  1. And those concerns are? MTS, have you been inside of any of the stonebridge units recently? if not, i'd suggest you go have a look at a few of the units for sale - even the model unit in the older stonebrige has some issues - and it is the model (check out the door to the roof and the spiral staircase and door casings). i've seen a couple of units in the older phases that aren't aging very well. and although the new building is nice, the 3 units i have been inside that building, as well as some of the common area elements don't appear built to last 50 years, for example. another example is the door hardware. it looks OK, but it is not commercial grade, which is what is commonly found in higher end condos and most apartments downtown / near downtown - multiply this small change throughout the building, and there is a significant cost savings for the developer, at some long term wear and tear cost perhaps to the condo owner. some of the concerns could just be cutting corners on finishing touches, but look closely at where the windows meet the floors, put your full weight against the balcony railings, look at weather sealing around doors that face the lake / river, etc. there are just a lot of issues, for me at least, in buildings that are only a few years old or practically brand new. some of the planning also seems strange. i'd hate to have to move any large piece of furniture into the new building with the multiple angle walls snaking back to the front doors of some units. it might look interesting, but that doesn't make it appropriate or long lasting, imo, and this is the challenge for this type of development practices at e9 and euclid, be it hotel, office, or condo. ymmv. hey, no one ever accused Bob Corna of being a good architect!! ;)
  2. Jerry, Wasn't the timeline for the Cedar Hill rapid station (University) originally positioned around a 2012 construction date? It is great to hear that it will be done sooner.

The NYC media and other parts of the national media have loved manufacturing this story for about 4 years now.

Do I hear/read an echo in here?
  6. Could we change the title of this thread to something like "Cleveland Biotech Business News"?
  7. sure, here's another one: Florida medical firm ViewRay picks Cleveland, pledges jobs Posted by Mary Vanac February 25, 2008 14:44PM Categories: Breaking News, Medical Read more A Florida company developing an imaging system to guide cancer radiation therapy is moving its headquarters to Cleveland, thanks to collaboration by government and economic development organizations throughout Ohio. ViewRay Inc. in Gainesville is commercializing a patent-pending technology that uses magnetic resonance images (MRI) to guide gamma rays to precisely target cancerous tumors. The company, which employs 10 people, has committed to hiring 25 people in Northeast Ohio in its first year of operation, and 65 more within three years. The Ohio Tax Credit Authority today approved ViewRay for job creation tax credits estimated at $537,431 over 10 years to help the company relocate to Northeast Ohio and equip a facility here, said Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher in a written statement. The Ohio Department of Development, Cuyahoga County, TeamNEO, BioOhio in Columbus and BioEnterprise in Cleveland worked together to pitch ViewRay on Northeast Ohio. "They as a team were comprehensively better than anyone that we talked to in the other states," said William Wells, ViewRay's chief executive. http://blog.cleveland.com/business/2008/02/northeast_ohio_lands_florida_m.html
  8. Mayday, Blinker and I just missed you. We stopped in today to look at the menu sometime in the noon hour.
  9. So, is the county confident that they could find another buyer? Is Ferchill preparing a stronger bid? There are a lot of unanswered questions here. The County must feel pretty confident that someone will take the complex off of their hands or else they wouldn't have rejected K & D.
  10. Man I hope you're right! I'm not 100% sure with the details though, but I've got the gist of it.

^is this the sort of place that would normally have a bouncer?
  12. I would have played varsity football at any other high school in the state. I went to St. Ignatius when we won 3 state titles in 4 years, were named national champions by USAToday during one year, and nationally ranked two other years. We lost 3 games in 4 years. I got sick of being the 3rd string TE after my sophomore year. I've become more of an "athlete" since high school. I hope to run my third marathon in four years in October.
  13. ok, I'm hearing that this is just a formality. The County is going to re-issue an rfp that will be tailor-made to K & D's plan. The reason being is that K & D's original bid did not comply with the original rfp and therefore the County could not legally accept it. It is just a matter of time...

Euclid Corridor: Not as cute, but much more effective. When I lived in Memphis, they had added a trolley line. What a waste. They never go above 20mph. You have to wait at traffic lights, they clog up the road. I'm all for rail, but I think that street cars are a negative for a city. They amount to an unwise expenditure that years for the days of yesteryear.

Nice spread. I don't remember anyone taking photos of West Park/Kamms on UO (it is where i grew up). It is probably the most Irish neighborhood in the city.

Good. This is more important than signing Anderson. If we didn't get Lewis back, we'd be screwed. Looks like Anderson will be signed soon and then the free agency starts (and that will be the most interesting point of the offseason).

    I'm cautiously optimistic.
  19. Oh you don't have to worry, I don't think that the respect level really could get any lower than it is. ;)

Has anyone ever been to Salt Fork and stayed overnight? My sister-in-law is thinking about having her wedding there. Nice place??
  21. ^gated and secured lots immediately behind each building.
  22. I think that you'd have to pay a little more than 650. The landlord for CLV-Lofts is great and very accomodating. My sister in law lived in Metzner for a year and never complained of safety issues. The front door security system appears to be pretty good.
  23. check out www.clv-lofts.com I'd look at the Metzner and the Merrell buildings. If you rent in these buildings, you get access to the gym (small, but good) at the Federal Knitting Mills building.
