probably be used to create a kick-ass one of kind playground (one of those cool kinds that pop up in european cities and would attract families from all over the place). But maybe it would be cool and worth the investment..I wonder. Hard to tell from the little that is shown. Still, is it really worth it given the short span from the upper portion of W.76th tunnel? Need more details.
  24. Those tracks are in fact still in use. The Flats Industrial RR is the owner and they operate a few local trains a day that connect a hand full of clients. They usually finish all their work by 10am each day. One of those clients is the the cereal mill that sits next to State Fish/Catanese Classic Seafood on Merwin near the Center Street swing bridge. So they do operate that lone lift bridge. You can usually see the trail engines blocking tracks between Columbus Rd and the bridge when not in use.
  25. I would think (but have no insider knowledge) that they'd eventually invest in a large project on the Scranton Peninsula. Look at all the stuff going on around it and through it--Towpath, Lake Link, Brickman's development up top in Duck Island, Rivergate, CRF and the Foundry, Canal Basin, Tremont, Ohio City, Downtown----it will be encircled by projects that will make this land a perfect place for high end housing (after getting public money to foot the bill for environmental clean up).
