Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
I don't think that we should be counting on this convention center to be the sole source of business for new hotels and restaurants. If we put it at E.55th, there will be virtually no sustainable spin off development.

I'd be happy if he seduced us with the most stunning from-out-of-town new office tenant leases.

Cleveland: Cleveland Marathon News & Discussion
I ran the half-marathon and loved it. I guess I loved it because I ran much faster than I thought I could. I've run the full Tow Path marathon twice and loved it. This is totally different. I really like the route and the amount of people that run and that hang out along the race route. I'll definitely do it again.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
The problem is that a convention center at E. 55 would not be a connected link at all. It would be floating in a disconnected area. This would not support any investments that have already been made. It would not support any new investments other than a new restaurant or two. We would be showing our ugliest side to visitors. For god's sakes, there are projects immediately adjacent to this site. We story are we trying to tell to the rest of the country with this site?? Welcome to Flint 2.0??

^Why didn't they update the numbers before they determined the size of the tax increase?? This is becoming a train wreck.

Cleveland: Filling in Euclid Avenue
You are correct. It would be nice to provide front door access to the new $500 million facility. I'm very curious to see how the new allee (sp?) will look.

Cleveland: Downtown Cleveland Alliance News & Discussion
^As I read it, the union doesn't mind if DCA is working. I think that they actually like it. It allows the union members to get paid for work that they don't have to do. The contract dictates that they have the exclusive right to clean the public areas of downtown. If anyone else does it, then the union gets paid.

At least we don't put city references from movies/TV Shows in the "City Discussions." ;) What about that Hollywood/Cincy name dropping thread?

This really gets me as well. However it is in the union contract, then the d*** union is correct. I just can't believe that they would pursue this interpretation of the contract. How low can they go??

Cleveland: Mayor Frank Jackson
I like Jackson and think he does somethings very well. He is good at doing the boring stuff well. It is not sexy, but it is very necessary. He is not a visionary though. If we could have a Jackson/Ronayne mix, we'd really benefit as a city. Overall, I think Cimperman would make the best mayor.

I believe the starters have a 2.88 ERA. Imagine if: We had this year's starters, last year's relievers and 1995's batting line up.

Cleveland: Opportunity Corridor Boulevard
^Woodland is difficult to use because there are a good number of historic cemeteries that line each side of the street. If they would use Woodland, it would need to be widened and then you get into some grave issues.

Cleveland: HealthLine / Euclid Corridor
There are billions of dollars being invested near the Health. If the RTA hadn't built it, there still would be a lot of money invested ($500m heart center, $300m art museum...). Still, the new line had lead to a lot of smaller investments being made. I kind of cringe when I hear those RTA ads. They are not helping. Eaglefan, do I recognize your username from a different ohio-based football site?

No one fits that bill better than Peter B. Lewis, who will receive the first-ever President's Award for Visionary Achievement at Sunday's commencement ceremony. And while Snyder insists it didn't take much to get Lewis to campus, the billionaire philanthropist once famously boycotted donations to Cleveland charities to underscore his displeasure with Case... Hilarious. All those retail and restaurants will do so well if they are separated from the public by security gates. The poster does a good job of sucking you in with some positive news before dumping the ridiculous on you.
