  1. So this building should be in the news again in the coming weeks..
  2. Construction is underway. If you drive on Carter Rd just east of Columbus Rd, you can see that the right of way has been cleared. The contractor has until June 1st to finish the Lake Link section between Scranton/University(Towpath) and the Columbus Rd Bridge.
  3. It is a different project.
  4. The club Cleveland project should come out soon. Also, look out for news regarding the preliminary plans for another project that will be as large as all 3 of these combined.
  5. Given our growth in hotel rooms and occupancy, I wonder how many more people that will add, on average, to downtown.
  6. Just curious, but why are Canal Basin Park and Lake Link Trail lumped together in one thread? The Lake Link Trail is on the west bank of the flats and doesn't touch Canal Basin. The Towpath will connect to CBP.
  7. That's what the local design review instructs them to do. They feel that a new home should not try to look as if it were built 150 years ago--it can mimic it and have generally the same look as long as it has some features that show its era. I don't necessarily agree with that approach as the "modern" touches are generally ugly in my mind.
  8. Oh that's just not good. Tremont establishments don't have to try to mimic other stereotypical fun places to be cool. That removes the cool. Its like a cool-ectomy being done on Professor Ave.
  9. Brickman's project would happen in phases. He also does not yet have complete site control for the entire plan.
  10. The only thing holding Intesa back right now is the street vacation process--and that's in the City's hands. Only a matter of time.
  11. The ceiling makes it look crappy. And the lighting is horrendous. Looks like a large conference room at a hotel somewhere in the Chagrin Highlands.
  12. Not sure how far off they are from going public, but I've heard there is a large mixed-use project in the works for the parking lot on Euclid & E.17th. No more details available.
  13. Getting any type of rail involved would essentially kill the entire project. RTA would have to do years and years of study before it could qualify (attempt to qualify) for funds to build any rail extension. By doing that, you'd lose all your funding for Public Square as the donors gave money predicated partially on the fact that something would get done now. Too many long term plans that collect dust--avoiding that was one of the reasons why these donors gave to PS. And underground connection to rail? Do you mean to new a new rail line or to the existing Red Line? If it is the latter, then that put another put another stake into the heart of Tower City as you'd be removing all that foot traffic and helping to kill street life by putting it underground for what would be a ridiculously redundant project that would never get funded.
  14. I'd prefer to see the May Co building go first. It looks so bad on both the Prospect and Public Square sides. It would infuse a lot of life onto lower Prospect and onto Public Square. A redevelopment of May Co would also put more pressure on the Jacobs PS lot.
  15. I'm sure they would if they could. Parking costs a lot of money. Why would a developer want to get rid of so much valuable rentable SF if the parking wasn't necessary for the project?
  16. Yes, and it's like totally tubular, man. Like for oil/gas pipes. Whoa, hot tub time machine back to the 80s.... Back to the present, I see the elevator core is rising skyward. We also make flat steel that gets rolled up like giant rolls of toilet paper. Then it gets shipped out to other places that turn it further manipulate it so that it can get stamped, thinned, or whatever based on the particular product needs.
  17. Well..... don't forget that a lot of the prep work, especially the abatement, had already been done. And the façade didn't need the restoration work a lot of the adaptive re-uses we have seen in this City recently. He didn't have to create a blank canvas out of a former office building..... he basically bought one. Are you kidding me? I can't tell you how many men, hours, blood, sweat, and tears went into making this deadline.... I love people who talk out there rear. The abatement was NOT done fully, and lets not forget the county building was under construction at the same time... This building was in crap condition. You won't find another developer as fast, efficient, and cost effective as Geis in Northeast Ohio period... ^Very true. Geis & their team opened a lot of eyes with this project. Prior to this, they were of course a very successful developer, but had been almost exclusive in the suburban, green field, industrial/manufacturing sector. They bit off a big chunk with this project & learned on the fly and pulled it off. Good for them, good for the city. The fact that this is much more than just a residential conversion really puts this into perspective. Geis brought in Heinen's. There are some serious high end units that greatly push the market---and they also found room to include some units that are more affordable. And and and. I feel like this entire complex is filled with so many unique things--it is truly amazing that this got done so quickly.
  18. The Cereal Mill thing is a mistake, or at least out of place. But the Metroparks are working separately of the Lake Link Trail to connect Rivergate Park with FEB via a riverside trail/boardwalk.
  19. What a win-win. Developing that huge parking lot and also saving the Herold building.
  20. Strap, thanks for posting my thoughts for me :). There is a lot to think about with here. I almost wish that K&D would announce that they've bought two buildings--and that they're converting one to all residential and moving the office tenants to the 2nd building. Just thinking out loud. Lots of these tenants simply aren't candidates for class A space. I'd hate to think we're kicking tenants out of downtown/out of the city to add more apartments. I'm all for more residential, but some of this needs a closer look to better understand the e eventual impacts.
  21. Due to a contractual relationship with Case and the fact that you don't want to start a school year in one campus and then move to another campus whenever it is ready, this project has a hard deadline. Fall groundbreaking is a must.
  22. This was in place long before any RNC announcement.
  23. I know that there was a car dealership that was considering going into the first floor of another existing downtown building, but I don't know anything more. Maybe they are considering other options or concepts.
  24. There has been a lot of core drilling around town on empty lots'--but a lot of it is being done by NEORSD as part of he CSO project. It doesn't matter if it is not in the location of a new tunnel. I'm not saying this particular location is NEORSD-related, but it could be.
  25. It went through design review on Thursday. I know they'll have to go back again, but I think they got conceptual approval.
