Cleveland: Bob Stark Warehouse District Project
^for once, I kind of agree with Ctown. I think that Stark has so many difficult details tied to his development that it makes it more difficult. He wants new streetscapes, streets, various different buildings. And he wants to TIF the world in order to make it all happen. I think that as long as Jacobs could land a major tenant or two, he'd have less hurdles to overcome than Stark.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
Sure hope this doesn't mean that Microtel is shying away from a downtown location. ;) Wow, sounds like we couldn't get any better of a hotel product for the Flats. Great news!

I don't see why Americans don't think that the price of gas should adjust for inflation.

Ha, I love the Grey Cells Green reference. That band hasn't crossed my mind in about 16 years. Thanks for the graphic.

Cleveland: HealthLine / Euclid Corridor
I don't really see how the stations being in the middle of the road are a bad thing at all. EF, why do you think that it will hurt business? Do you think it is going to eliminate the occassional impulse pepsi purchase?

Cleveland: HealthLine / Euclid Corridor
Eaglefan (yappi? jj ?), Euclid Ave is long and diverse stretch. The vast majority of Euclid does not depend on vehicular traffic to support retail and restaurant business. Therefore, I don't see how the new configuration hurts it. In downtown, the majority of business is fed by pedestrians walking from work or school or from some parking garage. I agree that the no-left turn rule is a bit heavy handed. I also think that the lay person doesn't understand too well how much the ECTP has already done for Cleveland. A lot of things have been set in motion that most don't know about.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
MayDay, I don't know how to make these interesting diagrams. How would these footprints fit onto Gray's Green (bound by E.14th and E.18th, Carnegie and Prospect). If you have a second, could you make one? Pretty please.

Cleveland: District of Design
Cleveland's District of Design moves beyond being a concept Posted by Tom Breckenridge May 15, 2008 08:43AM Categories: Breaking News, Economic development, Impact The Cleveland District of Design is moving from promising concept to a proposal with meat. Property owners around Playhouse Square gathered with prospective tenants Wednesday evening to hear the latest on creating a world-class district of consumer-product showrooms and design centers on downtown's eastern flank. First proposed in 2006 by two college honchos, the idea went into a quiet phase. Playhouse Square's real estate management group prospected for ground-level showrooms along Euclid Avenue, centered at the plaza at Huron Road and Euclid Avenue... more at: http://www.cleveland.com

Cuyahoga County: County Government Reform News & Discussion
Still, there are so many elected offices that should not be elected. Who really knows who would make a good coroner or engineer?? We are lucky to have a very good engineer right now, but I have no clue whatsoever if the coroner is doing a good job. On the other hand, allowing all these people to be appointed also has some great risks.

lol. I have oddly always had great service at Tommys. but the food is gawd awful Interesting. I've always heard the exact opposite--they love the food, but don't care for the service.

Cleveland: Flats Developments (Non-Stonebridge or FEB)
^I agree. All the plans that I saw showed that Tenk was going to be reused. They were going to expand a bit with some glass and steel. K & D, like any smart developer, sought control of the land via purchase options. If the market goes sour, then they don't have to exercise those options.

NYC: New Major League Stadiums
They tried that with White Sox stadium (new Comiskey) and they failed miserably. The Yankees are all about history. They will make it a nice stadium. Architects have learned from past ballpark mistakes.

I agree about the bocce court. Are you supposed to feel comfortable while sitting and eating with those balls flying by your head. I also don't like that you can't eat in the bar area.

booming downtown austin
I'm sure if I were a college student that I would like it, but its not for me. I've been there 6-10 times to visit my wife's family. It is nothing special. Very suburban style downtown. Additionally, it is hard to identify a real "center" to the city. Lots of highways being built. Lots of vinyl village apartments popping up along those highways. It is hard to find the poor areas of the city. Great path along the river that is always hopping with runners. Poor housing stock and the good stuff is ridiculously expensive. And way way way too hot in the summer.

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News
I went to StoneMad on Saturday. From the looks of it, it will do very well. I felt like the only Cleveland resident in the entire place. i don't think that I will eat there again. I'd rather drink upfront near the bar. I then went over to Parkview and had a much better time. StoneMad is beautiful.
