If this guy is used to Atlanta traffic, the commute to Akron might be cake.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20080320/FREE/858063736/1008&Profile=1008 County OK's convention center/med mart deal By JAY MILLER March 20, 2008 Cuyahoga County commissioners today unanimously approved a preliminary agreement to join with a Chicago-based company to build and operate a new convention center and medical mart complex in Cleveland. The deal with Merchandise Mart Properties Inc. limits the county’s financial risk and creates an opportunity to use the tax advantages of private ownership. Essentially, the county will choose the site and Merchandise Mart Properties will build and own the complex. However, Merchandise Mart Properties then will lease the complex to the county, which will sublease the operation to the developer. The nominal private ownership likely will allow the project to be eligible for a variety of tax credits that would not be available to a publicly owned facility...

Cincinnati: General Business & Economic News
I browsed their website once and emailed them a question. They never got back to me with an answer.

Twinsburg: Twinsburg Fashion Place
They live in Twinsburg. I doubt they would even consider a "unique retailer" as something to be valued.

Downtown Cleveland in the early 80's
On the other hand, wasn't the warehouse district pretty much all boarded up and devoid of stree life in the 80s?

Detroit-Shoreway's Capital Theater should be open in about a year or so.

The Ohio State University Buckeyes Football Discussion
^really? I doubt that they will redshirt him. He's not the kind of athlete that would stay four years. He has speed that can help right now. They should use him like Florida used Tebow as a freshman.

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
I am really enjoying this discussion. It is not too often that we on the board are truly split on an urban planning issue. It is a good planning exercise to go through these different arguments.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
^but you guys are urban nerds like the rest of us. I don't see the average conventioneer going out and checking out each city block of downtown.

Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
Mayday, I actually really like that sculpture. It is not like the place is overcrowded with public art and other significant landmarks. If that were the case, then I'd say the sculpture is a stretch.

I couldn't agree with you more. Those phoenix signs are so so, um, silly. Quit trying to tell people that they've arrived somewhere. Let the street speak for itself. Zocalo will be getting new signage. They'll be doing some sort of blade sign.

The TC cinemas news is not really news. It has been known by all sides for a few years now that FCE would drop the cinema. I'm actually surprised that they are saying that they would keep any portion of the cinemas.

^I don't know anything about Exhibit builders. I did see that CMHA property is for sale. With the Detroit Superior Lofts closer to reality (I don't know if they have their presales yet), the Exhibit builders and the CMHA properties provides an intriguing opportunity for a large scale development or set of developments.

Great post. I never knew that the Rathskeller started out on E.4th. From the looks of its current location, I thought that it had been on Prospect since the 50s.

CNN's Atlanta bias.
You must not watch ESPN. There are various examples of when some ridiculous story about the Yankees or Red Sox makes the headlines when a much more significant story about another team is buried. see http://thebiglead.com/?p=5044 (thanks lostincincinnati)
